He also had CMC until he lost his job because he started losing his athleticism and the league caught up to his basic QB style of play. If you look at actual QB stats, Dak has way better numbers in fewer seasons. Smith Sr played around 48 games with Cam totalling around 2-3 seasons. Cam had CMC his rookie year and the final year of his return half way through the season. Olsen had 2700 yards in 6 seasons before being traded to Carolina before Chicago. Dont leave those facts out to try and discredit Cam

Just because you have a lot of weapons doesn't mean you're not good. Jimmy G had all those same weapons & contrary to what Nick Wright says, these 2 QBs are on a completely different level. Garoppolo was indeed a game manager that none of us Niners fans had any confidence in. That if we needed to put the game on his shoulders he would carry us to victory. I've only ever seen Jimmy G carry us once in the whole time he was our QB1 & that was a regular season game in New Orleans. We have great confidence that if we need Purdy to carry us, he will. And that's because of the eyeball test. We've seen Purdy play & we know he's not just a check down machine like a game manager is. He consistently throwing the ball down field with great accuracy. That throw he made late in the 4th qtr against the Seahawks on Thanksgiving in between 4 defenders, was amazing & something a game manager can not do.

Cam was certainly a game changer. Many times he threw the ball to the other team and really changed the game. If game manager means a guy who has more intended air yards per attempt and per completion, who has fewer yards from receivers after the catch, has a far better INT rate AND TD rate than Cam, who is apparently a "game changer" like Dak does... I will take the game manager all day every day.

I think Brock Purdy haters are always going to use that 3 game losing streak as a way to justify their criticism & straight up jelliness for Brock Purdy. Let's be real, he was playing great against the Vikings up until he suffered that concussion, which was most likely responsible for those two late game picks that coincidentally came immediately after said concussion. And the next game against the Bengals was a direct result of the lingering effects of that concussion. He shouldn't have been out there but we wanted to win & knew that even a concussed Purdy gave us a better chance to win. So Joy could use that three game losing streak to justify her nonsense, but there were obvious mitigating circumstances. Which is weird because usually she's very insightful on these topics. But I sense a bit of biases coming from her. You could physically see the disdain she had in her face when the others were ripping her eagles after the Niners blew them out 42-19. Maybe I think this is a little payback for that. Because she's dead wrong. Anyone who's seen Brock Purdy play with their actual eyeballs knows he's much more than a game manager. Jimmy G was a game manager, Alex Smith was a game manager, Brock Purdy is most definitely not.

Tom Brady is a game manager, even Devin White, his teammate at the time called him one. Tom always had people poking at his deficiencies: arm strength, Run speed, mobility/ athleticism which are normally associated with Elite/game changing. I’ll take the Brady’s/ game managers though who: is accurate and can complete intermediate passes at a high clip-staying a head of Down and distance while putting pressure on the defense, great in situational manage by not putting the ball in harms way (T.O), finding & milking the mismatch even if it’s turning and handing the ball to your RB. This is why organizations miss on good players (not only QBs) because they’re valuing athleticism over decision making an IQ

Quarterbacks can’t just be great without a good cast anymore. If a team didn’t need good weapons anymore then Mahomes would be 1st in mvp odds. Defenses are just too talented now that QBs need weapons and a decent scheme to be productive, no matter how talented they are. I won’t say any of those four wouldn’t work outside of their team, but they can’t tryout for every team to see how they’d do. Besides, being a great QB isn’t just a physical thing or even some of the good ones wouldn’t need to sit behind people to be productive. If all it took for a QB to be good was be physically gifted, then Josh Allen would be great much earlier than his 3rd year.

Dak is a game manager and just look at his games until today. McCarthy still has him throwing the short balls, since Dak is not accurate but his receivers can catch everything. When Dak throws the long ball, he will generally throws an interception. Plusm, he struggles in the red zone and he's been in the league for over 9 years.
