It's the combination of the *Red Scare* (phobia of communism) and the *Yellow Peril* (phobia of Asians overrunning the West) that's fueling Sinophobic sentiment in the West today. Since the 19th Century, many have grown so thoroughly accustomed to the notion of Western dominance, so much such that the very thought of a non-Western country like China eventually surpassing the USA someday in the foreseeable future, is simply too frightening for many to fathom.

@Cyrus Janssen and @George Koo for the safety of the world, if it is a matter the two leaders of the US (which will change in a few years) and China, to sit and agree; isn't the issue an aspect of administration "decision stability" where each administration decides on some whim of thoughts? in that I find it unlikely for the US to change its fixed views towards China.

Totally agree. I came to US at its peak and I could clearly see how the US has changed and declined in the past 45 years. Our values have changed, capitalism has eroded democracy, and there is no longer a core middle class that upholds the key to our economic growth. The worst thing is that we didn’t realize these or we just chose to ignore these facts so we could blame everything to China.

We constantly recite this "Power corrupts. And absolute power corrupts absolutely". A nice piece of wisdom, except we don't realize it applies to a country too, especially that country is your own, where you are a patriotic citizen. The U.S. had the absolute power over the world for so long. Whatever we do, who is there to say "no"? All these power and success also led to the chanting of "USA! USA!". There is no argument about the American leadership and contribution to the modern world, especially in science and technology. But we cannot ignore the suffering received, especially by the non-Western areas of the world, from our arrogance. Hundreds of years of Monroe Doctrine did not help to create even a single successful country in Latin America, then we blame the illegal immigrants from these "shithole" failed states. The U.S. could get away with it because there is no one else there. Ever since the collapse of the USSR, which itself also provided an objectively negative contrast, with an abysmal living standard for their citizens, had proven we are the "good guy". But the China phenomenon is unprecedented, and their economy is not the USSR, and they also put a space station up in the sky, single handedly. By simply smearing China is not going to dig ourselves out of the hole. Worse, to provoke a war with a peaceful China, yet nuclear, and now pushed to a close embrace with Russia, is a disaster beyond imagination waiting to happen, for us, and for the rest of the humanity!

@@Whitfield369 I've noticed that the golden rule is another concept that doesn't apply to the US collective. Our individualism makes it nearly impossible to understand China's motivations. Our exceptionalism makes us believe that anything we've rejected for ourselves is inherently wrong and dangerous for others. We punish countries for "human rights abuses" until they copy our values. This creates suffering and provokes war, demonstrating why the world should never be remade in our image.

China is currently *at peace and not at war* with any country, since our last major conflict in 1979. Instead of making war, China is building infrastructure like _roads, railways, highways, bridges, tunnels, powerstations, dams, ports, airports,_ etc and investing in developing countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and also African countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Chad, Sudan, Ghana, Mozambique, Tanzania, etc. Whereas the United States is *warmonger* being involved in Gulf War, Iraq War, Afghan War, Libyan War, Syrian War, Yemen War, etc, even in the 21st century. USA is bombing in those Middle Eastern countries and enacting regime change by cutting off their "heads" (Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, etc) and then installing their own US puppet governments in place. If anything, it sounds like the United States is a threat to global peace and stability.

I cannot express how much I share Mr. Koo's sentiment. He came over to the U.S. at the time China was being invaded thus a hell hole. I came over at the end of Cultural Revolution, thus another hell hole. Most Americans have no idea how much we appreciate the fact that we were given the safe haven to escape the hell we were in. The Chinese in us tells us that you don't crap where you eat. For that we are staunchly loyal Americans, and want the best for the American people. China now finally got out from the hell she was in due to all kinds of historic reasons. Even the early CCP committed grave mistakes, even crimes, but the current leaders are not the ones at the time, thus I don't blame my misfortune before on them. When 1.4 billions of fellow Chinese got out of the hell hole before it cannot be more gratifying for me. Having the potential to work with the U.S. to create a better world to end human suffering is within reach. Since we can read Chinese and know people back there, we can tell the MSM bias and misinformation being spread. It is really painful for us to watch such historic golden opportunity is being squandered by some scoundrels with hidden selfish agenda.

The Communist Party of China isn't perfect, but they have done an excellent job transforming China from the once dirt-poor, war-torn, starving country in the past, into the world's 2nd largest economy, the world's factory (i.e Made-in-China) having the world's 2nd largest R&D spending, protected by the world's largest land army, the _People's Liberation Army,_ funded by the world's 2nd largest military expenditure. And it's all been achieved under the leadership of the CPC, despite Western MSM constantly denouncing China's success all along.

The biggest problem of the world is that people don't see the whole picture and are not willing to learn enough the history and the context. China has about the same number of companies and billionaires on both lists. China has a new generation of internet, green energy, and logistics billionaires-Wechat, Tiktok, JD, CATL, EVs, while some of the largest companies in the US are oil companies, banks, insurance, as well as weapon manufacturers which in China, are State Owned Enterprises. In other words, China does not encourage or allow oilmen billionaires, bankers billionaires, or weapon billionaires but those who can contribute to society and the world. How can any civilized government allow oilmen to make billionaire when its people suffer from inflation? How can they allow bankers to make billionaires when evicted homeowners sleep in tents? USA is bombing in those Middle Eastern countries and enacting regime change by cutting off their "heads" (Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, etc) and then installing their own US puppet governments in place. If anything, it sounds like the United States is a threat to global peace and stability.

This was the quickest 30min video. I mean, I wish we could talk out issues like this constantlyyyyy. With EVERYBODYYYY. But it will take generations to weed out the people who were raised to hate. My Grandfather was in Korea, so his generation and the generation after, and even my generation are still being trained to not trust the Asians! It would be best to elect people who are young enough to see through the hate and see the mistakes our country has made before our time. Like the Banana Republics, involving United Fruit Co. a mistake that many of us either don't know about yet or are trained to discredit or people trained to not even care. Well, I was frantic when I first realized we are on the brink of a war none has ever seen....I am almost accepting it. Cyrus, Victor Gao is so cool, do you think you will ever host him on your show? He might be to high up to get ahold of, but I just Love getting to hear him speak. First time I heard him speak was a video of him in Australia I think???? I was watching peoples faces and reactions on the video....Mr. Gao and the Chinese just don't get the respect they deserve and I almost feel like 1 of the few who can treasure a man like Victor Gao. Here is an option on the Taiwan issue:- Since both PRC and ROC claim the entire territory of China (mainland and Taiwan and the 9-dash line) then there shouldn't be any issue about the PRC (or ROC) claiming that the sea between mainland China and Taiwan belongs to China. China is now strong enough to defend her territory. So the claim that it's international water is wrong, it belongs to China. The only issue with Taiwan is that they like the status quo - one China two systems and no independence. So it's only about governance in Taiwan - it's not about the China Sea issue. If PRC guarantees the status quo for Taiwan then the Taiwan ADIZ is unnecessary and the security of the sea between mainland China and Taiwan can be a joint exercise. Without external threats re-unification will take place naturally. In 1999 Macau (ex-Portuguese colony) was returned to PRC and it's a success and peaceful. Unlike Hong Kong which had plenty of external interference until the national security law was passed to prevent sedition and anarchy. It's only appropriate for a country to have national security law for the safety of their citizens against external threat.

China has a bad historical run-in with psychoactive drugs including cannabis. During the 19th century, the British wanted to continue drinking Chinese tea, but China did not want anything the West had to offer, so Britain waged two bloody wars with China and forced Chinese to buy opium from them at gunpoint, which we didn't want because it made us sick and was poisoning our people. During this weak period of Chinese history, Hong Kong was taken from China and made into British colony, to act as a drug distribution hub to spread the addiction throughout rest of China. Even when Britain renounced ownership over its former territories, Hong Kong was not fully returned back to China, and China had to agree to Sino-British declaration just for Britain to handover what belongs to us.

Each year China have 6 millions graduate in science (doctor, engineer, scientist, etc). USA only have less than 250K. Lawyer & stock broker were consider good job in USA, not scientific job. There is no way USA can stop China rise because China have more engineer than USA.
