I find it hardly worth doing at all especially if a bunch more people jump on the app. You want the right balance of orders and drivers so drivers stay busy and customers get their orders fast. But not so many drivers that they are waiting all day in the parking lot for orders.

I spark and doordash because it the only 2 delivery services available in my area. When I get spark order I pause my dash when I arrive at walmart. I restart once the order is in my car . Leaving walmart. If doordash order is close or in same direction im going I accept it adding even more earnings to delivery

I am in Eastern PA and Spark is now trying to use Spark Drivers as employees. All the orders I got today, and it was my first time were huge like 19 orders for 27 miles. What the heck is that? It was $56 but 19 stops and 27 miles?? I did not take them. It's not worth it. All the orders were like this I waited outside my Walmart for over an hour. So just turned-on Grub Hub and I don't think I'm doing Spark again.

Just started yesterday. Was gonna skip it but figured I'd at least try it out. Went 6:30pm-9:30pm and got 2 orders. First was a batch order with 3 deliveries. Second was an express shop and delivery order. Base pay I got $29.01. No tips, RIP. 😂 The incentive program, when I learned about it and looked, I got another $20 for it as stage one of 3 stages of the offer; $20 per stage of # of orders done. Now this was my first day experience and even then I only did it for a little bit. 2 hours really (that second order was also a different town so a bit of drive) and I wasn't doing anything last night anyways. Figure for me at least this is a decent way to make extra cash on the side whenever I'm bored at home or out and about but don't want to go home just yet. That said my friend / former coworker (the one who got me into this) does this for his mainstay income now. He averages $220 a day and does this 5-7 days a week plus taking care of his kids so it's doable for sure if you're committed I suppose.

From my experience, if you ever see a DOTCOM order that goes beyond 20 miles, do not take it unless it's more than $35. But if you see something like an ASAP for 25 miles worth $48, I would take something like that. Especially if it's going towards an incentive you know that you can meet.

Incentives are not guaranteed to be given daily or weekly in some markets. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of incentives since November/thanksgiving time til currently but before that there was a 2-3 month period where there were barely any and most times non! So depending on your state, city, and most importantly “Walmart zone” u could do really well or really poorly. Also how fast a store is or if the wait times are extra long. Lately one of the stores in my zone have been canceling orders if u check in anytime before :45 of the hour on a round Robin curbside order. Even 5 mins early and they cancel your order so it doesn’t hurt their store metrics and wait times smh total bs

People very much under estimate how much it costs to run a vehicle. When you add gas, insurance, wear and tear, depreciation, fuel, maintenance PLUS your time, you are loosing your arse and they know it. Quit fooling yourselves.
@stiteam8788
@stiteam8788 2 жыл бұрын
The current IRS write off per mile for 2023, is 65.5 cents. How do they arrive at that? Gasoline and wear and tear... that's what it costs you to run the average vehicle per mile.
@JimWooddell
@JimWooddell 2 жыл бұрын
@@stiteam8788 Generally, the expense of operating a vehicle is more than the IRS rate. It is generally far better to deduct the actual expenses rather than the per mile rate the IRS gives. That said, there is no such thing as "dead miles" in a transport job like this and costs associated with a return trip must be accounted for.....as is for any driving job. The fact you must be near a hotspot to get a trip or gig means you must return to that point, or you will seldom get a trip or gig. Someone closer will get it. There was recently a trip offer for $60 for a 103 mile trip. People would have to be out of their minds to accept such an offer, unless they needed to go there anyway. It was less than what the IRS would allow on the per mile rate. What makes these trips barely pay the expenses of the vehicle are the tips given by the customer, not what the Spark or Roadie pays.

@@stiteam8788 It is important to remember that the IRS allowance comes off of your adjusted INCOME not off of your tax bill. It's not like you are getting that much money back per mile. Most people in this space will only get back about 15 to 20 percent (effective tax rate) of their car expenses through mileage deductions. The difficulty is in the conceptualization of future costs and expenses for most people. Gas is only 30-50% of the expense depending on vehicle and that's the only factor most people consider and often only if they just bought it lol. (rant incoming) It is difficult to sufficiently game the various aps to make a delivery job worth it and effective. It requires personal research, trial and error and the ability to multitask and know where you are and where you are going even without a map. It requires ACTUAL driving/math/interpersonal/logistics/navigation/problem solving skill and not just the ability to drive. These 1-5% are the outliers that entice people when watching youtube videos :-) You can bet that if there are regular unskilled folks making good money on a particular ap in a particular area, someone (the ap companies) is going to put a stop to it at some point. Their entire existence as a parasite is to extract/divert as much money to themselves as possible at the expense of drivers (greatest), shops (2nd place) and customers (least affected). You have to know the game if you expect to win and it really is a hustle most aren't cut out for. Ultimately the problem is that the luxury of personal delivery has been democratized to include vast swathes of people who can't afford to pay for the service. If you live paycheck to paycheck, you can't afford delivery. That's ok. This includes people deep in to six figure income. The issue is one of entitlement and ignorance. They feel they deserve the service for what they are willing/able to pay, which is not how it should work and they are completely ignorant of the costs involved (but so are many drivers). All deliveries should be based on time, distance and difficulty- period, and it should not be possible for a driver to lose money on any delivery, ever. If a tip is involved it should be EXTRA, not something relied on. Under this proper model 70% of the delivery market would disappear, as it should. Funny, I don't see maids coming to clean my apartment for $5 base pay and a hope I tip them another $5 for an hour of work. No one should be taken advantage of while doing a service and we as human beings need to do better. We all exist in this central banking nightmare for now so how about we not take it out on our fellow citizens but on the ones responsible? Pay someone what it costs and not what you can afford. Your finances are irrelevant to the driver. Just because an ap suggests a level of tip/pay doesn't mean it's enough (usually not) and the minimum tip allowed is never enough. You can always go get it yourself, like I do. There's no shame certainly and you're protecting all involved from parasites ;-)

Are shopping jobs timed? If you don't get the shopping done within the time limit do they take away the order? I worked for another similar company, and received two orders at once. Almost had the first one done except for a few items, they had really odd things on their list, and the company grabbed the order back. I wasted over an hour trying to find this person's groceries and they grabbed the order back and I made zero for my time.

All these people misrepresent there money made with spark. In my area of okc. Spark pays 6.50 for a single. 3.5 per customer for a double. And 2.66 per customer for there new 3 customer orders. It normally takes the entire hour from start to finish to do the 2 and 3 customer orders the wat walmart has it set up in this area. So all these people saying they are making 60 dollars in 3 hours. Thats not a standard pay scale. That would be like some one at mcdonalds saying they make 20 dollars an hour because one week they got alot of overtime. Also that is gross money. So the 6.5, 7, and 8 dollar payout from walmart has to at the most basic business model be divided into thirds. 1/3 to taxes1/3 to expenses 1/3 to salary. So at the end of it all you are making around 2 to 3 dollars per hour from walmart. And just praying to god that theor customers tip you well

Your acceptance rate is part of the algorithm that is used to get orders. If you do not take the trips they offer you, you are punished. If there is one order, and one driver has a 96% acceptance rate and the other driver has an 88% acceptance rate and they are standing right next to each other, the driver with the better acceptance rate will get the offer.
