Considering that formula e was purpously designed much smaller, with virtually no downforce, less grip and "only" 320kph vmax in attack Mode it is clear that the F1 car outperforms the Formula E car. Due to that the electric racing series has much closer racing and thus providing for a more exciting viewer experience

The current MGU combined maximum for FE is already 600KW, which is quite a fast development for a sport that's less than a ¼ of the age that F1 is. You could probably give an FE car more power output than a F1 car today with some beefier motors, but the race would be 4 laps long. The electric motors aren’t the limiting factor the batteries are, its why you get utterly stupid stuff in FE like we saw a few months ago where no one wanted to be in the lead. Although by the same token F1 engines could also be a lot more powerful but they are restrained by the rules.

Interesting comparison, but make no mistake, current FEs are constrained by strategic choices (reducing tire costs, staying on city circuits, etc.). With a few minor changes this year's cars could easily go 10s faster in qualifying. Example, the FE has only one type of tire for the whole season while the F1 has 8 (6 slicks and 2 rains). The FE tires must last the whole race, those of F1 only a few qualifying laps. With only 2 types per season (1slick and 1rain) the FE could gain 3 to 5s per lap. In addition, the front engine is only used in regeneration. In 4WD, the power would increase from 470HP to 800HP... These changes should arrive in 3 1/2 years.

What has already leaked is that there is a very high probability that the Gen4 will have 2 types of tires. 1 rain tire and 1 slick tire. What has also leaked is that the Gen4 would be 600kW (at least in qualifying) so they don't really have a choice.

There's just not enough regen to make that possible right now. An F1 car can't sustain 160hp for a full lap every lap despite the car slowing down from higher speeds and having the MGU-H regen element. I wouldn't expect any dramatic regen developments in the next 3 years and especially not within the budget of FE.

I think they are WRONG for limiting FE as a quirky spec series. It should've been F1 but electric. They could correct all the things that's wrong in F1 rn. FE could have smaller cars, simpler aero with focus on reducing drag instead of downforce, but powerful torquey electric that should've made it at least accelerate a smidge faster than F1 in a short distance. Cost won't be an issue either with a super low cost cap. Instead, we got this awful representation of what an electric racing series could be.

Mate formula e started in 2014. F1 has been here since 70+ years ago. Obviously it is superior. But both sports have their fair share of gimmicks. But remember if in the near future formula e cars can be faster and lighter and have better aero. Then it's show time.

This got me most, when it started they had a "fan boost". Wtf was that? So the fans help decide the outcome? Since then, I felt and still do, it's far too gimmicky. You're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. But NOTHING beats the sound( even if these are subdued by V8, V10,V12 eras), the new ones are still damn loud. I love the sights and more importantly, the sounds, I don't need to listen to Dyson hairdryers go around a track the whole time. Boring af. Plain and simple for ME. not you. I don't care what you think. As I said I'm entitles to my opinion as you yours. Even though I have an electric car, I still have my loud V8 USA 502(7.4l),an AMG 6.2and numerous il6's and hot 4's.
