Is GP Shift Hard To Learn?

Today we take a test ride with some new mods on the Ninja 400: 2008 R6 throttle tube, lever guards, and Norton Motorsports rearset risers with GP Shift enabled. Enjoy!

The shifting isn’t hard to learn in particular…. it’s muscle memory. The longer you do it the more used to it your foot will get.

It's also good upshifting while leaned over to the left because there might not be enough clearance to get your foot underneath the lever.

GP shift is awesome for clutchless shifting rolling off the throttle because the weight of your foot along with the acceleration does all the work and I am used to it to the point that I can switch between my Gixxer GP shift to my cruiser normal shift seamlessly without issues.

You should do benchmark testing before you make the changes to see how those changes help you on a track. Would be a cool series to PSR build a monster 400. Keep it up brother.

WRT: Bar wobble at the first of ride. First road. Check tire pressure, obviously. But if you've run in a new bike, check/repack + redo headset preload in the first 2k miles. OR just when it gets cold and you pull the bike into the garage for the winter. Especially if braking hard on a track.

Try giving clutch less upshifting a try! Its just as fast as a quickshifter and once you get used to it you wont go back.

step on it to go fast! Gp shift is a benefit when cornering in left hand corners you do not have your foot underneath for the upshift you simply slide your foot forward and press down to accelerate. I don't have a 400 ninja in my dyno yet so I have no idea on the vibrations , try a set of pro grip 699 grips if the vibes are too much. What tracks are you heading to? So many so much fun.

Speaking for racing in a car. You don’t want to brake hard/ downshift during a turn because it’ll result in all weight shifting to the front wheels and the rear wheels can lose traction and make you slide out. I’m guessing it’s the same on a bike

I actually had gp shift on my first street bike ever, so I was the opposite, I had to get use to normal shift when I got another bike.

Maybe you’re mistaking gp shift with a quick shifter? Gp shift is a reversal of the pattern in which you shift. It has nothing to do with the clutch.

On most sport bikes you don't need a clutch to shift up or down just let off the throttle and bang gears
