Road worn guitars kinda feel like "Stolen Valor". The first thing someone will ask you is how long it took you to get it to that condition. You'd better be able to impress them with your playing after that. They may try to sell you their "Road Worn" Jeep. Dents, scrapes, mud.. Only 25% above retail.

14:20 is my favourite moment of this video.. If I’m not mistaken Lee seems to be shy/a bit lost for ideas as to what he should play, when he is demoing a guitar by himself. But Pete and Lee are very good friends, and I think that Pete knows how much talent Lee actually has and that he just needs a “backingtrack” to bring it all out. And sure enough - as soon as Pete starts to jam, and Lee plays on top of it, he just sounds like a completely different guitarplayer. Lee is a really skilled player and has great technique and feel, and Pete is a gentleman and a good friend for helping Lee out. I love you guys! And I also love these badass Telecasters. Best wishes from Denmark

NOTHING BEATS A TELE. Too bad these Teles were damaged during construction. I'd take one at half the regular price; these "relic" guitars are total bullshit, for posers who want to pretend they have an old guitar: why else? Next they'll be selling relic cars, right out of the showroom complete with dings and dents and paint damage; smart move. And incredibly, Fender is reissuing CBS-era guitars in their Vintera line, and silverface amps, stuff that in the seventies we considered to be total crap. The Player line is far superior, and cheaper. Good playing.

The intro was one of the best I’ve heard you guys play. Shades of Terry Kath all over the place. I was waiting for Chicago’s big brass sound to blast in! Great vid, thanks guys. I would like a new Tele, but I’ve just bought a new car too. Well, at my age, it was the only way I was ever going to get a 69...

these guys can "purple" all they like. how they can justify these prices is beyond me. c'mon lee get real. j. plus resale would be pretty poor , that's if you could find someone dumb enough to buy it. the mark up would be around 1000% over the true construction costs.

Took me 30 years to buy my first Tele. Felt like I should have one but knew I'd never play it live enough to spend a fortune on one so ended up buying a second hand Aria Pro II Frontline as a fixer-upper. Liked it so much I bought a brand new one recently and the neck and action on it is simply stunning for a £140 guitar. Love playing it and the slightly thicker neck and wider string spacing suit my large hands just great!!

The Captain is really a case study in what happens when you lock a guitarist in a room with a couple of amazing players and watch them grow. 'Bea, Pete and Rob has obviously rubbed off on him, his chops are only getting better.

@@adamski101 Oh, for sure - but he wouldn't have had that drive if he wasn't constantly being exposed to (and expected to hold up his end of) solid playing through all types of gear. Really a solid showing of what immersion does.

I love all these cool new Fenders but cannot, and I mean CANNOT, play a 21-fret guitar. I've bought several Telecasters and Stratocasters (including a 1969 - my birth year) and sold each. I can play 22 with certain kinds of music but prefer 24. Come on Fender, make more of these "classics" with and extra fret. For those people that will cry, "Twenty-one frets are traditional! WAH!" Well, guess what? Leo started the company to make cheap guitars with interchangeable parts. I wouldn't call $3,000, $4,000, $5,000, etc., etc. a "cheap" guitar especially when it's basically the same thing you can get in an American-made $1,000 Special... with 22 frets. Just saying. Cheers.

I think it's so funny here's Pete going all Toddler tantrum for yet another Fender Telecaster 3:30 when Paul Reed Smith gave him that stunning tigerburst PRS , brushstroke birds and all..... And Pete got all awkward and uncomfortable, knowing full well the tacit understanding was for him, the rising popular Utube personality, was to brandish this expensive, flashy PRS at every Anderton opportunity! But Pete was all, looking down band shuffling his shoes, "B-b-b- but Paul, Thank you, BTW, So, so much, it's just - I'm the kind of player who never likes to be tied down to just one brand.." True! That was how he weaseled out! But here he is, months later (I haven't seen him bust out the PRS once, have you?!) just positively drooling over a range of Telecasters...no different from the the day they were first produced! And heck! There's even a purple, relic'ed one there too, Pete! Can't be too far off yours, hey? But wait...Oh that's right, you don't like to be tied down to one make and model! That's what you said, wasn't it, Pete?! Pete!?!!

I’ve never gotten paying extra to have a guitar beat up. I’ve gigged with the same MM Stingray-5 for years. Got a Rick 4001 as well. Not a scratch on them. End of the gig before I breakdown the rig or anything I put the guitars carefully back in the cases. Now the cases look a used. I know a lot of good musicians. I’ve yet to see a beat up guitar among them. I think musicians have a love and respect for their instruments. I’ve seen 400 year old violins that look better than these custom beat up jobs. WHO DOES THIS TO A GUITAR? I look at these guitars and wonder, okay, I know it’s fake, but how’d anyone get those injuries on a guitar anyway? I know what it’s like setting up on stage at A clubs. Buying one of these seems like stollen valor anyway. YOU didn’t beat the crap out of it on tour for 30 years. What is the deal here? Anyone know? When I’m done playing I wipe the bloody figure prints off. What do you say when selling it, “other than looking like it was used to drive off Viking raids, it’s mint.” I guess they sell because they keep doing it, but if anyone out there has bought one of this things, please let me know why.

I find it hard to believe that un-reliced guitars don't sell. For me the relics are ugly.
@markscars1069

I don’t get, and never have, the relic look. I like something which is new, to look new. Or, if it’s lived a life, then look like it. But to make it LOOK like it’s lived that life, if that makes sense, is to me a little misguided. Naturally, I can understand why people like them, but I wouldn’t buy an aged guitar anymore than I’d buy an aged leather couch. If it’s gonna age, it’ll do so in my hands, not in a design studio.

Hmm... 4.000£ is too much for a "raggedy pair of jeans"-like guitar. And if I dinged a 4.000£ brand new guitar I would be preyty upset, relic or no relic. If i'd wanted a "confort" guitar, one that I wouldn't care if it's get beat up, it would be a cheap one, a second-hand Squier or something like that, not a CS. It's totally okay to like reliced guitars, it's an aesthetic choice, but I don't understand those rationalization.
