We don't need roadworn guitars, we just need all guitars to have nitro finishes so they end up looking like this naturally, none of this poly junk we have on every guitar now. Saying that, these are some fine looking guitars.

Florence Faulkner My poly-coated strat is 23yrs old, looks as good as new and sounds incredible. I love the nitro ones too.
@adamski1014 жыл бұрын
Depends if you're talking about the thick gloop of polyester or the thinner polyurethane that is applied to more expensive guitars. Not everyone wants a 1950s nitro finish ya know? It seems to be rammed into guitarists on forums that nitro is 'better' when it is merely a finish option. If you want a stinky fire hazard that will never fully cure but WILL age, crack and yellow to look like a vintage guitar over time then nitro is your thing. If you want a more protective, shiny and modern finish that won't crack or yellow over the years then poly is your bag. I have both and like both.

@@melvynobrien6193 Its only poser if youre trying to pass off you've played that guitar for many years,if you like the look, its no different from liking the look of a red shiney guitar. Its just fashion, cant blame the general fashion trends to change and its pretty cool it actually turned out to be something only time could create and no one thought of. I guess that happens when you dont innovate much in the guitar industry, its still 2 pieces of wood bloted together, lets get over ourselves here, wheres the carbon fiber 0 friction necks with rubberized grips and pickup processor, why are we still winding a wire around a magnet and getting upset that someone wants old magnets? Lets argue about some real specs.

To be clear, I'm not a hater, I just don't like them. I fully support "to each their own." If somebody is willing to pay what these guitars cost, good on 'em. But for me, I want my guitar that costs thousands of dollars to be shiny and new looking. And I'd be fine with it getting played, scratched, nicked and worn out naturally. It's not something I'd be precious about. I just don't find buying a fancy new guitar that looks like it's been played hard for 20 years appealing. But again, if that appeals to you, not hate. Enjoy.

I understand that the relic thing is a personal thing. My issue are with the areas of the guitar which have been worn.Surely a guitar wouldn't become worn on the top edge of the body just above the scratch plate, more likely it would wear out where the guitarist arm sits while playing? I think some people have a problem with some relic'd guitars is that there are so expensive and they can't imagine paying for something that looks all fucked up lol. It'd be awesome to have a guitar that looks like u got it from ur great grandfather or something plus like u guys say u don't have to worry about banging it on something. I know when I get a new guitar u tend to baby it the more it cost but that actually has u playing it less.... u got to remember it's made to get played and it's a tool made to be used. It helps the more guitars that u have and yeah sure if a guitar has sentimental value than baby it and I know some guitars like a classy prs u don't want to put a mark on it which is OK but why even buy it if ur gonna be afraid to touch her beauty. I used to buy a lofty guitar and be so melancholy when I put a ding or scratch on it but now I'm like fuck it now it's more rock and roll lol

My friend Mike who plays with Pittsburgh Band " The Rowdy Bovines", has offered his services for "cheapo" relicing.Basically you send the guitar to him in Pittsburgh,with enough moey included so he can buy lots of liquor.Leave it with him over the weekend and voila ,a guitar that you may be able to decipher the original hue.For more extreme relicing a guy in Florida named Dale will shoot your guitar one or more times.Which seems a little crazy ,but on second thought, actually very appropriate for Cowboy Bars,Gangster Parties,and Military events.Great Jam!.
