The Guardian averages 3 to 5 anti Corbyn articles a day. It is hard to see how they find so many angles to the same non story. The group think within the paper and the Independent and Huff Post all of which used to have more independent reporting is absolutely chronic. I hope it goes bust.

0.6%. That was the level of anti semitism under Corbyn. British general population have higher levels of anti semitism than the labour party. Conservatives had 4 times the level of anti semitism in their party compared to labour. But you wud never have known it by watching the British media.

Under Kier Starmer's leadership the backlog of over 10,000 complaints of anti-Semitism has been cleared resulting in the explosion of just 122 Labour members according to the latest figures from the NEC. Of those, we are told around 60 were members of Jewish Voice for Labour. How can anyone take this blatant smear campaign seriously? Just as Corbyn said, anti-Semitism was weaponised by the those inside and outside the party to bring him down.

Given the past track record, they will understandably presume that that is what ye will try to do once more. Look at this week alone, a Lab. Cllr called out for demanding the execution of Jews. It is fairly non stop at this stage and much of it seems to have to do with Jews being Jews rather than the numerous and vile crimes of Israel. Even Jews who are theologically opposed to the existence of Israel and Zionism are calling out Labour activists and the party to its attitude/blind eye to bigotry.

Being british i,ve actually been disgusted by the reaction of british media to this. Two flagship news shows, channel 4 news and bbc newsnight totally failed to give a balanced report on this issue. By balanced i mean they should have queried those making the accusations, their views on corbyn and their allegiances. In the case of channel 4 news they interviewed a 13 yr old girl who blamed corbyn for her being bullued at school because she was jewish. They also interviewed a gentleman who was a prospective conservative m.p. who had set up his own group with strong ties to jewish right wing groups. It also failed to give merit to jewish labour activists who supported corbyn

100% agree that the allegation is disgusting, just like the people making it. Just a technical aside: _Anti-Semitism is NOT racism, it is anti-jewish-faith._ This is an important distinction. While I am totally against racism, I am totally fine being anti-religion. While a person can change their beliefs, a person cannot change their colour.

I've noticed the tendency for some people to use words like, "Jewish" or "Jews" instead of "Zionist," "Israel" or "Israeli Government," which I find to be very problematic.. And when I question this I have been told "Who cares?" on a few occasions, and sometimes my comments have been misconstrued as being pro-Israel, pro-neocon, anti-Palestinian, and one time I was even called s "bleep" -ing racist for gently calling this wording into question. So I suppose I agree with Corbyn to some degree when he says this has surfaced in some parts of the progressive left....and I wonder if people here on this thread have experienced this phenomenon, and what they think. Also, if you choose to answer me, please keep in mind that I'm resonating with Aaron, Norman, & Jamie here, all the way.

That is social media for you. It is a difficult place to have an intellectual discussion. If you question anything about Democrats that you consider to be factually inaccurate you are accused of being a Trumptard when all you want is for the debate to be accurate and honest. It just becomes two sides shouting at each other. I haven't seen people conflating Jews with Israel very common though except from people who appear to be from the Middle East who understandably have very strong feelings and may be a bit intemperate. If anyone on the left does it I don't think they can really be considered progressive at least not in that respect.

To me, when anyone even criticizes Israel for what it is doing to Palestinians then they are labelled "anti-semites". Why does this work? Israel deserves deep criticism, I truly believe that. I am in the UK Labour Party and want Corbyn elected here and Sanders elected (or someone similar) in the US. However, this discussion was disturbingly one sided. The show asked a question but then had two speakers who were totally in unison agreeing that it was all a smear. This is intellectually feeble, you need to have opposing points of view to really test the argument. Novara Media in the UK just had a discussion and a pre-recorded interview with Finkelstein. Barnaby Raine (who is pro Corbyn) argued with his position and said that there have been instances of anti-semitism in the Labour Party which have been serious and there is still much work to route out the culprits and kill off the issue; kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKmof2Ona757nJI Nothing is gained from saying "It's all a smear." For anyone looking at the facts objectively this obviously isn't true. And Corbyn himself in his video makes this point strongly. You only get over a problem when you admit there is a problem, then and only then you can see clearly the course of action to finally kill off this as a long running story in the media. One obvious thing Labour needs to do is bring in more staff and resources to their complaints procedure; there are still a ton of cases that haven't been heard yet despite the leadership saying they would be by the middle of the summer.
