@@extrage3061 That's because the gun is tied to your first person perspective. It won't change, but the outside of the character's model will. If you take a closer look, when the beginning cutscene ends right when doom slayer grabs the pistol, the camera will warp based on the settings the player had configured. As you can see, the game looks more stretched than it normally would.

It follows the life of comedian Arino Shinya over the course of twenty years as he goes from being a thirty-something who hadn't played games since his childhood to a Retro Gaming Master. It's really comfy, and a great way to learn about gaming history. It even has its own video games based on the show, and they're actually really fun. If it wasn't clear already, it's one of my favorite TV shows.

This reminds me of something I read once where someone was talking about hiring for their game magazine and that playing a game was part of the interview process because one time they did an interview with someone and it went great, they had a great resume so just for funsies the interviewer was like, "Hey, let's play some Mario Kart." So, they handed a controller to the guy and set the TV and N64 up and when they looked back to him, he was holding the controller like sideways or something, just completely off and so they didn't hire him.

From my own experience teaching my dad to play fps games (he struggles to turn the tv on with a remote and tape over any extra buttons) turning the sensitivity down a lot helps a ton. Plus showing him that he can look around while moving and shooting. Bundle those together and after a few tries he’ll start actually shooting this super consistently

3:36-4:10 I find it embarassing that a “professional” game journalist for Polygon was beaten in clearing the first room faster by Charlie’s father, someone who is not familiar with video games, hasnt played a game of this caliber for 20 years and is more comfortable with racing games. Like yeah he didnt do as well in the second room, but it still shocking that his dad, someone who is not that familiar with these types of games, did a better run in the first room than someone who calls themselves a “professional” from the dumpster of Polygon.

This was so wholesome! You can tell that what your dad is struggling with is the 3D aspect, which makes sense if he's not played a game for 20 years. He kept moving as you would in a 2D game and actually did well with that. But when it came to moving and aiming at the same time, that's where he started struggling. I think he'd be a beast with more practice.

I remember reading somewhere that older generations have trouble with games because they are use to keyboards and mouse for typing. Where in you only hit one button at a time no matter how fast, but games are harder to learn because it throws that muscle memory out of wack by requiring multiple button and mouse combos at the same time.

this reminds me of the time when I was in highschool and my dad retired from his first job. He took about a 3 month relaxation period, so I introduced him to CS:Source and my favorite servers. Within a couple of weeks he was better at the game than I was and was a highly regarded killer in the deathmatch server. It got to the point when he asked if I wanted to play I hoped he joined my team; if he didn't then I would kiss my ass good-bye.

Lucky. Back in 2018 i showed my 51 year old dad Fortnite and he plays like the polygon employee. The surprising thing was he got like 2 kills in the 50 v 50 gamemode. Imagine being so bad at fortnite you lose my dinosaur of a dad. Im not usually a trash talker but at that point they need to just uninstall the game lmao

This low key makes me wish that I could be taught how to play modern FPS games by my son. Seems so wholesome and fun. I remember trying to get my mom to play MW2 all those years ago. She couldn't quite grasp that you had to control the feet and the head at the same time.

this is actually pretty cool. i didnt think watching a professional gamer would be interesting, its boring if the game is too easy, but i enjoyed it. also every time he said "fuck that guy" or "bitch" i laughed. im a child at heart i guess, old people swearing still gets me.
