i wonder if languages would re-emerge over time as they are so connected to the land. the indigenous language recovery groups here in canada say that to the learn the language is to learn the land. they say over and over again that the animals and plants taught them everything they know. all our medicines, through plants, through laughter, through storytelling around a fire - these seem like gifts from the earth just as it offers us sustenance in our physical lives. it also sustains our way of being! this is what you are saying! the spirit of the land teaches us through all its means in how to exist here. some might say she is a mother.

As a linguist, I can provide an answer to your wonderings. This would never possibly happen and the same language could never possibly independently emerge at two separate points in time. The land doesn't actually have that much of a role in shaping our languages. Sorry.

So good, reliefing and refreshing to hear your voice in the babel of neo-paganism and neo-shamanism. Looking forward to the announced talk on how to create new animistic ceremonies. We are experimenting a lot ourselves and are always happy for inspiration.

A lot of the concepts you cover on your channel are those that are reflective of my own experiences and dialogue with the Ginnreginn. If we are having similar concurrent dialogues that adds to our ability to say this is valid, and ultimately, since we're talking religion, validity is a lived expression between the Ginnreginn and ourselves.

Disclaimer: at this point I'm a third into the video but the call of the office I cannot ignore. At least until the clocks says 17:00 :P Being historical is for historians. I do love history but it's not leading in my animism. Even if we could perfectly know how it was, I'd think practice differed in both time and place. A hundred years or a hundred kilometers apart? I bet of shorter seperations will show differences. I use historical sources as inspiration just as I do animist practices from other places from then and now. Even within my present group of asatru we are not exactly the same. We do have shared rituals. An example is that I try to find a relationship with electricity in the way others do with fire.

You are correct that some things just come inherently with some sort of perception of power being built into it... Some people feel like they need secret words or some secret recipes to build their land connectivity - when really, it could just be them all on their own. As humans continue into modernity, things that are considered historical are just going to be things that are of the natural world. Water, dirt, rocks, native plants - using these things to establish relations will be considered historical on the basis that that is what the historical peoples had available to them. Now, as we move forward, there are many more things available to us that we may or may not choose to use for building relations. All sorts of modern things to make different music, there are modern-day altars and things to put on them and crystals and all that sort of thing that some people really get into. Just like the carved idol of Freyr... Whether it was a representation of Freyr in the (all sacred all knowing super powerful part of idyllic history of your choosing) past is no longer really part of the PRACTICAL conversation because it is definitely Freyr now. I have always gotten the sense from your videos that you value practical ways for how to create these relations in MEANINGFUL ways. Even if those ways are not historical, or ARE historical - it's almost irrelevant where it comes from. It just has to be meaningful to those who are engaging in building the relationships. If it has a cool backstory, so be it. But it's not -- or, it shouldn't be -- a requirement for strong relations between each other and any other than humans. Thanks for a great video!

As a regenerative farmer. A person who grows & raises food in a manner and way that is as close to our Ancestoral ways, I can with confidence assure you Animism is the ROOT of the 👉eagrarian lifestyle. Our ancestors acts in spiritual offerings to the land to the trees.....all had phys scientific reasons that were manifest in spiritual intentions. In my opinion, the God's are a Later concept, and I believe our ancestors looked at the God's as a manifestation of the Natural worlds Power. The contexts of God's as we think today was mainstream after the Abrahamic faiths spread. Each germanic norse God has a Nature based Persona.

I wouldn’t adhere to strict historical heathenry either. It’s interesting and meaningful to learn about it but we can’t pretend that what is now is historical at all ❤

Welcome. I would have a huge request. Could you add Polish subtitles to your videos. This is extremely important to me. I would love to focus on the content, but unfortunately my English is not perfect. I would be very grateful. Thank you very much in advance

I would very much like to! - If you find a person capable and willing to volunteer the work of Polish subtitling, then I am happy to make contact and facilitate that the work can start. A person is allready working German subtitles

It might be possible to do a translation quite easily by lets say using a voice to text AI, and then translate it with another AI or just google translate. You still need to have a person (perferable native to that language) read through it and quality assure it though... But the workload would be significantly reduced.
