In the FREE MARKET Wal-Mart would still allow truck parking. Unfortunately so many truck drivers have pigged up the free parking lots, so now we all have to pay.

True n most stores know drivers that are doing it but would rather have the mentality that all drivers are that way then penalizing the few bad drivers

Truck drivers in general have become barely housebroken pigs. If I had a piece of property, I'd charge them also. That might help with the trash pick up and removal?

Absolutely it’s wrong. Truckers already have it tough, and the prices in these truckstops are ripping us off as is. Having to pay for parking is next level exploitation. AND, most companies will not reimburse the driver.

Because other drivers mess things up for everyone.. truck stops are degrading, full of trash and smells like piss. Why? because its free no one cares for it.

Im with you on that. Personally, I rarely buy anything from truck stops. Way way overpriced. Besides, that garbage food blows you up like a balloon. Get a quality air fryer and stock up on beef , eggs and other meats. Stay away from processed crap. Eat clean. As an owner operator, company drivers should not have to pay for anything on that truck. Thats the companies responsibility. Paid parking is here to stay. It is what it is .

Yes definitely, I cook on my truck and not only save money but with Walmart plus they deliver groceries,etc right to my truck at the truck stop I've even had delivery to some rest areas, no delivery charges when you sign up for Walmart plus,(cost me about 100 bucks a year and we'll worth it saves me a lotta time to,order right thru the app). I can be in the middle of no where and eat healthy n great food. Like you I have an air fryer, also microwave, crockpot, toaster, and George Foreman grill. I agree definitely better to cook on your truck.

No, it's not wrong. Idk why people think that. If you don't wanna pay, don't...get a violation...etc. I like it. It shows whom the cheap drivers are. Plus, if I want a spot, it's there. Quit complaining, people.

$10 per night 50 trucks=$182,500 per year. Everyone should open a truck parking lot.

That’s one of the reasons why I hate going to California just about everything that I have been around was paid parking like $30 a night company say they were reimburse but I have bought $30 worth of stuff and didn’t get reimbursed. I’d rather just stay out of California.

I Agree. If your Conpany make the Appt at 1600 and you have to Park and only Available is Paid spots. Also I use the Points from Company paid Fuel for Spots as well

That should be on your list of questions before onboarding. What do I do with the truck when off duty? I just tell a company upfront that I do not pay for parking. If you send me somewhere that requires parking and you do not pay, I will risk the ticket or tow. The same goes for hometime. Using your personal phone is also an issue with me. The company wants you to load up all kinds of tracking software on your phone with no reimbursement. My last company I think that is why I was let go because I did not have a proper phone for there software. Always getting calls saying can not track you. But then they know where the truck and trailer are at all the time so why use my phone?

Agreed. With the amount of IFTA taxes, registration taxes, tolls, etc etc collected from trucking operations, setting some aside for parking spots along the roads on existing vacant land should be feasible.

As a driver, i hate paid parking and avoid it as much as possible. But i also understand that the people who own the truckstops have to pay out alot in taxes and overhead to keep it open. Company should pay if paid parking is needed, but it can be an extra hassle or delay to get reimbursed.

The biggest issue for truck drivers is hours of service… parking is an issue because our hours are regulated by the government .

My understanding is that the reason people are pissed is because they're not only going to businesses with lots to sign on new places, they're finding places that already offer free parking and then convincing them to sign up and make money on it instead, therefore reducing the number of free options out there.

So many times us Truckers get stuck at the shipper or receiving for hours and it suck during the late evening and you know your going to struggle to find parking. Everyone needs to be thankful and grateful for paid parking especially for this parking apps because you never know if there one close to your destination where you could reserve and relax without the struggle. And most important they need money to keep up with the maintenance of the parking lot. So show your appreciation

Look I am a company driver, I will not drive for ANYONE that does not pay for parking, period. Now I believe in use and not abusing it, if there is free parking available I will use it and if not I go for the paid parking, planning included. In well over 1.5 million miles I've only driven for two companies so I'm no job hopper. For the newbies out here, put your questions together and prioritize that which is the most important and stick with it. If they are not somewhat reputable than don't drive for them, do your research!! I use the apps for most all paid parking n my cc. and submit the receipt and it's on my next check. Now know that a parking ticket is a whole lot more than paid parking, not to mention the crap that will go with that. So be smart and refuse any company position that will not pay for parking when you need it, and don't abuse it by parking every day when you could have easily taken a free spot.

It's private property. They make parking free cause they expect other business from drivers. Expecting it for free is people feeling entitled. Now a driver choosing a paid spot for convenience and late arrival is all on them.

You know what? Trucking is one of the shittiest industries in the world. It's the only industry that does not pay you for your experience. And this problem with parking isn't the owner of truck problem as Mark is saying. It's always been drivers fault that truckstops and other places have payed parking. Bc drivers can't clean up after themselves and places have to pay someone else to clean up after drivers.

Mark, tuff love here. Shave that beard off or keep it short. Its hideous to look at. You arent bad looking but the beard is not working for ya. I always reseve parking ahead of time when going into areas with few spaces. Its just good trip planning to know where you will be staying and how far to go. If i provided parking for trucks and saw it full off pee and trash and damage, id charge all day long too.
