@@thecasualracinggamer did you turn it back up the game? About 75-80% on the headset and exposure and saturation at 100% in the game is a pretty sweet spot 👌glad you are enjoying it. I have kept away from online racing since I have had vr whilst adjusting. As a general rule I get to around 2secs off the fastest qualifying times in around 5laps instead of 20 in 2d now and so much more consistent. So that's great when working full time and trying to compete with people playing this full time for a living. BUT! Shaving 10ths from there is much more difficult in VR so far. I think it's purely down to the realism and natural instinct not wanting to die tbh 🤣 . In 2d you almost go past the limit without a care and work backwards until you can hold on to a corner. I was on the brink of A* rating and you really need to be qualifying top 5 minimum to progress in there and compete with a majority of full timers. Keep up the great work.

@corey_massey Жыл бұрын
@@SargeantMorse As someone with a Metaquest 2, a HP Reverb G2 and a pretty decent PC, i think that we need to be clear here and say that PSVR2 "screen door effect" is something that you have to be absolutely looking for in order to spot. The average player is not going to see it in the same way someone who is looking for it is. I have tried almost every VR headset available with the exception of some of the more exotic and expensive headsets (Pico 4 doesn't ship to the US and Best Buy doesn't carry the Pimax headset displays anymore) and every single one of them have the screen door effect if you are looking for it. So the question is not whether the headset or any consumer level headset has it, the question is to what degree is it intrusive enough to affect image quality and that is where I think alot of PSVR2 only people are coming from when they say that "there isn't a dirty screen or screen door effect". For example, on the Metaquest 2 the screen door effect is noticeable.... even if you have it hooked up to a 3090, its noticeable. You don't see it as pronounced as it is in the standalone mode but it is there. My Reverb G2 (the upgrade i got for my PC VR setup) has it, not as bad as the Metaquest 2, but I would put it on par with the PSVR2. When we get into the Metaquest Pro, the HTC ViVe and the Index....they have it but the effect is drastically minimized and these are 1500.00 just for the headset alone. So when we talk about these things in the spectrum of VR we need to be aware that if you are spending 500.00 pr 550.00 for a VR headset.....you are likely going to get a bit of screen door. Is it enough to be unplayable.....NO! Is it enough to be a huge negative.....probably for someone coming from a much more expensive headset.....but if you are on a Metaquest 2 headset..... perhaps not so much....I have seen the Metaquest 2 hooked up to a 4090 and the image quality is not what I would call at the level of my PS5 + PSVR2 on the same games, and without mods there isn't a sim racing game on PC that looks as good as GT7 (my subjective opinion). While I wouldn't say that PC + Metaquest 2 is a bad experience, we have to acknowledge that the Metaquest 2 maximum resolution output is 1832x1920 per eye and the PC (no matter how powerful) is just downscaling to that screen. The clarity between that and the 2000x 2040 per eye is noticeable especially when we discuss the screen door effect which is caused by not having enough pixels to completely fill in the screen when the image is projected into 3d.

1. It's REprojection, not REARprojection. 2. Sony themselves only expose 120hz native, 90hz native or 120hz reprojected from 60. 72hz isn't on the table. Polyphony might be criticised for not enabling 90fps as an option, but we don't know anything about the codebase or architecture. The engine might be hard coded for 60. It might be incompatible from a physics or netcode perspective. It might have looked like a PS4 game. It might drop a lot of frames at 90fps in VR on PS5 hardware (I think this is incredibly likely; as a 2080ti owner, I had issues keeping a stable 90 outside of iRacing & AC, and the PS5 is closest to a 2070). No way of knowing unless they wanna talk about it.

Then maybe purchase just the headset next or a wheel and pedals next. Go step by step before going all in. Purchase items where you can return in case it's just not for you. I mean when I do set it up, if I get motion sickness, within minutes, it won’t even be worth playing. Although, I keep trying to push through, go through hell and then literally am too anxious to put the thing back on and go 2-4 days without play and I’m just unsure if doing this, will make my motion sickness, stay with me because I keep taking a few days break. Like, I really wanted to buy this DJ controller that plugs into laptop, a small pair of speakers, cheap laptop and an amp. Looks like you play PC SIM racing with a Rift S and Quest 2... those are low end headsets graphically... so compared to those headsets the PSVR2 is significant upgrade... however, even with those headsets it should be clear that GT7 was not optimized for VR racing... no ability to change your wheel to the racing wheel you are using, watered down graphics, and lack of customization on GT7 compared to PC racing is obvious. If your main goal is VR sim racing... Its a hard pass on PSVR2... There are so many better optimized racing games on PC even for a Quest 2 to justify the purchase. GT7 is nothing special technically to justify it over all the games that are on PC like Asseta corsa, Project cars racing, iracing, Automobilista... You are telling people to go to an ecosystem with a lack of customization and only one game... Id wait for Quest 3 to come out at the end of the year before buying a PSVR 2 unless you are getting both.

I'm not telling people to go to PS5 over PC and even though on paper PSVR2 is a higher spec headset the Quest 2 often can look better in sharpness and clarity. My point here is if you like GT7 as a racing game and own a PS5 already, the headset is worth it to play the game in VR. You will get use of the headset for the next few years just for GT7 alone. If you want a true hardcore sim, then yes a PC is the way to go but be prepared to spend twice the amount of the money. Not everyone can afford that.

I wish the whole game was VR. It takes you out of the immersion between races and feels more like an afterthought.

Having gone from a T150 to a T-GT some years ago. Upgrading the wheel is a more important part of the immersion than PSVR 2.
@thecasualracinggamer Жыл бұрын
I don't think you get the immersion from the wheel as much as it helps complete the immersion. A great wheel on a flat screen will never make you feel like your in the actual car.
@Datboypossse Жыл бұрын
IMHO, immersion isn't just what you see; it's also what you feel. PSVR2 changes the game from a visual standpoint, but upgrading the wheel will change the "feeling" of fidelity in the game. Feeling the road surface, the engine , the tires slide, the curbs, the grass, the rwd vs. fwd of the cars is just as important to me.

Have to disagree. Vr is truly next level in terms of realism. You are actually sat in the car in full stereoscopic 3d. Everything is to full life scale. You can only see the inside of the car and the track around you, not your living room. VR is a game changer.

I know you say it is worth it, but I really just think you're trying to justify the cost to your wife. Lol Let's be real here. You're going to spend: $550 $ 42 So, over $600 with tax to play one game... because there is only one vr racing game on PS5? That doesn't even factor in if you don't have a PS5. On PC, sure because there's many different vr driving games .. but that much for just one driving game in vr? Doesn't seem worth the price of admission when there are other options for close to the same price as a ps5/psvr2 bundle that have far greater options.

LOL. All kidding aside, I don't need to justify the purchase to my wife. Also, this assumes people can actual afford the headset. Without a doubt I think a single good racing game justifies the purchase of a VR headset over 15 VR games of other genres that once you beat them you won't ever play it again. GT7 has a replay value that will keep you coming back for a long time. To me, the bottom line is will this 1 game give you enough gameplay to keep you using the headset for the next year or so. That is more important then if there are 30 other VR games available that you will never play.

So if i don't have a PC.....the price of admission to PC VR is at least 1500.00 for a decent VR capable PC and then another 400.00 for a Quest 2 and i haven't even gotten into taxes and we are talking well over 2000.00 to play racing games that don't look as good as GT7, and play these games on a headset that isn't as good as the PSVR2..... Sounds to me like someone is trying to justify why they don't have a PS5 and PSVR2 just for GT7.

@Corey Massey Sounds to me like you're trying to justify the ps5 vr... but a PC will always give you more for your dollar, not to mention there's so much more available on pc vr. Buy whatever you want. Just know with psvr2 you're locked into a system that can never be updated. I have the original psvr, it sits and gathers dust because the PC far surpassed it years ago and there is no way to upgrade it. Same will happen for the psvr2.
@corey_massey Жыл бұрын
@@tensix5481 Not like this bruh...not like this. Please tell me how you intend to upgrade a Metaquest 2 1832x1920 per eye resolution? When a device is no longer supported its usefulness is done, the funny thing is....there were games releasing on PSVR1 all the way upto PSVR2 release so all that talk of a headset collecting dust is either you upgraded (meaning that you brought a newer better headset) or you don't follow or play VR games like that and your headset is collecting dust from lack of use. If you brought a newer headset then your point about upgrading on PC VR is stupid because thats the exact same thing people are going to do when a PSVR3 comes....they are just going to buy the newer, better headset. If your PSVR1 headset is collecting dust because you don't follow or play VR games like that then sounds like you shouldn't be out here talking about PC VR is better, you should be investing in a newer better headset because there much better headsets out there than a PSVR1.

Sony fanboys: psvr2 output @4k, clarity better than varjo aero, HDR, perfect black, Foveated rendering to 120fps butter smooth, better optimization on PS5 easy to beat PCVR with 4090, plus haptic feedback, blurry? you must be wearing it wrong, ghosting? wait for day one patch, restore ps5 to default and reinstall the game again, If your faith is strong enough you'll see perfect image😂😂😂

Can't argue with your opinion but can you give more detailed info on your experience with the game and PSVR2 and why you say this.
