Dr. Jason Fung proves that reversing type 2 diabetes is possible. But even better, reversing diabetes does not require expensive drugs or surgery. In fact, type 2 diabetes, being largely a dietary disease, can be reversed by changing the diet. That puts it within reach of everybody. Check out my blog at / drjasonfung

Dr Fung=HERO. Let's give this man all the help we can, spread the message, and pray for him. All of us following his advice come from different situations, obesity, diabetes, cancer, depression, etc, and were once in need of proper guidance. My life, not just my physical health, has taken an INMENSE change, and Dr Jason Fung has been a big part of my journey since 2018, when I most needed TRUTH of what to do to recover from a downward spiral. Think of the millions who are going to die because they're told there's no way to regain their health. This man gives hope, and what he teaches WORKS. Let's make it a priority to help him out.

I have impatiently waited to write this. Here are the stats. 60yr old male, Likely insulin resistant for years. On May 12 2021 my hemoglobin A1c came back 10.3 up from 7 in January of the same year. My weight was 217 (BMI 30.5). I lowered my weigh to 210 by May but stalled. My Dr. sent me home with an Rx for metformin and directions to, you guessed it, loose weight and exercise more. At least he told me that I was insulin resistant. My research led me to Dr. Fung and the KZbin series. I followed Dr. Fung's recommendations and ignored all the other self proclaimed experts out there in KZbin land and stayed focused on the goal of reversing my insulin resistance. Yesterday I had my 3 month follow up. Weight 177, BMI 24.5, and A1c 6. I was taken off my medication. I do daily intermittent fasting and bounce between 16/8 20/4 and OMAD. So enthused is my doctor he encouraged me keep at it and try and get off the Statin and blood pressure meds as well. I bought the book, I have the CODE, and the CODE gives me power to win. Thank you Dr. Fung. My life has been changed.

I have experienced alot of death in my life. Mom/dad/aunts/uncles/grandparents all dying at early ages. May 8th my max weight was 360lbs. I was following the SAD and never lost weight. I came across Dr. Fung's videos and this changed everything for me. I got a severe sinus infection producing heavy mucus when i coughed and sneezed. My blood pressure also spiked. Doctors meds didnt help at all. I also got hoarsed lost my voice. Around May 24 i started a 10 straight day water fast. On day 4 my blood pressure dropped to 107/67. Day 5 mucus production was cut in half and my voice was recovering. I lost 20lbs in those 10 days. I then went on a whole food plant based diet when i started back eating and so far have lost a total of 42lbs. I would also go 15 hours without eating 3-4 days a week. Thank you Dr. Fung. My goal weight is to weigh 250lbs or less by the new year.

I had been pre-diabetic in 2019, reversed that with fasting and lower carb diet, cutting out added sugars. The pandemic hit and I gradually slid out of fasting. My husband died in January 2021 and I went off the deep end eating sugary junk and "comfort food". I was just diagnosed right after I decided to turn it back around at the end of June. I'm doing 18/ and 20/4 so far about every day. I've given up all the terrible things I was eating. My A1C was 6.3 so no meds and I'm busy turning this thing around. I'm back to doing yoga for 15 minutes daily and meditating. I've lost about 20 lbs already and feeling really great! This works. It absolutely WORKS. THANK YOU, Dr. Fung~!!!

@@RajeevKumar-xe3mn yes...stop taking any drugs immediately... Drugs will mask the problem (the body needs to respond to the IF not the Metformin or whatever drug to get maximum effect). It's not dangerous to stop the diabetes drugs for a week while u try something new. Focus on intermittent dieting The FREQUENCY OF FOOD eaten (not the AMOUNT OF FOOD EATEN OR TYPE OF FOOD ) is the key to reducing diabetes. Within 3days your diabetes with start to reset to zero just eating once or twice a day (stop eating 3timrs a day, stop snacking in between meals)... You need at least 16hrs to allow your body to start to starve itself to reset the pancreas...hence frequency is most important to reversing diabetes. Job done !

Thank you Dr. Fung....your videos gave me the confidence to take control of my Type 2 ...just thought I should share this and I would've been in a worst situation if it wasn't for your videos. Was diagnosed with type 2 at the end of Feb with BS level at 36. Was put in metformin 500g twice a day. I only took my med for 2 weeks because I wasn't feeling great with its side affects. Changed my diet instead - no sugar, very low carb, no processed food, good fat only, 50% of protein, loads and loads of veggies and leafy greens of all variety, 4-5 L of water and exercise dialy and intermittent fasting 16/8....avg BS fasting was high 5 to low 6, avg post meal was mid to high 7. Went in for a blood test prior to my first virtual call with an endocrinologist 2 months ago....she said all is fine and asked me about my weight. I explained that I had loss about 30 pounds just before I was diagnosed with type 2. She then explained that I will need to gained some weight back and prescribed a higher dosage of Metformin plus another drug Sitagliptin so I can eat as much as I want without having to worry about my blood sugar...... needless to say, I didn't take these pills and my BS is getting better each week....... In fairness, she doesn't know my history, I realized afterward that I weight the same as I was in my 20s...and I'm eating healthy except no grains, sugar or starchy food..... Just thought it was crazy... A 3 minute phone call would end up with a stronger dosage of Metformin plus another drug just so that I can eat more food.

I was around 130 kg with Type II diabetes, on Metformin tablets four times a day and suffering from blindness. I decided to do something about it in November of 2019 and in two months I lost about 12 kg just by exercising and eating tuna sweetcorn laced with vegan mayonnaise. There were times I had wholemeal tuna sandwiches and drank nothing but water. I couldn’t go to the gym anymore as my gym partner split but I decided to set up a home gym and went and lost another 18 kg in a few months in the process. My routine was made up of core exercises, strength training and cardio exercises. Would spend about two hours working out before midday breakfast. Now having lost around 30 kg, I noticed that I cannot fast intermittently for 16 hours as my blood sugar would drop dangerously low and my head would start to spin slightly. I noticed now that having sugar is actually beneficial as it brings up my glucose levels to normalise for me. I truly believe that with the right exercises and diet, along with periods of intermittent fasting, as Dr Fung has already said, you can actually reverse this disease. Never give up. Keep going till the end. Sending out my love and respect from the UK.

@@SimpleFlight For me, one of the best things about ditching my medication is that my blood sugar never bottoms out, because the control system in my body is working. When I was on insulin and meds, I would sometimes wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat as my blood sugar tanked. How long did it take? I immediately cut my insulin in half. My blood sugar showed slightly better control. After 4 days, I stopped meds and all insulin. Within a week, I had better blood sugar numbers than on insulin. After 4 weeks, I was seeing glucose numbers that were much better than I had seen in 20 years. I'm not perfect, last night I had a couple of beers and a small sliver of cake last night. My glucose spiked at about 155. With my old diet and insulin, I was routinely seeing spikes above 300.

Can u eat carb and still maintain normal sugar. Have u tried it anytime with high carb meal after reversing diabetes
@san-ju30
@san-ju30 Жыл бұрын
@@nitishvidyadharan8240 Initially, you need to be on low carb. After it’s reversed, I maintained that for some time. Nowadays I do eat a high carb meal once in awhile and my blood sugar is around 5.5 most of the time. If you keep taking high carb meals all the time, your blood sugar might go up a lot. It’s not all about carbs though. I once ate a small square out of a bar of hazelnut chocolate once a day for 14 days. Total was 2 large bars of chocolates. My 3-month average blood sugar went up by 0.3. The same happened when I had 1 kg of lychees and 1 kg of Longans (sweet fruits) over 2 weeks (like 3 or 4 times per week). My doc says I’m super sensitive to fructose. So it really depends on your body. Best is to listen to your own body.

I've been following Dr Fung for weight loss. I'm down 90lbs so far since November. I feel so well! I'm off my blood pressure meds and my osteoarthritis pain is so much better that I'm able to be active again. I'd love to be a weight loss coach. Surprisingly, when I've told people what I'm doing, I get eye rolls and ppl tell me they could never do it. They really don't believe me when I tell them I don't get hungry. They tell me I've got great will power....🙄. I've dieted on and off my whole life and it's never been so easy for me. Understanding how it all works and why (The Obesity Code), just makes so much sense! Thank you for all you do!

I just read a comment the other day that insulin resistance was irreversible, written by someone who had never even tried fasting. As many times as I've tried to explain it or recommend people in that community to watch your videos, most people there just refuse to look into a different point of view. We're at this point in society where so many people think humans know everything, but the reality is that we as a species are so ignorant because knowledge and critical thinking are suppressed. If their current method for weight loss isn't working, why not research another way, see if it makes sense, and give it a try? That's my mindset. I'm glad I've experienced life-changing benefits from exploring the hormonal side of things with your guidance and others!

I still stay using the word "reversed" is wrong. Controlled is more appropriate. As a type 2 diabetic that was on the verge of having to go on insulin (6.9 a1c) on 2 diabetic medications, I was able to not only lose 80+ lbs via keto and fasting, My a1c got down to 4.9 and completely off all meds. Reversed implies "fixed or back to normal". As long as I eat keto and continue fasting my diabetes is technically gone if your going by the numbers but its still there. You can't go back to eating those carbs or it will return. I been fasting and keto for a couple years now thanks to finding Dr Fungs videos and I love him for putting them out there and frankly, probably saving my life. I decided to take a few months off fasting and go back to a less keto diet. Still keto most of the week but 2-3 days a week eating what ever I want (yet still avoiding most White foods). My diabetes returned, My a1c went back up to 6.4. After spending 2 years at 4.9-5.2 A1C, blood sugars always below 100, I went to 6.4 with blood sugars sitting at 160. I am now back on the fasting and keto track but that shows mine was not reversed just well controlled.

@@xDoomsdayx You are objectively wrong. T2 diabetes and being fat are nothing to do with each other. It is only the liver fat that matters for t2 diabetes and that accumulates only slowly over many years of bad eating. If you get rid of the liver fat then t2 diabetes will reverse AND you will not have it happen again until you stuff the liver full of fat over time.
@xDoomsdayx
@xDoomsdayx 3 жыл бұрын
@@LTPottenger I didn't say anything about Type 2 and weight having anything to do with each other. I simply stated I had type 2 and I lost 80lbs during my keto and fasting days. I have thousands of hours fasting. For the first 6 months of fasting I was doing 3 42 hour fasts a week with occasional 72 hour fasts thrown in. According to my dr which btw balked at the idea of me fasting, he ended up being very impressed and has come around to the idea, He says my liver is in great condition. You may heal your fatty liver but the damage can already be done that not reverseable. Thus "reversed" I feel is the wrong word. Sure it may be reversed in some folks but in general I don't feel that's going to be most. Diabetes is still damaging your body so you don't know how much damage it has done by the time you find someone like Dr Fung that can point you in the right direction. I just have a problem with the word reversed being used. Again, technically if you go by the numbers it is reversed but only if you stay on that lifestyle path and don't go back to eating a lot of carbs. At least in my case anyways.
@toml9566
@toml9566 3 жыл бұрын
@@xDoomsdayx Thanks for your sharing. My understanding from the above debate is that if someone is still in early stage of Type 2 Diabetes before too much damage is done, that can be reversed by Fasting. But if someone stays Type 2 for too long and some non-trivial damage has been done, he/she would have to stay Fasting forever to stop the symptoms of Type 2. In that regard it's not entirely reversible.

He had taking me off my metformin about a month ago I thought it was because it was causing kidney issues but I could be incorrect about that. So he decided to put me on insulin at night before bed. I was doing low carb but still my blood sugars weren’t coming down. I decided to start fasting and eating only one meal a day. Anyhow in just days my blood sugars are between 4.1 and 9.8 and I’ve lost 7 pounds. I can hardly believe it. Thank-you Dr. Fung. I’ve been a type 2 diabetic for 40 years.

My day and evening numbers are usually 88-110, with 95-105 being about average. I only reduce carbs (and avoid all simple carbs)--no fasting yet. But I DO need to stop snacking (especially at night). That should help everything. I've lost 58lbs, but have about 80-90lbs more to go.

You recognize that snacking, especially at night, is a problem. I hope you have been able to stop snacking and eat 0-3 meals a day to control your insulin. Have you started any fasting yet?

@@AzaleaBee : I have only fasted two times for 24 hours, but I had bad vertigo for a month (vestibular neuritis) and that made life hard--my sleep schedule was disrupted. BUT I didn't gain any weight, so that's good. I've cut out the bad snacks (too many nuts and crunchy peanut butter with rapeseed oil/vegetable oil), and now I just have one protein drink a day as a snack. I was drinking 4 and that was too much protein; though my sugar didn't go up, my weight wasn't going down. NOW I'm finally back to 2 meals a day, 1 protein shake (chocolate core power 26g), and the sleep schedule is slowly improving. I'm sure I'll start losing again. My numbers have been 85-115, but I'm sure that will go down with better habits and more lost weight. Now that it's finally getting cooler, I'll start walking at night.

@@joeflowers9084 A fasting blood glucose 85-115 is good especially considering where you were. Glad to see you are on your way. Remember that fasting does not have to be more than 24 hours. Regular 14-16 hour daily fasts with no more than 3 meals per day (a snack = a meal) is generally healthy and doable for most people. Even if I only have heavy cream in my coffee, I count it as a meal. At least for now I need to be that strict with myself. Sleep is important. I am so glad it is improving for you!

Reducing carb alone wont work. You have to do intermittent fasting swinging between 16/8 and 20/4, eating 2 big meals with less carb and more fat and protein. Make sure there is not snaking between the meals.

I feel pre diabetes type 2 symptoms during lockdown. I accidentally watched his video on KZbin, I gradually try a long hours fasting, I immediately see the result: lost weight and pee less during night.
