One thing that might make his electric kit playing sound cleaner is he set the threshold of each drum to a very low setting, meaning you barely have to hit each drum to make it sound like you smacked the shit out of it. With that, he can play fast and soft, maintaining more control, while still sounding like he's playing hard. I'm not saying he doesn't clean up his tracks on an electric kit, I honestly have no clue. But I think he's at least also using this threshold trick.

Yes. This is the whole argument some drummers have against triggers. Sort of like corking a baseball bat.
@ShapeShifterPB Жыл бұрын
Very common practice especially live. Every deathcore band I've seen this year had triggers on their bass drums at least, if not the whole kit. Most metalcore bands I've seen use them, exceptions being STRAY and Knocked Loose and Kingdom of Giants. But I don't mind it, it makes double bass sound better and cleaner (as seen in the video) imo if done right. The drummer is still hitting every note you hear (usually). I use a fully triggered acoustic drumset with rubber cymbals for recording. 1)because I don't want to bother my family, newborn child in the house 2)I have my settings set perfectly, it sounds like an acoustic set tuned really well in a soundproofed room made for recording drums.you can hear mic bleed and all that shit. I don't have the $$ to build a room to record drums in. 3) it's soo goddamn fun to play. I've never had more fun playing drums than with my current setup. You'd be surprised how many of your favorite modern metal studio albums are done on edrums and superior 3.

I'm surprised you found any foot videos given that his entire "shtick" is that he has insanely fast hands. His hand technique really does work too, not a lot of power in it though.
