Very thorough review and demonstration. Sadly, I can't find these in Australia yet.

Nice video on the mop! Looks like it's a pretty nice unit for everyday use.

would have considered if it took 18v

I'm actually surprised they didn't make this as an 18v as well, but it would seriously increase the weight of the product. This little 4V USB Lithium version is so light it could easily be used the elderly, those with mobility issues, etc. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Coming back for a second comment. I ended up buying this Ryobi mop and at the moment I'm debating returning it. I think it's got enough flaws mixed with its relatively high cost that I'd also recommend others to skip it until they revise. I'm not really sold on the vibrating head. I've found that the mop is a lot more difficult to move around while it's on, and so ultimately I leave it off 95%+ of the time. Which leaves me wondering why I spent $100 on a product I could have otherwise spent $20 for the same functionality (or add $15 for an LED headlamp to strap to the front). My second complaint is that the controls are really in a bad spot. My hand really wants to rest in the nook where the handle bends, which leaves my hand right on top of where the buttons are. I end up regularly hitting buttons when I don't mean to. And trying to keep my hand further back on the handle actually makes handling the mop much more difficult to handle since you have to keep a pretty strong grip on it (and it may leave your hand cramping or your wrist sore). I do really like the idea of the little batteries, and I also like that they can just be charged via any USB-C cord. However, at the same time, I wish the lineup of tools that used these batteries was better and justified getting the mop to work with the batteries. This is the area I think Ryobi will improve the most on in the coming months/years.

I completely understand that not all products are for everyone and I certainly would return it if I had the experience you did. For our usage we have not had any issues moving it across our tile or the hardwood floor while it is vibrating. I have asked members of my household and they all confirm the same, no issues. I believe you are having the issue, i'm wondering if it is height related or perhaps the flooring itself. We all find the controls comfortable, however that is very subjective and everyone is different with what they find comfortable. Hopefully Ryobi reads your comments and is able to address your specific issues in the future verion of this mop (because we all know they will eventually release another one.) We have had great success with the 4V USB Lithium line of products and, to date, they have all worked as expected. I do know they make a wet/dry stick vac which is 18v (Model PBLSV747K) which you might like more but it is way more expensive. In our household, we are all pleased w/the mop. My wife is a very picky user and will not freely give a thumbs-up for a product unless she truly appreciates it, in this case she does indeed like it. Thank you for the detailed update and hopefully it will help others make an informed decisions from another perspective.

@@TBKHomeworld Re: the vibration. I am 6' tall and have wood laminate throughout. I find that with the vibration off, the mop glides along the floor pretty easily. It basically feels like I'm using a heavier Swiffer. But once I turn the vibration on, it no longer wants to glide and rather feels like it's sticking to the floor - almost akin to how a shop vacuum might "stick" to carpet once its on. If you're not having a similar issue, then I have to wonder if my unit is simply defective. For the buttons, where they are currently basically renders half the handle unusable. It does have grip tape, but my hand pretty regularly ends up sliding forward on the handle regardless. Once my palm is covering the buttons, that's when the accidental presses happen. For a future revision, I believe it would probably work making the spray button a trigger and then moving the other two buttons away from underhand. Either way I appreciate your reviews. Ultimately, for the price I don't think this product was for me which is a shame because I feel like the potential is there.

Do the instructions say anything about the use of vinegar instead of their branded cleaning solution?
@TBKHomeworld22 күн бұрын
There is a 'Notice' section on page 6 that states "Use only RYOBI Hard Surface Cleaning formula. Do not use other chemicals as this may damage the internal parts of the unit and void your warranty." So according to their own documentation that would be a 'no' and if you want to ensure the warranty is still in-place then you might need to adhere to that (although KZbinrs like Louis Rossmann might disagree.) However, I can say that I have used tools like this (but not this one specifically) and put 'non-approved chemicals' in them before (vinegar is indeed a powerful and good cleaning agent) and after usage I immediately rinses it out and cycled full tanks of clean water through the sprayers. Failure to clean out the lines/tanks has resulted in issues with corrosion and failure of the tools, so long as I cleaned them properly after usage they have all worked fine. If you decide to do that then it is critical that you cycle clean water through it in order to clear out any vinegar because of the acidic nature of it. I find it funny they do not mention the need for distilled water, in the area of Texas I am in we have extremely hard water and it will leave lime and iron inside the lines within the first use, resulting in clogs, etc. The risk is yours to take, my opinion is to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable and you can afford in case it destroys the tool. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thank you very much for your video I am wondering which cleans better the unit that you showed which is the 4 V unit or they have a wet dry vacuum that is supposed to be able to clean linoleum and hard wood floors and things the vacuum cleaner is about $350 so it’s $250 more and it is more bulky and heavy I would love to know which one is a better cleaner for the hardwood floor I’ve been thinking of buying $350 vacuum cleaner for hardwood floors but I am wondering if the product that you just demonstrated would work better I know it would be better for someone who is weak to use because it would be much lighter anyways your video was extremely good and extremely helpful and I really appreciate it

The two really serve two different purposes, the vacuum sucks up larger dirt and debree while the mop is able to get the more fine particles, grease, some stains, etc. Also, you would need to be very careful with a shop vac and make sure you only use the ends with bristles on it. The hard plastic on standard shop vac will end up causing damage to the hardwood floor as you move it along the floor. If you are trying to just pick up dirt and debree then a vacuum is the best way to go as it will actually vacuum it up. The mop will get some of that stuff but not like a vacuum will; as the mop becomes full of stuff it won't be able to pick up anything more. Things like cat food, etc won't be able to be picked up at all with a mop but can easily be done with a vacuum. I would actually recommend getting the Ryobi Stick vac and then following up with the 4v mop. This way you have all of the lose stuff picked up with the vacuum and can then do the extra cleaning with the 4V mop. I have a video of the last version of the stick vac here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHSze4Kfg8uWmtk If you only have money for one, then start with a stick vac and then purchase the mop when you can. The 4V mop is doing a great job on our tile and our hardwood flooring. Plus, the provided cleaner did NOT leave any film on our hardwood flooring. Thank you for watching and leaving the positive feedback!

I don't need that thing but for some reason Ryobi tools attract me and make me think I need it.
@TBKHomeworld22 күн бұрын
We have been pleased with it so far and it has been used exclusively since we purchased it vs other mops. It is holding up well and the cleaner does a great job of not leaving a residue on our hardwood floors! However, I totally understand about not 'needing' it....we obviously didn't need it either but I was hoping it might help us out.... and so far it has.

I think a steam mop would work better.
@TBKHomeworld13 күн бұрын
A steam mop would indeed work better for most cleaning needs, however it is not possible w/this 4v USB Lithium battery to create enough energy to actually heat water enough to create steam. In order to do that efficiently you really need to get a plug-in unit (which I have) that actually products steam and at a consistent rate. NOTE: I am not talking about the silly systems that just heat water to a high temp either, a true steamer is an amazing cleaner and I agree w/your recommendations on their abilities. IMHO a steam cleaner is a good deep clean tool, between uses of it this 4V mop fits in nicely IMHO.

I have heard that admitting you 'have a problem' is the first step in overcoming that problem. That is an interesting theory. Anyway, I will continue to buy and doing my best to honestly review Ryobi tools, so please be sure to subscribe! :D

Nope. I still don't think it's worth a hundred bucks. And I love Ree-obi. The name they call themselves.

For some folks it isn't worth the entry price, which I totally understand. If you are still interested in it then you can always wait for it to show up at direct tools and purchase a refurb or factory blemished model.
