Man I’ve seen some of those $5 chairs in a tiny zipper bag ..that extend in all directions to make a chair frame then add the cover. The people say they are secure and comfy. Way less money too. I’d pass on this thing. I wanna sit down not lean with anxiety 😂

We bought the telescoping one you compared it to a while ago. My son vends at several conventions during the summer and not every convention provides chairs, so it's handy when he needs extra seating or a small table at his booth and folds down compact enough to not take up a lot of space in his gear.

Did you buy the patented original (Have A Seat® - My Stool) or the chinese copy? I first got a fake one (i didn’t know that thing was a German invention), and after a summer’s use it was quite shaky. Got the original later, and it’s SO much sturdier. It’s around 10 bucks more, but it comes with a pillow (that’s what the holes are for)

I have the disc one you showed and it is perfect for waiting in lines. I store it in a backpack with my water and snacks. I find it a touch heavy for long hikes but decent for short hikes, shopping for clothes with a friend (most places removed their waiting chairs during the pandemic and have no intention of putting them back), concerts and parades. That leaning stick is not a chair. You should return it with a paper that says “This is NOT a chair”😂

@@serendipity6277 good to hear your seat holds up 🙂👍 i personally bought the original after learning that it was patented, but my first seat (got it from Amazon, too) did break. Luckily nobody was hurt. It baffles me that Amazon is selling knockoffs, even if the German company isn’t enforcing their patent, they try to point out the pros of their products… but you can’t buy the original if you don’t know it exists, can you? As someone with mobility issues, the idea of a lean-on stool that I don't have to get up and down from, piques my interest for sure - but no, not one with only a single leg! The inherent instability is such that all I can see is it slipping, and me falling, in a way that just *screams* serious injury, too - it's the stuff of nightmares, and I'm not even joking! ::shudders:: So that'll be one giant NOPE and a "not even if you paid me, thanks!" for this so-called chair, but your diligence in testing such items so that we don't need to, is really more appreciated than you could know - so thanks again so much my friend, for all the time and hard work you put into your videos! :)

I prefer the Fold and Go Sidekick Seat. It’s made by Fold and Go Wheelchairs. It’s great because it has a carabiner and can clip on belt loop or hand off back pack. It’s made for caretakers to be able to sit with the person in a wheelchair, but can be purchased by anyone on their website. We take ours when we go out and my wife has a place to sit whenever needed. I’m always sitting in my Fold and Go Wheelchair.

I usually agree with you and this is no exception--while you were opening up and discussing the "chair" I was thinking, "that telescoping stool thing would be a lot better," and out you came with it!🤣🤣🤣 I used to go to shows at SRO venues (like House of Blues) and to get in/try to be at the front you'd need to be there 4+hours early--and you'd be in one spot the whole time! For that I'd definitely want the stool! I can see where the little NOT "chair" might seem like a good option at a Disney-type line, but I'm older and SUPER clumsy... I'd probably die!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

First, I doubt most festivals, stadiums, or amphitheaters would allow this inside since it could become a weapon. Second, (not attacking you personally) but you look silly and uncomfortable leaning on it. And third, if you use this in a crowded area, you are vulnerable to someone either accidentally or intentionally kicking it out from under you.

I've had one for years which I've used at music festivals where I'm standing or walking for most of the day. Although the leaning seat is a compromise, it does allow you to still enjoy enjoying music acts as you can still see what's going on. Mine has never collapsed on me as I always made sure it was securely locked in place but I have had it kicked over many a time by drunk people walking past it in very crowded areas which is very annoying.

I love your channel very much. I am an autistic woman who loves watching reviews and diy videos. I just love watching people do things and learning how stuff works. There are very cheap useless products that are a waste of time and life. Fast production and fashion is hurting the planet because it's being dumped on the ground and ends up in the ocean. I used to free dive and it's polluted the deeper and farther out you travel into the ocean it gets worse. Most people don't get to see it because they don't have the opportunity to travel out there. I watched the coral reefs slowly die and become smaller. I haven't been out there in awhile but I know for a fact it's gotten worse. I cried for the loss because I made friends with the animals and the ocean. It was my home away from home. I am very comfortable under the water the deeper I dive the less stress and anxiety I feel. The ocean gets heavy when you dive down to 25 meters and after that it gets heavier as well. I used to go to 32 meters on one breath of air for 25 minutes. It took lots of practice to learn how to hold my breath and handle the pressure. I can see under the salty water too my eyes are capable of adjusting to it. I found out some of my family members have the same abilities. I believe it's genetic and if we don't practice the ability it can go away. Most of the time it's the younger people who have the ability and as they get older it slowly goes away. I am different so I haven't lost any of my abilities. I believe my autism is partly responsible. 😊

I feel like it's only really of any use if you're in a long line or something, since it's quick to set up and easy to move it around at a moment's notice and it doesn't take up much space at all. But aside from that very specific use case, you're better off just getting any number of other portable chair things.

I've got one of these with the add-on cover / sling. I've brought it to Disney parks (both at Disneyland and Disney World) to take a bit of pressure off waiting in lines or waiting for a show at the end of the day where there's no other seating handy. Your review is pretty much my experience. It's certainly not as comfortable as a full-on seat. However, it's very tight and compact. And it's FAR better than nothing. Or sitting on concrete. So I continue to bring it ready to break out when those rare situations arise.

If you mean that oversized-foot shaped thing that has suction cups on the bottom, and has brushes like a broom, and you stick your foot in and out and it scrubs it all around--I've used it and I liked it. You have to use it in a shower stall that has a flat, smooth floor, though. It doesn't work well in a bathtub/shower combo--although you can manage. One place that I was living in had a nice big shower stall, but the floor was textured, so it didn't stick and was useless. You can determine how soft or vigorous the scrubbing is by speed and pressure. It felt good and invigorating; could easily clean hard-to-reach spots. But I agree -- I'd like to see a review of that, too.

Hi James, I think that had they called this the lean pack it would have made more sense. Given the cost and what you get I would give this one a miss. I am sure there is better out there. Still I very much enjoyed this review. Very well done.

I bought a cheap backpack with a built in mini folding stool for refereeing soccer. Best purchase I have made in a long time. The mini stool was surprisingly comfortable as it was foam padded and had a thick textile cover that has survived more than 5 years of heavy abuse with rocks, gravel, rain, etc. I would not take it long distance though, as the metal frame sits on your back with minimal padding, so walking more than a mile or two round trip would get uncomfortable real fast. But it's great for just going a short distance to a soccer field and carrying everything in a single small backpack. Your disc stool seems much better for backpacking or hiking.

This is a very fair review. You went all out to try to make this thing work.

I remember back in the late 70s my dad bought a similar one. When n not in use it could be used as a walking cane. When you flip up the sitting part it's wider and had a square area making it comfortable if you did have a boney butt. When you are done you flip the seat back down till the two clasps hold it in place. But you can't shrink the leg down like this one.

I'm sure I saw that on Big Bang Theory. Raj had one, and the other guys made fun of him. As for that other stool, I have that and it's great!

If someone tried to extend this thing in front of me in a long line at an amusement park I’d be pretty annoyed. It looks cumbersome to set up and there are plenty of places to sit/lean without being in anyone’s way.

Someone I knew had walking stick with a spreading handle to sit on. This was pre internet days. I probably haven't seen a similar product like that. I like the stool better than the stick. But the stick can be improved with a better flat seat. I think they are giving more importance to the design than the function.

The only potential benefit I can discern with that (I would refer to it as a perching stool) is that it could potentially be utilized as a support or crutch in the unfortunate event of an accident in a rocky desert environment where there is a scarcity of wood to construct a suitable support. However, I must concur that the other collapsible stool is superior.

Have you ever reviewed or tested bottle or jar openers for older people who can't grip them very well? Electric or manual?

When I was in a walking group, I had a folding foam pad. Could have been a little thicker, but great for sitting on rocks or just wet grass and making it a bit nicer.
