Is the 2023 Camaro SS 1LE a better performance car than a 2024 Mustang GT?

I may be a Mustang fan through and through, but it'll be a sad day when the Camaro ends production. It's a superb car and has kept Mustang on its toes. And this colour! Wow! Love it!

Just bought one. Just a "simple" 1SS. Glad I did. Had a 70 Nova SS. Then a 72 Vette. Then a nice 2nd gen camaro (getting older and more responsible just had a 350 I think) then the Army and life happened. After time flew bought one of these Dinosaurs 🦕. Glad I did. If I went back to 1971 with this I could have been "cooler" than what I already was. I certainly would have blown the doors off of a certain red Boss 429 Mustang. Oh well. My new baby certainly scoots (I did learn a couple of "night moves" in the back seat of my Nova though).

I really don't want to see the Camaro go, this car has been my first ever dream car since I was a kid. But luckily, I was blessed to finally get my own 22' LT1 Camaro just 2 weeks ago 😎 I just hope that GM has something in it's sleeves with the Camaro 🤞🏼 if not then i'll always be glad that I owned a Camaro before it's gone 💯🙏🏼

Normally I find orange and black off putting, cause all I can think about when seeing an orang and black car is Halloween, but this Camaro has managed to pull off the orange and black look with class. I'd happily drive that thing year round and not just October.

Traded in my 21 ss for a 2023 2ss 1le. Wow what a difference! I absolutely love this car and how it handles. Visibility isn’t the best it it has blind spot detection and a rear view mirror camera so it’s not bad. It was very hard to get one. I optioned for the data recorder, can’t wait to go to the track!

I just traded in a Mustang GT for a Charger Scat Pack. For me, it was the best decision I ever made. The Charger's wheels chirp without hardly trying. Camaros are the worse due to the limited visibility. The Mustang GT had a plastic oil pan and drain plug. And that always bugged me to no end.

I have a 2021 ss 1LE, I love the car, I have ported heads, bigger cam and an aftermarket exhaust. Pushed the power to about 520 wheel horsepower and its about the perfect setup. Still handles amazing and the extra power is just right

I absolutely love my 2017 2SS. I originally wanted to find a 1LE, but they are often $5-10K over MSRP. Got myself a good deal on a very low mileage 2017 SS. Traded in my Charger Daytona 392 for it and haven't looked back. There is just something about having a 6-speed car that others can't scratch.

I'm a ford guy but when they made the front of mustangs look like a 2014 ford fusion I can't buy one. Camaro has the best looks and sound imo. Camaro and corvette seam to hold a better value as well and look like a man's car. Hard to admit that being a ford guy.

an extremely attractive and potent proposition, the Camaro, while not the newest kid on the block still is highly competitive, the platform of its is excellent. and the engine, we do not even need to discuss that. the pressure is on Chevrolet to follow this up, it will be very interesting to see what they do for a successor possible 7th generation Camaro.

Camaro 100%. For everyone asking why. The Camaro didn't need extra HP and that is why it never really got it in this generation. It has the superior chassis. This 1LE runs with the Mach 1 that does have more power. I even noticed in the S650 Mustang that Ford has given the GT Performance Pack the same size tires as the S550. I'm calling it now the 6th gen 1LE will be a better drivers car and run just as fast lap times even with the extra power and new chassis is the Mustang. Camaro will still be the better sports car for the money.

I bought a 22 Camaro SS 1le earlier this year. Best decision ever, but this car is not for everyone. Limited room, not made for tall people. Big doors, need to find a big spacious parking lot. Expensive tires that won’t give you much life. But what do you get in return? Smiles every time you drive this beast.

Hi Joe, Anthony here from Colorado I've owned two Camaros the first one was 2021 2ss in Shadow grey metallic, but I sold that and my second car was a 2022 2ss in Wild Cherry tent coat,, so I sold it and ordered a ZL1 but GM didn't pick it up, the order got into late. So therefore I was looking for a brand new 2024 Camaro 2ss,, and I got very lucky I found one and bought it,, and I'm planning not to get rid of this one and the color is vivid orange metallic and it's a very sharp looking car I am very pleased with it thank you Joe

It’s not actually smaller, we have a 16 mustang and a 2022 camaro. The spare car cover for the mustang fits tight, but still fits. Even the mirror pockets fit.

Tell you what I think Joe... I agree with your assessment and color preferences too. That orange is beautiful IMO. I seem to remember that you had a cherry Tint coat ZL1, I went with the SS1-1LE but also in the cherry Tint coat color. It's hard to park it and walk in to work man, I keep wanting to turn around and admire it!!

There's plenty of Camaros out there, certainly much more used than new but trying to find a purist SS with/without Manual/Sunroof/1LE can be real challenging. There's good deals out there if you're okay with a 1SS and not the 2SS (better base-optioned than the 1SS) but can save you around 3-5K USD sometimes. I've seen a pair of

Not gonna lie, I'm a true blue Ford fan but I do like this Camaro SS 1LE. I've always liked the exterior styling and the sound track it plays. The interior visibility makes it not so great for a daily in traffic but I could totally have one of these next to a new Dark Horse. I think Chebie would be making a mistake to kill off this ICE powered V8 Muscle Car.

Not sure how much longer they can milk this platform without a significant change. It’s not a bad chassis, but they do have competition domestic and foreign and some of those cars are better daily drivers than this. It’s sales are plummeting because GM is allowing it. They’ve been slowly killing this thing since that botched facelift that resulted in an emergency refresh a few years ago.

Joe, I own a 2021 SS 1LE with a 6 speed. It is a great car and handles better than 90% of the other cars on the road. I only have 2100 miles, so I may need to drive it more often.
