Glock doesn't have a long track record of being ass. There's things about a Glock that are ass, but if you're a good shooter it doesn't matter. Springfields have been functionally and reliably ass for years. Glocks don't have problems with broken firing pins, springs, and cracked frames. Use your brain.
@bdkj3e8 ай бұрын
@@kayshell66I've literally never heard about them having an issue with frames cracking, I did a search and could only find about 4 cases and exactly one picture on Google images, I did the same for Glock and found dozens. But I also saw Walther, CZ, H&K, and others. They're all plastic guns, molding plastic is hard and some of them are going to crack no matter what, as long as they warranty it properly.
@kayshell668 ай бұрын
@@bdkj3e You should actually click the links to see why they cracked so you can add context to your reasoning. Frames should NEVER (not sometimes) crack under normal use or mild bumps. The broken firing pins and broken springs that I also mentioned are the most dangerous catastrophic failures that XDM’s in particular have suffered from. Combine that with Springfields philosophy as a company and it’s an easy “don’t buy”.

So many people (me included) are going to be turned off by the fact that the gun will require a new holster or set of holsters, while essentially being the same as my Glock. Take a look at the PSA DAGGER. It’s a Glock clone, with upgrades (stippling, slide cuts, RMR cut) and it fits in Glock holsters AND takes Glock mags. @SpyderWebbX8 ай бұрын
I shoot M&Ps pretty well and have shot the Echelon close to 2K rounds. The Echelon has a short trigger reset, straight trigger, fun to shoot fast. Trigger pull is little bit lighter than a Glock. The thumb ledge actually helps. If you are used to 1911s and M&Ps, one thing you’ll have to remember is to bend your wrist down from the draw when aiming and finding the dot because it has the same Glock grip angle. If you’re used to the Glock grip, then it’s exactly the same for you. I hope Springfield will come out with a grip module with 1911 grip angle. Also, on reloading, usually the slide closes automatically. I usually don’t like that because I have an M&P bodyguard that does that also and sometimes the slide automatically slams shut during a reload but it didn’t actually picked up and load a round in the chamber. On the Echelon, it never failed to load a round in the chamber when slide auto-releases. It doesn’t matter if you only have 1, 3 round or a full mag, if the slide closes on reload, it always picked up a round and chambered it in my experience.
@penilescab8 ай бұрын

Twenty four years ago I was issued (for the first time) a Glock 17 to replace my S&W 4506. This happened a few months after becoming a rookie patrol officer. The 4506 was accurate and very durable. It also felt like a boat anchor in the holster because it weighed over 3 lbs with a full magazine. The 22-23 oz Glock 17 was a very welcomed change for me. A sidearm like this Echelon would have been great too. Pistols have evolved greatly since the late 90's. Six years from retirement and the only thing that has changed is a bump up to a gen5. My advice would be carry what you know and shoot well. The same could be said for home defense weapons. Don't let other people tell you what they think you should buy. There are lots of tacti-cool boys, showing off super cool and ultra fast reloads, and really fast shooting of stationary paper targets on ranges they have memorized. It looks cool for the camera and that is pretty much the extent.

While the CZ p10 did not kill the Glock, it should have. Unless they absolutely want a Glock, i would recommend the p10 over the Glock to any new shooter. And the Echelon is the same deal. It's better than a stock Glock. Unless you want to customize your Glock because you know what you are doing, or getting a straight up custom Glock like a Shadow Systems gun, why buy one? The Glock was innovative. Was. Now they need to be bullied into innovating again or slowly die out. For the customers sake.

Nothing needs changing on a Glock. LEARN TO SHOOT. The aftermarket world is comprised of 90% gimmicks sold to dumb people who don't know any better. Investing in bolt on bullshit is cheaper and faster than investing in training and practice. Lazy people complain about Glocks.

I took one look at the Echelon and assumed that there would be no holster compatibility with Glock. Interesting review. A bit surprised you weren't a little more informed on it than you represented in the video. Springfield has had a smaller and a larger grip module available since the Echelon's release. TFB TV and Honest Outlaw have done torture test reviews of it and it has come through outstandingly in both reviews. You can say it's a gen 3 glock clone all you want, and while that may be true for SOME of the internals, it doesnt compare elsewise. I have never owned a glock and most likely never will, but just most of what I have heard about glocks is "the factory trigger and the factory sights suck. So after you buy it you then have to fork out more money on a trigger and sights. Doing dry fire presses on glocks at the gun store compared to the Echelon, the Echelon's trigger to me feels better, one I could live with. I am biased because I am left handed and having ambi controls out of the box is something that glock cant seem to even imagine, yet others have been doing for years. If you dont like the ambi mag release, Apex Tactical has already made a replacement single sided one and as someone else already stated will most likely be making a trigger for it in the near future, IF the popularity continues to grow as you stated about making holsters for it.

I think the big appeal of the modular handguns is for people who can't necessarily afford buying multiple guns each with their own expensive reddot, but one gun with one reddot that you can pick weather you want a full size or compact on your hip that day is much less expensive and more reasonable.

That optic mount idea is awesome. Similar to shadow systems but with recoil lugs. Nice. Also, they missed a massive opportunity by not fitting Glock holsters. If you’re patterning off Gen 3, why not access the huge market of people looking for something new that holsters ready?

Some states require you to do a lot of bureaucratic paperwork just to buy a new a firearm, regardless if you have license or owned previous firearms. These modular pistols work great for states like New Jersey where some people just buy one firearm but form factor can be changed without additional paperwork. Also, some states require you to specify what firearm you own is tied in with your CCW permit, thus you can only carry that specific firearm on you when outside.
