Is the Shelby GT500 BETTER than a Chevy C7 ZR1..?

Ladies and gentlemen. Today, I am excited to do this comparison between a C7 ZR1 and a Shelby GT500 Mustang. Which one would you choose?

Both are incredible. I bought the Gt500 because it felt more roomy and so I would have some extra money to upgrade the supercharger and headers and get past 1,000whp. A low mileage ZR1 was almost twice the price of a low mileage GT500.

gt500 CFTP is beautiful and fast but a ZR1 is a monster. i saw both of these cars priced insanely.

Well that looked like a lot of fun! I had fun watching from home. Seems like a really cool guy and has some awesome toys. The car sounds really good, and I like the instrumentation, seats, and aero. Yes, I would take the ZR1 over the Mustang, but I have never had a Ford. This looks like a heck of an option whether money is or isn’t a factor. It would definitely be fun to drive, and would likely surprise some who aren’t educated on this beast. I just subscribed to Asfar’s channel. Thanks for the fun video, Mike!

I’ll take the ZR1 especially the 2019, with no hesitation. The Mustang GT 500 is a beautiful car in its own right! Both IMO are in categories of their own. For my own comparison, I currently have a 2009 Mustang GT and a 2009 C6 Z51 Corvette. Year by year I believe the Corvette is above the Mustang. The Corvette is a Corvette, I think over the years it has not been accepted as a “Muscle Car” or as a “Pony Car”.

I may be in the minority , but I like the GT better in all aspects , and I’m a huge vette fan ( and owner ) . I honestly have never been a fan of the huge wing in the ZR1 , and the low wing doesn’t look like it fits

Yeah, this GT500 was definitely an amazing car. I do love the big ZTK wing, but I agree that the low wing does not look like it fits at all.

Beauty is as beauty does. I have a C7 ZR1 with the ZTK option and therefore it has the high wing. That said, it's not about appearance, but rather function. In this case that's ~950 lbs of downforce at track speeds. That, along with the PS Cup2 tires and suspension tuning, it's a world class car on a road course. And if that isn't enough the 755 BHP will make you :D

Transmission in the gt500 is actually better than what’s in the c8 z06. Has been confirmed by a few honest reviewers that have driven the gt500.

Oh yeah, by a long shot. I’d rather have the manual 7 speed in the Z06 but not the 8 speed auto.

Holy Guacamole! He's got a Carbon 65 which is one of my all-time favorites. He knows how to ride! 😉👍 I love his whole collection! Also, I'm with you as to the ZR1 is the one I'd want, but . . . . . if I had the wherewithal, I'd want both of them and I tend to think I might have just a tad bit more fun in the GT500. The competition to Fords Mustang in any variant is Camaro, and GMs Alpha chassis 2 won that battle easily. The GT500 enters the arena with the ZL1 series 100hp up on the Camaro, but can barely win that battle on track where you can actually ONLY test such powerful cars. Ford won the sales war, but GM won the performance war with their chassis on ALL variants. A GT500 track pack barely beat a C8 stingray with close to 250hp more at V.I.R. There is no MUSTANG vs CORVETTE rivalry, and Ford never made a Corvette competitor. MULTIMATIC made the Ford GT for Ford, but that car was 400k and completely carbon fiber. You can ALWAYS ADD HORSEPOWER, but the chassis is the key to any car.

And I would have to do a set of stage 2 or stage 3 cams. To have that real lumpy idle. And then I would top it off with Flowmaster 40 series and H pipes. Give it more of an 80s Fox body sound

Just got my order accepted for the gt500. I’m trading my zo6 in for the gt500.For the price without markups I think the gt500 is better in the market now because i cant find any Zr1’s for under 150k.It depends on what your doing with the car . The gt500 is no slouch on the track but the Zr1 is 👑 on the track .The corvette does feel a little bit more special IMO but the gt500 looks very aggressive. I love the DCT in the mustang as well my zo6 8 speed is very sluggish.
