so I appreciate that I'm a very unusual use case and so not interesting from amarketing standpoint, but I'm going to say it anyway. I am a completely blind guitar player. I can actually use all the UAD amp sims because they are (mostly) accesible to me on Windows with my screen reader. Line6 has never cared about accesibility despite repeated attempts at contact from well known blind guitar players and engineers. We have always been given the brush off. So of course I will buy these, because I can actually use them and the company clearly gives a damn. And I'm on a blind guitarists list with 100 other blind guitar players whom I will tell about how good they are.

@ those are both so good. I’m a big fan of the HX Edit, but it’s £400 (unless you own a Helix floor unit). £39 per UAD amp is a no brainer when the presets are this good and the user experience is instant. DAW (Logic, Cubase etc) cover modulation, reverb and delay etc.

The Helix Native / Helix Hardware combo is the bomb. The mere fact you can record dry, fine tune guitar sounds on studio versions and then upload on Helix/HX for live with zero hassle is 50% of the reasons I'll never go back to Fractal (the remaining 50% being affordability of buying a spare and/or literal availability down the street in case of HW failure).

While I absolutely love the pedals and own the Enigmatic, I would never pay the old price for the plugins and HELIX Native is a much better choice for value. Also, live playing is one thing and UA is king on that because of the feel of the UA Pedals, but when we talk about recording with headphones it's a much different story. Helix Native is great at it and as the feel is a much smaller factor, the amount of stuff Helix provides is a win-win. On the other hand, after the price changes, UA becomes, once again, the King (in price) in quality, accessibility, design and even feel, even though it's not as important in the studio with Headphones. Cheers

As a Helix Native user, while I love the options, there are almost too many, and simplicity might be better for me. I have resorted to using presets by people like yourself, Rhett Shull, and Michael Britt, because at times I have no idea what I am listening to anymore . Would probably be happier with 2 or 3 decent amps for my Les Paul, Tele, and JTV59. It can be a bit bewildering tbh. You buy a real amp and you plug in and you tend to know quickly what a good sound is. Struggling at times mentally with the Helix Native even though I have used it for years.....

They're not identical, but I don't think they're any more different than two of the same "real" amps are. That's my general opinion of the current digital landscape, everything is close enough now that it comes down to personal preferences both in sound and usability. Debating who does it best now is like arguing what specific year was the best deluxe reverb.

The silver cab, at 12:13, is the Vox sound, the other cabs sound good too, Some of the brightness is toned down in a vox amp. with the use of greenback celection vs. the alnico/silver Blues, this is one I know because I own a 93 Vox ac3o Marshall built amp. with greenbacks, they cut out some of the Harshness, brightness by there very design. So the sample played at 11:30 is the base sound of MY Korg era amp. If I had silvers or blue alnicos it would be the other sample, Mine is what we used to Call a PUNCHY sound.

I have the Ruby plugin as part of the UA subscription, but I also own the hardware version. It's my "go to", but I run pedals in front of the Ruby when recording, so that rules out using the plug-in. Still nice to have. I also owned the Helix at one time, but got rid of it. I just never cared for the sound of the models. I mean it's a great, flexible unit, but I find the tones lacking for me.

Ruby sounds more like a real amp. Helix could be made to sound more like it, but there’s still something missing. Helix obviously has more options, but the amp like simplicity of Ruby is desirable as well as the sound. I’m a longtime and loyal Helix owner, but this plug sounds so good, may have to go for it. I’m assuming the other two sound just as good? UA plug-ins always sound the best to me; but I’ve only used their studio equipment plugs.

I think it's hard to compare the two, because I feel they have two completely different use cases. Even if you can get them to sound alike, if all you need is a great amp emulation the UA is the way to go. Why bother with the plethora of options native gives you and that might slow down your workflow? On the flipside, if you need a full guitar rig on your DAW, stacking plug ins for amps, effects and everything else it's going to eventually slow down your session when multitracking; in that case an everything in one plug in makes sense and Native is king as far as options and even sounds compared to it's competition. If UA one day makes a plug in incuding all their amp in a box pedals, plus their fx ones which also sound amazing, then that would be a whole different story: the vast and growing but at times dated Native or the more limited yet high end UA library? I kind of hope they try their hand at that.

The big selling point here is that you don‘t need to search through 1000 Presets. You want an AC30 and you get the best sounding one. I‘m actually more worried about the older Amp Sims from UAD - they don‘t sound as good but some cost more. Also: why didn‘t UAD release this vor the Apollo platform?

You can get close with the helix, but you have to tweak a lot, and i think that is the problem with line 6. You must to have some knowledge and experience with the unit and you need another effects (as multiple eq, compression etc) when you want good amp tones, closed to others devices. And i think it s better to have something more plug n play, and i hope line 6 to release some new updates with new versions on the old amps, or better a new gen unit 😁
