This movie is the Force Awakens of the Alien Franchise. People will love it because it hits all those familiar beats and aesthetics of the original movies. "It's inoffensive and not terrible." actually people should be accepting of this standard as a baseline. An overabundance of entertainment means you'll have more middling products than high quality stuff. That is reality. Most entertainment is middling and then you'll get a couple of higher quality products and even fewer masterpieces. If everything is "high quality" then the goalpost simply moves. The problem is that the woke is straight garbage. Its in the negatives. It can never start at zero and will never go beyond it. That is not the standard to accept. the movie industry is ruined not because of mediocrity. Its ruined by complete trash feminist woke writers making trash agenda driven films. That isn't mediocre. That is just trash. The standard is not starting at 5/10 which is middling (inoffensive and not terrible). It is starting at -5/10

A huge missed opportunity in the end scene would be to make the new alien a xenomorph-ish body with a human-ish mind rather than the typical human-like monster with animalistic mind. And then they could go towards the company headquarters as intended, but the plot twist would be that the new xenomorph is unknowingly to the company protective of the crew. A huge missed opportunity for a cool plot twist. ... OVERALL: Originality: 2/10 - a combo between alien - isolation, and alien 1. Characters: 6/10 - the main ones arent that good, but the others arent terrible Plot: 2/10 - very basic, but not out of the ordinary in this franchise. People are lured in, and they want to run away. There, I´ve just spoiled almost each and every movie in the entire franchise to you in mere 10 words. Action: 10/10 - ideas like the zero gravity acid dodging and action with the new combo between the pulse rifle and smart rifle are really good. Political commentary: 8/10 - brought to a minimum, yeah the main characters are a female and a black android, but that´s perfectly acceptable as long as the rest are not comically villainous or dumb. A rare spectacle in this day and age. Internal logic and consistency: 5/10 - most things are fine, some don´t make much sense (like the placement of the facehugger-growing pods, or the general lack of airtight doors, or the aliens not "seeing" human pheromones even though they should) MY RATING: 75% - not a huge spectacle, but certainly a breath of fresh air after the subpar Ridley movies

Things that are beyond our ability to understand. Over showing the Aliens and over explaining them has killed any sense of danger or mystery, especially after the garbage AVP films. Now there is nothing new or interesting or unique about the series. After Aliens it's just been a constant dumpster fire. Now a 10th film might be ok. Who cares. It's damaged goods. Think you didn't watch the movie properly, they removed the battery of the cryosleep for the face huger that they didn't know was even kept in there, and they were looking for the battery actually. The face huger detected hit they thought, not the alien, the team actually was more clever and solid than the Nostromo, and the attack on a cat was less solid than the attack on the droid left by the protagonist's father, maybe not solid as Replay and Newt, but stronger than Replay and Johns. In Alien Covenant the alien grows up in less than 3 minutes. Also found a young actress today who can match Sigourney Weaver. Actually, there were many few ideas of how they could come up with xenozip, and create a better background for goes into alien genocide, if they keep the neomorph and xenomorph. There is a lack of seeing the franchise go in a direction that people would like, but the movie was actually more solid than all the Scott made, included the Alien 1.

What are you talking about Shad?! Spoilers: Sure, that doesn't work out so well in the end, but still, for 90% of the movie it's a thing 🤷♂.

The film is enjoyable, 7/10. I see too many comments unfairly jaded against it while it's definitely better than any other post-4 Alien movie and could be even better if not for the mediocre actors who just don't bring anything interesting into it(aside from Andy).

Frankly I walked out loving this. It’s a self contained Alien film that’s not trying to be heady like Prometheus, or an action film like Aliens(though I think Aliens is amazing). Also the cast not being obnoxious 20 something’s like I was dreading was so nice. I will say how they used gravity in this movie especially near the end was fun.
@royalecrafts62524 ай бұрын
If its a self contained movie it shouldnt tried to grab every aspect of old movies

No it wasn't self contained for the alien from the first film survived and somehow made it to the area where the main character of this film was.

17:00 they do that a lot recently. Walking dead destroyed the zombie virus incubation period, it can be 1 month or 1 second. I'm pretty sure vampires were ruined by supernatural. Ilithin dnd lore was obliterated in BG3. Some people in that ship turned that same day, while your crew takes however the fck you want. Yeah, it can be whatever they want now. It's annoying where you're 40 and remember that stuff from older movies. But I'm pretty sure kids today will see the new movie, and then the old one, and will consider the change a "quality of life" upgrade.

It's a propaganda movie, without propaganda. It don't have a soul either. So Andy was a better protagonist than the protagonist herself and they had to nerf him halfway through the movie. It would have been better if the update was experimental and gave Andy consciousness. Seeing that that's not what Wayland was going for, they would have tried to destroy him and then it would make sense for the protagonist to feel a connection to him and try to save him even at the cost of her own life. A bit cliché and a copy of I, Robot, but it would have been better.

it is really well made good movie, just i think the whole plot isn’t interesting i guess? fede make really good movies, but something isn’t just right in this… i think aliens kinda becomes side mission and not that scary after half way through even tho story wise aliens aren’t side mission…. i personally think they should have done something like alien 3. much darker and bleak atmosphere, and one very strong alien against bunch of ppl and make alien very menacing and these ppl alien is against are very competent ppl, but even they can’t handle type of story imo. i know ppl don’t like alien 3, but feel like ppl hate it for the wrong reasons imo.

There were some really great moments, some really dumb moments and somethings I think break canon. I was honestly kind of bored for 1/3 of it. The crew was lackluster, the aliens were underwhelming and the last alien was creepy but not scary. The acid blood was more of an issue than everything else. The overall story is good. The problem solving was good. The grossness and the visuals were great. For me a 6/10.

An alien movie doesn't need to be super creative. They just need to be fun. They tried to be creative with Prometheus and it just ended up being a bad movie and ruining the lore.

Shad, I don't know what you watched, but this was a travesty of a movie. Thousands of member berries does not a movie make. There was not one grown up character in this (makes sense as a Disney production, actually). Most characters died pretty much off screen. That shootout at the end with the acid just hanging there was so effen DUMB. And that second third act... Jesus effen wept! I swear, after the movie ended, and I tell you it's the first time ever I see a reaction like this (or pretty much any reaction) from a crowd here: people were sitting in their seats, just watching the credits roll. Shock, disbelief and utter disappointment was the mood in the cinema. Yes, this movie IS a travesty not only to the Alien franchise, but to movies as a whole.
