This bottle is a solid pour as is and gets better if you add a little water but I wouldn't buy again at $140. At $80, it's a buy all day. Hopefully they can expand and find a way to produce at a lower cost to bring the price down. I'll be interested in the next batch but won't get it at launch. Thanks a ton for your view and comment! Hey Dean! This one hurt me a little. I really wanted to like this and recommend it but couldn't do it. I even had another pour two days after recording to verify it and I got the same notes. It is an interesting philosophy for a Canadian whiskey distillery to have. When most are putting additives, I feel if Found North could get the price down it would be worth having on the shelf. Like you, I feel for that kind of money, I'll stick to actual bourbon not a product that is trying to mimic a bourbon. I have seen multiple channels saying good things about Found North products. I was unaware of the high price. I appreciate your review to help me get my mind right. (I do seriously enjoy the Alberta Premium though) D

Hey Dana! In a vacuum, it's a good solid whiskey but at $140+, just not worth it with so many other great options at almost half the price. And to boot, it's not that easy to find so some hunting has to be done. Hopefully prices will come down as they expand. That Alberta is one great bottle and I'll need to do a review on it somehow. Haven't tried batch 7 but do have batch 6 Second Summit. I think this finished batch is incredible and worth the price.

I have heard the Batch 6 second summit is a good one and unfortunately, a bottle I did not have the opportunity to get. I have been having the batch 7 more recently with a drop of water as instructed on the bottle and its better. Still not sure I would spend $130 on it again though. Maybe I'll grow to love it in time! I went back to the found north batch 7 last night and had a simple of the batch 8. I guess it's just me but it's a good bottle but not as great as others seem to say. That is the beauty of whiskey as we can taste the same bottle and get two completely different notes and flavors 😆. Thanks a million for your view and comment! Truly appreciate it and cheers ~

Hey Jonathan! Calumet 16 is a good pour but I'm not sure it's worth the $140 as well. But it is more readily available than the found north and close to it's age statement. Stagg is something every bourbon lover needs to try. I would definitely try to search for a bar in your area with reasonable prices ($15 ish per 2 oz). For me, it is a good solid pour but hit me closer to like a $80 whiskey (which is great) instead of a $140 one. Found north batch 7 was considered the one of the best whiskeys ever tasted during a recent bottle share when I brought found north by several friends - but in fairness people felt that way after we followed the recommendation on the label to add a splash of water and letting it sit for 10 minutes. Drinking it neat had more of an ‘it’s good, not 150 good, but good’ vibe - and so I recommend trying batch 7 by following the label instructions!

Hey Sean! I have added water as recommended on the label and it is much better! But for the review videos, I try to stay consistent and judge it "as is" for comparison to other bottles. I am enjoying the found north and is actually really good with ice as well (the water down part plus the cold to make it feel more Canadian?? 🤣). @@TheBloody81 I saw it in my area and I had the opportunity to buy at $145 but I passed due to my experience with Batch 7. From what I hear, batch 8 is better. Also, it seems only I gave the batch 7 a "not worth the money" rating as every other review I see on KZbin seems to recommend it. 😂. I just had it after your comment and I still think it's a $80 bottle. Oh well. If you pick it up, let me know how you like it!

At $70 to $80, it's a buy but at $140+, it's just too expensive for me. As you saw with my old carter review, I'm not afraid to give buy rating on expensive bottles if they are exceptional but this was a good solid bottle, but not exceptional. That bottle design and what you hear some people say had me curious. But not curious enough to spend close to $200 on a bottle (from what I found it for). Now that you have helped by reviewing it, it is one that I will not be picking up. It’s hard to compare anything to Stagg and it hold up, so I figured that it was more than likely just a favorable palate thing for the guy you referenced at the outset of the video. I start laughing as soon as I saw the Mia Dolphins shirt! Sorry about the loss, but good to see some fun! Also, is that a 2XO behind the Murray Hill Club on the shelf behind you? Hey Vic! Nice catch! It is the 2XO American Oak bottle behind the murray hill club. Just FYI, the murray hill club is worth every cent of the $100 that it retails for. It is one superb bottle! Back to the found north, it's just all about the price point (and slightly about the allocation). It's a good solid whiskey but just not worth the $140+ price point. I understand due to the age, they need to price it to make money, but that also doesn't mean I have to buy it 😆. I'll wait for reviews on the next batch before I even consider buying it again. It's all about the price point on this bottle. I understand they have to price it high due to the age statement and the blends, but it just didn't hit me like a $140 whiskey. Closer to $80 for me.
