I think it's more the fact that we're in the second season so some of the contestants have probably watched the show before getting on it. The first season was recorded before the show premiere. Seems like they figured out that they can avoid the jets by lifting the board off the water.

@@ryanpenrod1859 Pretty sure that was because both players hit the 60-second time limit in the pool, which is "an automatic third place." So they didn't tie for 2nd, they both got 3rd. In events like the football-toss, if the players got 8, 6 and 6, that would be 300, 200, 200 (tied for 2nd). If they got 8, 8 and 6, that's 300, 300, 100 (tied for 1st). But in the timed events, 300, 100, 100 is possible because of the "auto-3rd" rule. Heck, it could even be 100, 100, 100 if everyone beefs it. And then any "disqualification" (like two false starts in the same event) would also be "automatic third place," regardless of how other results went. I never understand the guys' confusion, because it's how ties are always broken. If two players tie for 1st, the next player gets 3rd-place points. If two players tie for 2nd, they each get 2nd-place points (which means a theoretical fourth player would get 4th-place points, but that can't happen in Guts, so it never comes up). And if multiple players hit the time limit, they all tie for 3rd.

​@@RhombusObstacle It kinda has been their gimmick the entire time they been doing the game shows watch-alongs. They can never focus for two seconds and listen to the rules, and then later get all confused when stuff happens. They watched three episodes of Supermarket Sweep for example and still didn't realized that the sweaters the teams wore were their placement for entering in for the sweep. It doesn't surprise me that they can't remember how the scoring/placing works on Guts after watching 60 odd episodes.

I think the scoring when ties are involved is based on how many players did better. So if there's 2 contestants in 1st place, the other receives 3rd place points. Having one 1st place contestant and two 2nd place contestants would result in the tied players receiving 2nd place points. It made sense in my head.

As for why the times were off: We clearly went through some kind of wormhole and entered a time, however brief, where numbers, usually ironclast in definition and meaning, turned into philosophical points where a number may take on any value based on the merits of a myriad of factors that are only truly explained through complex, and honestly fundamentally unclear, psychotherapy babble. Hope that cleared it up for everyone.

I love the points setup for the season, the only thing I'd drop is the resets. It feels down right un-American to reward the poorest performing team with an advantage twice in-season. I'd go with a nine episode season with the same rules(plus possible power ups/downs).

I think for the 3rd round "call your shot" you should predict the order of the field, that way if there is a trade before the 3rd event there isn't confusion as to who gets what point. It makes it just a tiny, tiny bit harder, but bonus points are huge.
