This episode reminds me of The Rosenhan Experiment which was a study done by the psychologist David Rosenhan. He, along with 8 other people, got themselves admitted into various psychiatric hospital with bogus diagnosis', but acted perfectly normal after they were admitted. In every single case the medical staff concluded that the participants had the disorders they were initially diagnosed with and even wrote up extensive reports with observations of symptoms despite the participants specifically not showing any symptoms. The purpose of the study was to show the propensity of psychiatry to work backwards from a conclusion and force the facts to fit a pattern. Look it up. It’s quite interesting.
@MrFredsttАй бұрын
Wow. How did they get themselves released and publish their findings?
@CaptainLuckyLukeАй бұрын
As I recall they were only released once they agreed with everything the psychiatrists said. The psychiatric profession condemned the study. Rosenhan then did another study where he told a psychiatric hospital that he’d sent more fake patients there and invited the experts to spot them. The psychiatrists identified dozens of fake patients, and dozens more potentially fake patients, and gleefully informed Ronsenhan only for him to tell them he’d actually sent no one.

Also, knowing that her brother was the only one who believed her and went to see her every week for 10 YEARS, seeing her reaction when she sees her brother in the trunk hits so hard. i think his addiction was his way of dealing with the fact that he knew she was innocent and couldn't do anything about it.

What you said about a villain who is sane, who everyone believes is crazy. Sofia is NOT sane, not anymore. After ten years in the living hell that is Arkham, to survive monsters, she became one. It is ironic that she is now fit to be her father's heir, ruthless, and possessing a hatred for the entire world. Seeing that little happy skip as she made her way through her house and seeing all the bodies. it is clear she is not all there, thanks Carmine, you made a monster as dangerous as you. Pity the Maroni family and pity the Penguin if she gets her hands on him.

Regarding Carla, the darker spin on things is that she's a reflection of Sofia. Her father is Luca so she was probably told to write that affidavit and to suggest the trip to Italy with no way to refuse, lest Carmine or Luca get mad. We never see her have a hand in the Family "business" and we know they're misogynist. Just like Sofia was sidelined and screwed over by her family,. The sad thing is that she never had a chance- tried to survive and was on the wrong side. So I don't blame her at all, she was a victim of her family too. Also, while Sofia didn't kill the women that she was framed for, she did kill her family in a similar method- they weren't able to breathe.

Here is my end of the show theory... Vic is the only other person who knows where Penguin's mum is. I think Vic is going to emulate the penguin's snakeiness and save his own life from being killed by Sofia by giving up his mum, and Sofia will end up killing Penguin's mother as an eye for an eye for her brother. Then Penguin will find out the betrayl and end up killing Vic, and then defeating sofia by putting her in Arkham for her to suffer like he is. It'll be pure Shakespearean tragedy!

People who think Oz talked to Carmine because Sofia snapped at him haven't been paying attention. Oz clocked by how unlike herself Sofia was in snapping at him, when she trusted him enough to bring him to the reporter meet showed him the info was worth a lot. Oz did not know how far Carmine would go, but his decision was entirely calculated. If the guy he drove as a kid exists Sofia is the second person he's dimed out to the Falcone family. He definitely ratted out that the first guy was talking to the Feds. He glossed over how they knew when telling Vic that the guy died after talking to the Feds.

Penguin is impulsive. He makes the best out of the bad situations he ends up creating himself. Killing Alberto was impulsive because of how Alberto reacted when he was insulting Penguin about being treated with respect in their crime family circle. Without any idea of the consequences. Same thing happened when the Penguin stuffed the phone in Johnny's mouth. I think Sofia has finally figured out what Penguin's deal is. What he wants. And no way is she going to let him take over the family business now.

I thought the trigger warning was going to be for the one sided audio. And then even after the ACTUAL trigger warning, having accepted the one sided audio, I get jumpscared into having the audio on both sides, which should have been a secondary trigger warning.
@arm279145Ай бұрын
OK, so the trigger warnings weren’t about what I thought they were about. Which I guess says something about me and how I am apparently very comfortable with certain things and not with others. However, I did want to point out, that in the context of this show, and seeing how bad Arkham really is inside, Alfred‘s decision to not get Bruce the mental help he needed as a child makes so much more sense. Because if this is a potential that could happen to your ward, because for lack of a better phrase, the patients are running the hospital, then no, you absolutely do not, attempt to have someone you care for treated for anything to do with mental health in Gotham.
