I was only 14 when my sister's husband SA me. He was 26. I knew my sister wouldn't believe me, so I never told her. It ate me up inside, I blamed myself & thought I must have done something to make him think he could do that. I drank the pain away for years. When my daughter turned 14, it was then I realized it was never my fault. My sister & him are still together, 20 years later. He's told many lies & driven a wedge between her & I. I know he worries I might tell her, so he discredited me behind my back. I don't talk to my sister anymore & she lives 2 blocks away. I know she's still choose to believe him over me, even though she knows in her heart I'd never lie. I'm 45 & it still impacts me. Don't blame victims. We often already blame ourselves.

I am so glad you’ve come to terms with knowing it is absolutely not your fault. I’ve found myself in a somewhat similar situation and feel the need to tell you that you should let her know. Whatever she chooses to do is not a reflection of you or even your relationship. He is the one responsible and should be held accountable if you can find the strength to come forward. Wishing you all the peace and strength in the world ❤️‍🩹

I am really glad you came to terms with realizing this was NOT your fault! I was r’d by 2 men when I was 16 & held it in, never said anything to anyone until I was in therapy in my mid 40’s. I knew if I told my mom, she would have blamed me for what happened due to the circumstances. I always blamed myself for this happening until I was in therapy & realized it was NOT my fault. But to hold it in for so many years & never telling either of my husbands, I wish I had been in therapy a long time ago to realize it wasn’t my fault. It would have definitely changed my relationships with my husbands!

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. It was never your fault. I'm sorry that your sister isn't in your life anymore, especially when she doesn't know that this happened. It's all his fault. Whether you tell your sister about it or not, I hope that you take care of yourself and seek out therapy to work through your trauma if you have not already. I hope that you heal and gain peace and strength.

I told this news to my 17-year old sister who likes Cody’s videos. She didn’t really care, she said, whatever. Then I said, “imagine if a 25-year old man flirted with YOU!” then her eyes got wide. It’s SO true that kids are not emotionally and mentally mature enough to fully understand the gravity of these things. If an older guy likes you, it’s cool! Then you grow up and realize.

The thing that annoys me the most aswell is a lot of people will use the excuse of it was cool or the people around them supporting them will excuse it as they’re almost legal and know how to make choices etc or the victim isn’t reacting badly so why are you?!…. Most of the time the victim doesn’t realise they’re the victim until FAR later…. Years sometimes, and just because the victim has been groomed to not see the issue with it until they’re emotionally mature enough to realise the severity/grossness of these things, DOESNT MEAN the perpetrator is any less in the wrong for what they’ve done.

I have to say, the H3 podcast brought this up right after the live show clip started surfacing, a month before the D’Angelo Wallace video (which he does credit them for) completely denouncing Cody, who they previously had as a guest and respected. So props to them cause they certainly weren’t afraid to distance themselves and brought a lot of light to it. They also brought it up the last time Tana spoke about it but it just never gained traction back then.

The day I turned 20 and remembered him, and then it hit me all at once and I had a devastating breakdown. I was a child. I had H cup breasts, that was his excuse when I confronted him over it after I'd recouped myself. Wow, I had precocious puberty, that totally negates it ofc! /s It's the triangulation between women that's socialized into us, always needing to be better than other women, be more unique, be more desired. Put that together with the lack of foresight of a teenager and it's easy to see why they'd think it's cool to have an "older bf."

Because there are no details exactly when and where it happened. Remember, we only know the hook-up between Tana and Cody was a crime, because Gaby pointed the exact date and location of the crime. Based on these details we know Tana was 17y.o. and Cody was 25y.o., which makes it a statutory rape in the state where it happened.

@@stellasfarmlife2465 well, I don't think anyone feels that everyone has to automatically believe claims of sexual assault. I think that when a claim is made that makes sense people are now much more likely to believe the victim because we have a better understanding of how sexual assault happens. We now understand how common it is, how sneaky it can be, and how proof doesn't come in the form we expected. There isn't going to be a video of them having sex while she holds up her license and a newspaper with the date. Yes, some people lie about being a victim but that number is entirely *negligible* compared to the number of victims who are not believed and supported. A claim of assault never happens in a vacuum, there is always context. We had seen their collab videos where he is checking her out. We have seen Gabbie Hannah talk about warning her friend of someone being underaged. We have seen Tana be timid about sharing the truth by saying things like "I was 17 or 18". The context makes sense, the evidence makes sense. Statistically and morally, if I have no reason to doubt the victim, I prefer to defend the victim instead of a predator.

For years I always wondered why Drew and Danny hadn’t been making content with Cody like they used to. Now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure these allegations first surfaced around the same time. I wonder if they cut ties with him way back. And if this was the reason.

Yeah but I also think that Cody alone has a HUGE responsibility for this, for example when he was confronted by gabbie hanna that he was dating a underage girl he still hooked up with her afterwards, like he could’ve used his brain and change his mind knowing what he’s doing is illegal. and he especially also has big responsibility because he was 25!!! like not “young twenties” an actual ADULT. so I wouldn’t think it’s good to blame it all on his legal team even if they definitely have a big impact on the situation with censoring all information and stuff.

"People can be promiscuous but can also be a victim." This 100%. Even if she chose to dress "sexy" at 17, even if she might've wanted it, he should have said no. Change the ages of those circumstances and where do you draw the line? What if a 15 year old dressed sexy and wanted it, does that mean it's okay? What about 13? It's a slippery slope. While I personally don't have the best impression of Tana, on this I believe her and believe what Cody Ko did is wrong. He has a pattern. And now Tana is older, she has realized how predatory his behavior was and is. A lot of times when we are younger and our brains aren't fully formed, we don't see it the same way but once we mature, we realize a lot of things.
