Didn't look like you did the rear shackle hangars... trust me when I say that will be the cherry on top of this. Not even joking, I felt the difference even more than new leafs in my Tacoma. They're a day on their own to install (or at least it took me a whole day for mine) but they make SUCH a difference because you take out the deflection in those stock hangars and let the leaf spring do more of the work.

Agreed with working on your own vehicle. I put the OME suspension on my Colorado and the Clayton suspension on my wife’s Gladiator.

on that rocky climb part at 14:00, i believe the longer wheel base helped significantly for the tacoma.

Absolutely, that was a great climb for a longer vehicle.

Not going to lie, the shock shootout videos make me bias to the Bilstein 8112 zone control shocks, but this is so great to see people enjoying other brands of nice shocks. Someday...I will hopefully be able to finish my shock setup as all I got sitting on the shelf at the moment is the Accutune upper A-Arms waiting for a set of zone control shocks.

Sleeper build and no font lock? A true sleeper would be lockers and stock suspension 😂 Such a basic and effective build and I totally agree, everyone should work on building their own vehicle, then you have benifit of knowing how to fix what you break.

I get what you are saying… front locker is a huge upgrade… but this build was very much targeting higher speed desert, not rocks… always depends on the objectives

I am always surprised that the frame/undercarriage does not get cleaned up and painted when these upgrades are installed, I keep the underside of my vehicles looking as good as the top and I live in a very messy area with lots of mud and salt in the winter.
@OutdoorAuto
@OutdoorAuto Ай бұрын
Idaho is an incredibly dry environment and they don’t use salt… most the salt on that Tacoma happened in Ohio… we are lucky over in Idaho with minimal rust issues.

It’s a good company, I had an order that got messed up and I couldn’t believe how far they went to make it right and to even change their checkout process to make sure it could never happen again… I was super impressed

7:20 WHAT!!!???? No!! LMAO! You cut the center pin shorter!! Not drill into your bump stop....🤣🤣🤣

Drilling a bump stop 1/4 of an inch isn’t going to do much… I stand by my plan.

Agreed, youre not supposed to drill your bump stop. The documentation states to cut the bolt.

Two guys, a lift and $1,200.00 of parts. Great way to spend the day!
@hwi7114
@hwi7114 2 ай бұрын
Dude, that is way more than $1200 worth of parts, the LCAs alone are nearly twice that amount and a set of BP-51s are much more than twice that amount on their own.

Greetings, I have couple of question ; 1) What is the function of changing the LCA? 2) Is it worth it to upgrade the shocks from hydraulic(not the gas filled one) to adjustable monotube one like this BP-51? Of course the the hydraulic one is bigger compared to the stock (1.2 inch stock vs 2.3 inch in outer diameter and 0.8 inch stock vs 1.5 inch in piston diameter) # I kinda new to the offroad world and since I got a transferred at the middle of Bornean jungle of course the stock suspension is not gonna make it in next 3-4 years.

I saw that there was BP-51’s mentioned in the comments. How is the lift you put on versus the Eibach Pro Truck lift?
@OutdoorAuto
@OutdoorAuto 2 ай бұрын
This shocks aren’t really in the same class… the BP-51 is a bypass shock so a true adjustable shock, both compression and rebound… the Eibach is not a bypass shock.

Nice video, wish you guys would have removed and gusseted the front spindles while you were there, after seeing how that guy drives those spindles aren't gona stay straight for long.
@OutdoorAuto
@OutdoorAuto 2 ай бұрын
Spindles on these are cast, so welding gussets isn’t actually very straightforward… cast to regular steal isn’t in my repertoire yet… but also almost nobody has issues with the spindles on these… everyone has said the same on my Tundra and I run that harder then just about anyone… no failures🤷‍♂️
@CBautofab
@CBautofab 2 ай бұрын
@OutdoorAuto Toyota spindles are forged, not cast, no preheat needed when welding, just pop them off, take out the inner dust seal and wheel bearing, prep your weld area, fit your gussets and burn them in, I do this all the time. Your factory tundra spindles are almost twice the thickness all around compared to a tacoma spindle which is why almost no tundra guys opt for gussets, tacoma spindles when side loaded hard tend to bend right above the wheel bearing portion where it becomes the upright of the spindle, its right at the curve in the factory spindle design where the most leverage is applied, they don't usually break, just bend since there forged, lots of Tacoma, 4runner, FJ and GX owners have bent spindles and don't even know it but there vehicles never get or hold a true alignment and constantly have outer tire wear due to the bent spindle causing excessive positive camber on there turn radius.

Not really, I have had a shop 1.5 years of my 42 year long life. I started out poor in low income apartments… I wanted a shop, so I worked on my cars in a gravel driveway for 24 years, saved up my money, didn’t get in debt… and built a shop… the shop does invalidate the video… in fact the shop may prove the point even more.
