Wow, great video. This answers many of my questions, thank you very much. Now I now that I can easily start with an I7-12700. Let me ask one more big question, how far should I go with an external GPU to have a good improvement on the UHD770, especially when using color grading?

Nice explanation. Can you do performance test for video editing iGPU comparison between the UHD770-730 in the desktop processors and the Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics iGPU that is in the 12th gen Intel laptop processors? Since many people are doing editing on the road so we can see if the 12th gen mobile processors and iGPUs are any good for that. Thanks!

Tell everyone to put away the "pugetbench" premiere pro scores. This is the new gold standard. This is as revolutionary as PCper discovering "frame times" and 1% lows, a few years ago. It's a totally new niche of CPU benchmark. I have so many benchmark questions... ripe for new videos for sure. So many codecs, D-gpu and I-gpu combinations to test timeline/scrubbing/export speeds. I look forward to a new standardized benchmark to help us figure out which platform/gpu is best for our codec needs! Revolutionary work. This is beyond great, this will tell us what great is for new cpus and gpus.

Hi, I appreciate your decoding testing with Adobe & QuickSync. I have questions about all the CPUs with iGPU that you have kindly shown & tested for us. If I could be so bold, can I suggest/request that when you test the next iGPU from Ryzen 7000 series, AMD Ryzen G-Class CPUs, Newer Intel iGPUs, or even the dedicated Nvidia, AMD, & Intel Arc GPUs decoding abilities... can you set up some sequences that test the decoding abilities, but also demonstrate how well the CUDA or OpenCL hardware accelerated playback works? Especially these iGPU only test set ups, I'd like to see some realistic simple sequence, CUDA or OpenCL hardware acceleration put through the paces, to see if they'd be a viable solution if I can't get a proper GPU for adobe yer. Can it run basic graphics, text with motion, alpha channel logos, scaled & graded clips. I know it's asking a lot, but I am super interested in the stuff you demonstrate, and get excited when everything works beautify. Thanks for your work. Subscribed .

@TECH NOTICE, I am not sure if you did this video from my comments in your last video on this build but you can significantly reduce dropped frames if you have enough ram for a ramdrive. I have 64GB DDR4 and load my source files onto the ramdrive (46gb) to edit videos. The speed of a ddr4 ramdrive is typically 30GB read/write versus the fastest m.2 pcie gen 4 drive speed of 7GB read/write. DDR5 is what makes the 12th gen Intel so amazing but the massive capacities (256gb sticks are coming) running at 10000 mega transfers are still a couple years away. Then ramdrives will be the main device to edit videos from. My local Microcenter has had DDR5 in stock as of 2 days ago (OOS now) but $500 is way too much for 32GB of 5600 mega transfers kit of ram.
@dephinitions7454
@dephinitions7454 2 жыл бұрын
It makes more sense to just buy the basic crucial sticks at this point. it's why micro center has started to hang on to stock of other kits while the crucial always moves.

And now the big question: Do Intel ARC have the same performance? There are a lot of videomaker out there with cpu without igpu, but still with a very capable system overall. Putting a secondary GPU into the system and having the accelerated scrubbing performance would be a dream, without changing the whole system just to buy a brand new intel cpu. In theory, just the A380 should be better than an iGPU. But no one have tested this so far.

in 4K editing -while I tested the RTX 3060 indeed offers improved performance and faster rendering then UHD 770, the ultimate goal is the final output. If both of the end results remains consistent, then the choice of hardware becomes less critical. Remember, it’s not just about the journey; it’s about reaching the destination with the desired outcome

@theTechNotice
@theTechNotice 2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question and TBH I doubt it's very good since as you can see in this video the actual GPU power of the UHD770 Is not very good, but the encoders/decoders are very good. So I wouldn't put my bets on a heavy colour grading.... but it's definitely better at 1080p than what you saw in this vid.

It's not meaningless to study 8K as it should be accelerated by UHD770, but Premiere should require 128GB for 8K projects. After all, UHD770 may be better than even RTX3090 in case you edit HEVC 4:2:2 footages directly. Well, at least during editing and in fast projects without using GPU effects.

".. fast projects without using GPU effects." I'd like to see how usable the OpenCL muscles are on the IGPUs. Would they handle most BASIC transformative effects that I'd be accustomed to with a dedicated modern GPU?, the real-time playback & previews without stopping to render. How much can it be pushed with effects?

Hi, been watching your videos recently to get insights on pc parts to help me decide on creator content related matters aside from gaming. I have a very detailed and specific question. for context I'm a college student in an animation course(Bachelor of Science in Animation). I definitely need to upgrade my work station from my horrible i3 6006u laptop with an intel HD 520 igpu. So yes I am restricted up to 1080p video editing and below and 2D animation at most. My course will eventually move to Blender rendering starting with rendering box figures for my 1st Term around 2nd year starting September 2022. So I was considering 2 plans because I want to spend most of money on a good midrange and latest gpu when I am building my first desktop while saving up a total of $1800 at least or more. My 1st plan was to just settle with an i5 12600k and rtx 30 series when the price goes down and build it from there months later before my course moves to blender or else my laptop would cry. My 2nd plan was to instead spend more for the cpu and get an i7 12700k and go without a gpu then hold out and save until the rtx 40 series comes out. I was hoping to buy around an rtx 4060 series later on. So it would all hold out on the 12th gen UHD 770 So the question is, can a 12th gen alder lake UHD 770 hold out until an rtx 4060/4070 series release? It is dated around 4th Quarter of this year thank you for reading.

Should have overclockes the igpu. In the 12700k + it overclocks with absolute ease. Another 500mhz or so believe it or not, and +0.12 volts. Games get an extra 10-30fps depending on the title. You missed the ball bot exploring that, it’s a big deal. Doesn’t increase heat.

Depends on a project, not everything can be accelerated on GPU, difference could be massive and not massive.... just depends what codecs, what effects, what motion graphics etc...

Hi man, Thanks for the video, that was great. I having Sony A1 and I'm planning to buy a perfect desktop for editing 4k & 8k footages. I'm using davinci resolve currently. Should I go with Ryzen 5950X or Intel I9 - 12900k ? RTX 3080 or 3080 Ti ? Need your suggestion on this, Please help me to choose the right one.

I just don't think Windows 7 is going to know what to do with this unbalanced weird mix of Performance and Efficient cores on the whole new Intel processors. For obvious reasons, you never want to use Windows 10 or 11 as your desktop OS.

@@theTechNotice cant wait for the test. 12700 is more affordable tho. Can it run on b660 motherboard with full potential? Also can u compare the igpu with the 12900k

So needed, but at the same time so not relevant niche for this channel. I would be glad to see this comparison in all cases related to 2D work like CAD, Graphic Design, Photo Editing.

This video is NOT AT ALL realistic. Why on earth would someone with an i9 12900k and DDR5 setup NOT have a discrete graphics card!? Makes no sense! You should have tested out the iGPU UHD770 performance on lower end processors like the i512600K. That makes sense. This doesnt. Before people argue that yeah, it's the same iGPU in the entire line-up, Naah bro! Despite the iGPU being the same, the frequencies are different. Also, a lot of other parts are like top of the line. DDR5 RAM and Gen4 ssd makes a world of difference.
