7:39 I’m gonna leave so I don’t get spoiled, but I’m so happy to hear that the movie was good as we were all worried it wouldn’t be. I wasn’t going to watch Wish at all, but now you’ve convinced me that it’s worth a shot. Whether I can drag anyone to the theater with me is another question…

I agree with you about the songs. None of them felt like I could hum them coming out of the theatre. They also felt like an after thought to the story and didn’t really advance the story. I agree, Asha needed some stakes for the movie. I think they struggled with deciding what the movie should be. Is it a movie on its own, or a prequel to all Disney movies. I didn’t hate the movie, but I don’t know that I can sing it’s praises either. I’m more of a 6 or 7 teacups.

Honestly, after watching the docuseries on Disney+ about the making of Frozen II all I can think when watching these movies is “how many of these decisions were made a month ago?”. The teaser trailer only introduced us to Asha, Magnifico and Valentino…I’m wondering if any of the supporting characters were last minute additions 🤔

First of all, I love your shirt. Second, I've been anxious to hear your thoughts on this new movie! We are going to see it this weekend!

Finally a Disney villain with a Disney villain song! It's been TOOO long. I really like this movie. It is one of the better Disney movies since they peaked with Frozen.

That’s a great take on it. I have seen several reviews and they all are about 8/10 or 7/10 so that’s promising. Also that is a movie I wanted for a long time: who is in the magic mirror and how did that happen? That’s movie they need to make. Once Upon a Time Time’s version was ok but I wanted it a little deeper than that. I kind of wish they had made an evil couple but I like a good queen too. And the queen finding out her husband was evil after they are married and she has to become the hero, yes, that would be an incredible Disney movie but the trailer would need to be zero spoilers so it could shock everyone! I feel that movies have way too much in their trailers these days. We need the less is more approach. Always love your videos! Cheers!

Great movie review! I didn't know anything about this film, and now I have the context for it so that now I'm excited to go see it!

I'm just here to find out what Disney did to King Magnifico, I guess people called it when they said Disney will make him into the villain. The crowning on the cake would be that Asha is shown to be right and can grant everyone their wishes. never learning why King Magnifico couldn't do it.

Yup, he is 100% the villain! And there is a cool twist at the end when (SPOILER TO FOLLOW) he becomes trapped in a mirror and it’s heavily implied that he becomes the magic mirror from Snow White. Asha is also shown as being really bad with magic, but Star gives her a magic wand anyway and they hint at her becoming the first fairy godmother. It’s a fun movie and worth seeing!

What I find extremely weird, is that the Wish songs are ALL credited with Disney. No other hit has Disney credited with the artists that sing them (IE any Moana, Frozen, Encanto, etc). So, it makes me wonder if that's *AI* or just orchestra (even though Disney is NOT credited for accompaniment in other songs). It rubs me the wrong way since they made this movie during SAG too.

Was lucky enough to see this movie and I would probably give it a 9 out of 10. It was so hard for me to be critical because the movie made me feel so many feelings and just had a lot of stuff that was so cool and fun and different about it. Great video as always matt.

I'll get more entertainment from watching the excuses for yet another Disney flop than I will get from consuming any Disney product this year. Watching Disney fail and flail has become my new fandom.

As long as Disney is entertaining you in some capacity, they’re doing their job 😂

I have not seen Wish yet, but I need to say that the music is the biggest thing holding me back from watching it. It feels like the cadence is off for many of the songs, like they could have easily cut a few words from the lyrics to help it flow together much better. "For us" could have been cut from This Wish and help it feel less like an awkward squeeze in while still keeping the intended meaning!
@TeacupForOne9 ай бұрын
Agreed, the music still hasn’t won me over, but since they released most of the songs in advance of the film I knew what to expect before going in to see the movie…I’m not sure how I would have felt if I went in not having heard anything beforehand 😬 But still, I really enjoyed it!
