I mean... either way works for Isabela. I miss Merrill. She should've been able to discover these things about her people. Reclaiming her heritage is a core character trait of hers, after all.

Merrill would be a great Veil Jumper. Also... with so many Eluvians around, I think she would be veeeery happy to study them safely and finally without being cast out or judged for her methods. Also, I am quite sure she and Bellara would be best friends and would study Magic, Eluvians and the Crossroads for hours forgetting to eat and sleep🤣

@@andreagrussu6778 I do feel like Veilguard cheapens Merrill's experience with her own Eluvian with how easy it is for people to use and fix them and how little pushback she would've gotten if she were here. I dunno, Merrill just suffered so much because of her quest because of the people around her. She would've had a much better time with the Veil Jumpers, I think. But they didn't exist in the lore yet.

@Loveless1128 so, this is a bit more tricky. I understand what you mean, but the situation with the Eluvians changed very much across the games. First of all, Merrill was working on a prieviously blighted and shattered Eluvian that she had to repair and cleanse on her own in a place where magic was not as common as in Arlathan forest (especially after the raw magic Solas' ritual unleashed). Second, Merrill's Eluvian was found in Ferelden, and in the south Eluvians and other powerful magical artifacts are not as common or object of study like in Tevinter. Also, while Bellara could work on the artifacts she found freely and could eventually ask other Veil Jumpers, Merrill had to do it in secret and with no help from her Clan. And Third, she started working on her Eluvian while Solas was still asleep, and so the Network of Mirrors was not as active, and she tried to make ot work BLINDLY. I mean, Morrigan said that sometime Knowledge can be the key to unlock an Eluvian and Merrill did not have that. She ironically wanted to get Knowledge out of the Eluvian, but it's the Eluvian that needed Knowledge to unlock.

@@Loveless1128 Well, the Trespasser DLC opened up a lot of that. Morrigan and the Inquisitor, etc., figured out how to use the Eluvian network and get to The Crossroads. It makes sense that over the eight years after that, that the elves especially would learn more. Most people aren't using them at all, or aware of their existence. You can use them in The Veilguard because you've got access to Solas' Lighthouse, which is connected to all active Eluvians. Anyway, DA:I is the game that has Morrigan learn how to fix her own Eluvian, and Bellara states in some part of Veilguard that she feels she is close to understanding how to build one, but she doesn't know everything about the magic of the ancient elves, yet. Sure, it cheapens Merrill a bit, but she did it before all of these people, other than Solas, which doesn't really count.

She escapes if she does in DA2. No matter what happened in DA2 she becomes who she is now. It only a matter of her opinions about Hawke that changes.

It doesn't matter if the (former) Arishok took her away. She escapes anyways and the Arishok got replaced by Sten from DAO anyways

Canonically she escapes no matter what. DA2 was clear. Isabela always survives.

Varric says in Inquisition that Isabela escaped with the book. That is why the Arishok was executed by his people and then Sten from Origins took his place as the new Arishok.

They also disavowed his actions in Kirkwall And according to Varric they said and I quote: "We will never speak of this again."
