Two things to remember about trees: 1. The branches and leaves generally extend as far out as the roots, so imagine where the roots must run for a tree that size, and that's where your leaves should end. 2. The only trees that would be able to grow in the shadow of the canopy, and competing with the water and nutrient sucking roots of the mega-tree will be somewhat stunted and malnourished. Together, these facts mean that, once you're done with the branches, you'll have to terraform the jungle in your tree's shadow. No full size trees, only little shrubs. Maybe use acacia leaves, because they're darker. Darker leaves absorb more light, and with less light beneath your tree, the shrubs need to be better at absorbing light. Fungi would have a field day in the lower light conditions, too, so putting down lots of mushrooms on the ground, and shelves of it low on the trunk, would be good. You might want to put podzol down instead of grass, in the shadow of your tree, too.

Iskall, just so you know, if you put all the branches together of a tree, it equals the same amount of the thickness of the trunk. So basically, the thickness of the trunk divided by (how many braches there should be) = the thickness of the branches.

When I do mega trees, I start by building a small land mass in the air, then I use saplings and carpet to grow some large trees. Once that's done, I remove the land mass, trim away the large tree trunks, and connect the leaves to the mega trunk with logs.

When you eventually move to the second layer, you can make the tree more dense by having the second layer of branches go at different angles from the first layer. This should save space and allow you to get three layers before hitting the build limit and also make it appear more organic.
