wow! thankyou ! Isopods ! ( what else do you need in life ? ) Isopods are my favorite animals!!! my favorite ones are armadillo officinalis Greece , local lads , dairy cows, powder blues and the best ones - porcellio werneri . the trilobites ) when I first got my isopods ( from the outside off course ) I could not help looking in to the colony and moving stuff to see them , knowing they would do better if I would not ... but its this black hole of isopod keeping witch keeps you in... question ! should I split the isopod culture if there are like hundreds of'em ? my first ever shoutout in any video !!! thank you very much ! ❤❤❤

Why do you like isopods so much? They’re very boring in my opinion.
@mrx34303 жыл бұрын
@@oud13yearsago83 isopods are awesome. If you don't like them first glance, there is not a lot of ways to convince you... But I got interested in isopods, from a feeding video from Dayyan, and then I fell in to this black hole - if you get in there is no way out... Now I have a few of my own isopods all thanks to Dayyan ☺️
@oud13yearsago833 жыл бұрын
@@mrx3430 Lol I’m much more interested in keeping arachnids and insects. I have a tailless whip scorpion right now, I was thinking about getting springtails for his enclosure, they’re somewhat isopods no? Lol.
Phew! Believe me when I say this video took hours to film and edit (as the isopod tours always do)! Hope you all enjoy the first isopod tour of 2021! Make sure to watch till the end for the question of the day! Don't forget I always have leave a list of isopod species featured in the video description in order of appearance so that you know what everything is and how to spell each species latin names! I accidentally forgot to create a label for Porcellio hoffmannseggi which appears in the video at 36:37. Thanks for watching!

My son., now 21, used to collect isopods from our Western Washington yard (constantly move objects to procure them, objects dad daily felt it necessary to reorient to their designated locations)..... And bring them in his room.... In his bed. One time my wife went to wake him and she found hundreds of them in his bed with him "because they were his friends" and he liked the way it felt. I just now discovered isopod appreciation is a thing...

It was great to watch you feed them, how you feed them, talk about the different foods, see how much you feed them and all the other neat info along the way. Repetition is how we learn, I’m thankful for the full feed, not boring by any means 😮🤔💜

Keep doing why you are doing! Have patience as the Armadillidium genus sometimes take longer to start reproducing. as long as things aren’t too moist everywhere and they do have a drier side accompanied by a nice moist area and a moss corner with good substrate and food all round, they should do great! How is the ventilation? You want to make sure there is some ventilation as well :).

I wouldn't. i tried- i thought it would be great. the isopods outcompeted the snails and chewed on their shells. i kept zebra pillbugs with them, but the population got SO big so fast that the snails were in rough shape by the time I realized and separated them :( they also eat the snail eggs

Have you ever looked into Rubber Ducky Isopods? (Cubaris sp. Rubber Ducky) I think they were found in Thailand round limestone caves, so they may have some unique care requirements, I just love how they look and cause they can be quite pricey (sometimes), I feel I'll probably end up keeping them as pets, instead of breeding for bioactive enclosures like I'll probably end up doing with a few species, (Some for tropical bios and some for arid bios) 😅 Just so I can see them more easily, instead of having some sort of other invert, reptiles or amphibian in there. Really love your videos, keep up the great work 👍 It's nice to actually have some good pettubers I can watch instead of having to avoid all the exotic pet videos out there, I can at least have some to watch 🤗
