To Emily's point, the reason Jordan and Egypt occupy a piece of Palestinian land is because Egypt is an American puppet state. Even if you study the war in detail its very strange how Egypt lost the war and numbers don't add up. Actually an Israeli professor Ahron Bregman specialises in Israel's wars that have occurred and even he mentioned this point in his detailed military research . The point is America told Egypt to create an excuse to justify Israel's existence so the public can not retaliate. Henceforth, Egypt utilised that war and till this day utilises that war as an excuse to its public that they can not help their neighbours because Israel too strong. Same went for Syrian regime which had close coordination with the US till early 2000s. And same goes for Jordan which went on from being a British puppet to an American puppet. Point is America manipulates all these players against each other according to its national interests. If it needs to it will establish friendship between Israel and these nations and when it wants to it will create conflict and division. Because at the end of the day the global currency is in dollars all military comes from the US and all global institutions are American and the whole post 1945 world order created by America so, it gives it the power to play carrots and sticks with others. I don't think the US political elite give two hoots about Israel its just a strategic pawn. As for Israel domestically speaking well the atrocities speak volumes about the government and even a lot of people on what they really think of the Palestinians as peoples.

Its hard to hear people speak with so much empathy for Israeli lives and not Palestinian - what about those who's families have been murdered in front of them, trapped under rubble for days, starved, tortured, imprisoned, pushed into refugee camps and then attacked. Only 1000 dead or injured including one of the hostages and 4 rescued, by allegedly using humanitarian aid trucks with no humanitarian aid inside but human special forces soldiers hiding behind humanitarian aid. Israeli military rescue operation =274 dead, 696 injured. 4 hostages rescued, 1 more murdered by their saviors. Ceasefire and negotiation = over 100 innocent Israeli hostages released, 100s of innocent Palestinian hostages released, no one dead. Ceasefire permanently = all illegally held innocent hostages released and Netanyahu tried and jailed. That's why its not happening. As for Piers, if you are made to look after hostages or comply with terrorists under threat of your own family dying are you also a terrorist, and does that mean you cant allow these people to have political solutions? If so why was Menachem Begin or Ben Gurion, Shamir, Peres, Arafat etc all who have innocent blood on their hands allowed to be political leaders, because its the only way for peace. I say this because this is what the I.R.A done yet eventually the reality meant these "terrorists" can only be stopped by allowing them to have a non violent political future.

The pro-palestinian side for months have been saying Israel should be sending in special forces and now they have they're just as outraged. IDF went in to rescue hostages and dozens of Hamas terrorists descended on them with a barrage of gunfire and RPG's which undoubtedly caused alot of the palestinian casualties. The IDF did exactly what people have been asking them to do by going in on the ground for this operation and Hamas, as per usual, sacrificed their own people for their own selfish, murderous aims.

To break through a prison, a concentration camp in which you have been held captive for more than two decades, to bypass one of the most advanced security systems in the world, and to bring prisoners back to the prison is the real heroism and ultimate bravery. Sad defeat. If you failed to release one prisoner for nearly a year from the underdog, and if you had the power to cut off water, food, and electricity, and if you ended up killing numerous prisoners you were attempting to save, then such an outcome would represent the ultimate defeat. Does this scenario suggest that these individuals are residing in a different reality? Shame.

It is a very unusual class of concentration camp that has shopping malls with restaurants, toy shops and beauty salons, and that is so desperate for medicines for its people that it actually turned away lorry loads of medicines from Israel three years ago. And it is a very strange kind of concentration camp that could afford to turn down 15 billion dollars in economic aid 4 years ago because it was not prepared to give an assurance that it would stop murdering Jews.
