Top video Andy. I was up on the Naze on Saturday night. I think that we camped in the spot where you camped, when me & Dave were in the spot where you wanted to camp, where you did camp in this video (lol, reading that back, I think that it makes sense?). 🙂 As you mentioned in the video, the other spot (where I was on Sat) doesn't have the best of views, but it does have plenty of space for 2 shelters. 👍

Great video thanks, will have to try the 7 min crossing, I crossed from Ringing Roger via the 590m trig in snow last January, mist wafting over the edges and sunny spells with splashes of snow and ice, so atmospheric and frozen underfoot! Camped above Hanging Stone Scar 3 weeks ago on Mallerstang, after walking via Lunds fell all you did, strange patches of bare vegetation up there, a long walk and I got a lovely day, a gap between fronts but woke up to clagg! Going to head up to Cross Fell or High Cup weather dependent next week. Best Regards Nick

Might help with the LED lighting and midges, white and blueish tone lighting attracts them but go to the yellow and pinkish tones and not so much, if the flextail does not offer an RGB feature try getting some gels, I have loads being a photographer and can cut a small section and cover the end with it and an elastic band to hold it on... PS LED is a blueish light and that is the worst which is why the fly zappers are emmit blue then bang LOL...

Andy, I was near what I think was the start of the 7 minute crossing last year (between upper and nether tor) and someone came walking straight up the side of Kinder, which surprised me, so I decided to go down that way and while it was very steep there was a grassy trail of sorts that popped out near the bottom of Grindsbook clough between some trees, right around the section where theres some stonework around one of the water runs off from Kinder. Maybe thats the path you saw

I bet you wish that was real ale 😂😂 The Heather does look great this year, I always thought it came a little later that purple, but certainly not complaining. Love that style of tarp, something id like one day. Im on strava as you know, I'll have to try beat your segment time 😂 gutted on the weather, but you were expecting it I guess, as for walking in it, I don't have a problem with it either, no use fighting the elements. I will add however that I don't like setting up camp in the wet, that's definitely no fun. Thanks for sharing Atb Mark

Hugely enjoyable video as always Andy. The size of the footprint of the Trailstar & Duomid put me off buying them. Settled on the Solomid XL & Cricket by way of compromise. You'll like the mesh inner. With a bit of faffing about I've got mine attached so it can be pitched all in one, with just a bit of adjustment sometimes necessary depending on the pitch. Toggles on the shock cord make this easy enough. Great video.

Nice video as always and great to watch mid week on a school night .Would the Chinese inners work in that Trailstar ? I have got the Chinese T Zipped mesh and solid and they work fine in the Duo Mid but i have never seen the Trailstar to know if they would work in that too. They arrive in a couple of weeks and cost around 55 to 60 quid and they are decent quality for that type of money too and dont weigh much either.. I have been wanting to ask how you are getting on with those Hokas because from my experience those type of soles work great for me and feel really comfy on hard ground but my feet slide all over in them when they get wet and i am on soft ground and when traversing hills they dont seem to offer anywhere near they kind of support that i prefer from boots.

had one of those inners when i had the duomid worked well after some mods but didnt really utilise the space..the purpose made ones reach into corners better.. the hokas im really impressed with so light & nimble on the feet while wearing them..better stability too strangely..maybe due to my toes spread giving a better sense of stability..only issue i have with them even though soloes are vibram the grip on wet rock isnt the best so just have to be wary on rock..
@Olan...
@Olan... 9 ай бұрын
@@AndrewBeavers cheers for that Andy I also have the Hex Peak v6a i think it is called so i know what you mean about the inner shape utilising the full footprint so maybe one of those inners would be a cheaper option for you and it will arrive in a couple of days. They are great quality for what they cost too. Re shoes, I had similar issues with Inov8 soles. I started off loving them and went all in and bought 3 different styles to cover all seasons . Everything was going well until i had a few very sudden slips on wet rock, one time falling in up to my waist with my pack on. They work great on dry rock and the grip is great in muddy situations bit they should have a MASSIVE WARNING on what they are like on wet rock and rock covered ungreen moss or algae because they are absolutely lethal . Going to give them Ultras a try next time i buy
