I feel like this is unrealistic. Abusive men dont just say "ok" and leave her alone. If a woman threatens to leave an abusive man, he becomes more violent. There's no way he would just accept this. It's lazy writing.

The only thing making this scene even a tiny bit realistic is that it’s taking place where the abuser works. He’ll protect his paycheck in ways he’d never protect her. Abusers claim they hit out of passion, that they couldn’t control their tempers. It’s a lie. Just ask their boss. They can control themselves at work just fine.

The laughing is something that I’ve seen a lot of people criticize but I think is pretty realistic. I laugh when I’m nervous and absolutely did so when I was also gently trying to explain to my abusive ex why I wanted us to break up due to his behavior. The paycheck is very accurate. He’d be protecting that and his reputation by not harming her or the baby, as well as there being staff and security who would be called in the minute something happened.

There varying degrees of abusers with a wide range of issues, self-awareness, and empathy. We don't live in a fantasy world where the villains all wear black and muahaha at their own evil plans. How can you make a claim about what's realistic when you don't even understand that reality is nuanced? I'm sorry but you really don't know about this topic nearly as much as you think you do

Lol exactly "what would you say?" lol, abusers would say they were a victim defending themselves. Or their situation is different and she deserved it. It's not like abusers are just sitting around thinking how bad their actions are because someone points it out. They have an excuse for everything. They're always the victim/hero.
@wildanimal3737
@wildanimal3737 17 күн бұрын
They actually do. A lot of abusers have actually been the one to walk away from the marriage and sought therapy on their own accord (or religion, in some cases). There have been many abusers who have reformed and some have even made it their life's work to help reform other abusers. Look it up. And it is important to show that, because sadly millions of them exist within our society

Isn't it so funny how those who haven't watched the film have a lot of negative things to say about it? **This is my explanation and understanding of this scene** What you are seeing now in this clip is a man, Ryle, who loves Lily as much as he loves his daughter. Lily trusted him to take care of and love their daughter because that's the only right thing her abusive father ever did in their family, love and protect her-- his daughter, wholeheartedly. Lily, over there, gave Ryle a long time to reflect on himself and cool down after hurting her. Both Lily and Ryle have their traumas. And these traumas didn't go well together... Lily lived in a household with a father who abused her mom but never his daughter. Ryle was traumatized as a child because of his parent's gun leading to his PTSD. Ryle grew up without healing his traumas, Lily on the other hand was able to overcome it BUT would never tolerate it if it ever happened again PLUS she won't ever let her daughter go through the same hate Lily has for her own father. This movie is like a band-aid to my heart who also has an ill-tempered father. Lily ended the abuse and chose herself and her daughter- the right things (I wish to do the same, my father is the best father but not a good husband). Ryle hopefully becomes a father who would never traumatize his daughter and promises to get help (which Lily's father never did). *This is a nice movie.* Will makes us think about the consequences of always following our heart but never the mind; learning from those awful experiences and promising ourselves to never be abused or to abuse. I hope people judge it as a movie they've watched rather than issues behind the scenes.

She's in a hospital, surrounded by lots of people and security. He wouldn't dare hurt that baby, or her, right then. That was her best chance at it. But if her stuff is not all destroyed or missing when she goes home, I'd be amazed. She's going to have to be ready to move in somewhere else, for her safety, and that of her baby daughter. People are going to have to go with her and pack everything up, and never go back.

It's still unrealistic. I watched the movie and up until this point (and the crib scene) I thought it was good enough writing. @bernardsoul5186
@bernardsoul5186 17 күн бұрын
@@watsmaname6189 Incorrect, definitely not "during" childbirth, thats ridiculous lol Abuse is usually cyclical, with long periods of calm, happy, and caring moments interrupted by incidents of abuse. And yes, these incidents increase in frequency during stressful times, and having a baby in the house is a huge cause of stress. But in this moment the baby had just arrived and everything was happy, oxytocin was flooding his brain, and they were in one of the safest possible spaces, so she actually picked the perfect moment to get him to do what he knew was the right thing.

I won’t watch this movie because of the entitled, miserable Blake. Choices people. It’s just a movie.

Remember people, Blake and Ryan rewrite the end scene. That's their work. That's how unprepared and ignorant they were of the role Blake was taking.

She made a mistake asking for a divorce. The baby might have brought them together as a loving family. Ryle & Lilly loved each other. You don't kick a dog when it's down.

I'll just say, Ryle was a good man. Lily could've asked him to take anger management therapy, he might have not abused her anymore. If you read the book, you'll know Ryle was good. Lily could have given another chance to him.

This is unrealistic. This abusive controlling guy will not let her go this easily. The innocent baby he will use as a bargaining chip and another way to control the mother.

Have you actually seen the movie or read the book? Have you read up on the background behind the writing of the book?
