Somewhere along the line I think Jim had an awakening and it made a dramatic change in him that many people don't understand and they say "he's gone off the deep end". I have always enjoyed Jim Carrey's acting, both comedic and serious. He is a true talent. But I am so much prouder of him for breaking through the egoism of his trade and speaking the words he says in this video.☯

When talking of Jim Carrey people talk of quotes that span over decades... and when talking of mental illness it's never 100% stable, on/off. There's videos of him that definetely qualify as "crazy" - in the lack of a better, more respective word for someone struggling with something so heavy they no longer care if they scare off other people. There's a lot of wisdom in him, but there are also these videos that that give me terrible flash backs of talking with seriously depressed and suicidal people. "Crazy" is not the best word for it... but it's certainly not that someone is either wise or crazy :)

"The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is" -Jim Carrey I love that Jim took his father's legacy to do something great with his own life, and while acknowledging his father's weaknesses, never cuts him down for it, only shows understanding and compassion for the decisions his father thought he had to make. My own parents were always busy, so I was left with adults who bullied me almost to oblivion. My mom has always been supportive and encouraging when she could be there, but the bullying taught me to fall silent, which then caused me to seek out other bullies in my adult relationships. Last year, I finally decided to get professional therapy and cut the bullies out of my life once and for all. I am now surrounded by *only* love and support, and finally going to school for what I always wanted to do even though I'm in my 30's now, because it's never too late. I am noticing, even at my current job, that I am being seen for who I truly am. Some people act so wonderful to perfect strangers and give them all the credit for their success, and are completely cruel to the ones closest to them behind closed doors. I'm glad Jim talks about overcoming fear rather than denying its existence. Notice he never says to simply not feel fear, just to face it and fight it and choose the path fear doesn't want you to take. Notice his lack of blaming language. Some people will claim that you are controlled by fear simply by admitting that you are afraid, even if you're being brave as Hell and standing up to their BS instead of falling in line as one of their little sock puppets. That's not love. That's someone who wants to blame you and use you. They're mad that you're inconveniencing them because deep down, they don't respect you or think you're worth any effort. They don't think you're special or unique, or even interesting. They just want you to be quiet so they can take you for granted without ever telling you, hey, you're worth more than you know and that your gut is tattling on their true intentions. You deserve to feel like you matter. You deserve to feel like you're special to those who are special to you. You deserve to be seen and heard. You deserve to shine bright. You Deserve Better. And while making a bunch of strangers and fans happy for a few moments is important, the way you make the people closest to you feel consistently will be your true legacy in the end, just like Jim Carrey's father, because the truth always comes out through those you affect the most. Jim Carrey shines bright by helping others shine around him. That's what really inspires me.

Deep thinkers are sometimes plagued with train of thought, thoughts, they become confused and can't figure out where the thoughts are coming from, or believe these thoughts are coming from their own mind. When I find a friend struggling this way, I say to them what was said to me: these thoughts are not you; you are the listener. It is the first quiet of mind. Radio off. Those frequencies are still floating about and if you tune in with emotion you can pick that station up again.

People who dare to find the insight of their own path to find harmony in their soul get questioned. Those asking don’t want to be reminded that they follow a path made for no one and they know it but still walk it bitterly instead to be inspired and dare. Dare to live exposed rather than a living dead in an armour of resentfulness. No one can figure out how courageous you can be from love but you.

In an interview, Jim Carrey was asked where the transformation occurred that caused him to give up many of his ambitions from his younger years? His answer: "Somewhere in the middle of absolute confusion, absolute disappointment. The fruition of all of my dreams, standing there with everything anyone else had ever dreamed of having, and being unhappy.” Fame, talent, wealth, accomplishments, and accolades do not make people happy, or at least, not for very long. That is a profound lesson for the rest of us.

Carrey is a thinker, a savant of his own soul out of need. It was he who, as the manuscript for my memoir grew wider and deeper under me, assured me that, "We who are different have a chance to be original." It was one a very few Truths I needed to carry me. How about that. All those people telling me I was weird weren't wrong. And not only was it not a problem, it worked out rather well in a roundabout way. Behaviors which required "extra" work to attain or control during childhood became a strength during my adolescence. Everything I had to work especially hard on during my adolescence became one of the strengths that kept me alive when the bottom fell out of the world as a young adult. Another Truth, capital "T." Everything that I REALLY wanted in this life, drum set, fun times, pretty girls, THE Girl of all girls, adventures in my style, body mods on the girl, house with "picket fence," motorcycle, and career as jack-of-many and temporary Master of a few trades along the way. Those are the TANGIBLE things. But that saying, "If you want it bad enough, you'll get it."? All those things on the above list? I wanted each of them at different times with an ache I can still feel today. Age is another word for "experienced, now wrinkled." But it doesn't mean that childhood or the ineffable, piquant joy peculiar to the teen years of "first times" must necessarily be lost under the weight of passing time. "The poet's function is to make his imagination ... become the light in the minds of others. His role, in short, is to help people live their lives." - Wallace Stevens

I'm a deep thinker and it don't get me nowhere. What I got from this was the courage to ACT! And listen to that voice inside that I mostly tell to SHUT UP!

I am 64 and I grew up with Jim Carreys "Genius". And it helped me get through a lot of hard times through the years. I am not just a fan, but like the special video I made for him says, he is more than just a famous Celebrity. He is also A "Fellow Canadian". I hope he gets to see it someday.
