Tammy’s weight loss of 115 lbs in rehab makes me wonder if it was because of the tracheotomy. Id you don’t know a tracheotomy is pretty invasive and makes it quite difficult to physically eat. I just don’t feel like she all of the sudden overcame her food addiction in one night. I feel like she lost the weight because she physically couldn’t maintain it
@UsernameUnkwn21

Obviously she didn't overcome it overnight ..but you also don't know what else the rehab is working with her on re: pt and therapy so never say never ..
@LK-tp2le

The initial weight loss is more important for her to regain enough mobility to be able to engage in exercise. Also, the surgeon said she will be collected straight from rehab and taken for the gastric surgery once she is a safe weight for the op so it should hopefully reduce her regaining the weight.

She lost most of the weight while she was in the coma and in critical care. If you see recent UNfiltered pics or Tiktok clips of her, it's clear she hasn't lost weight, and has likely gained most of that 115 back. In one of her latest ones she's sitting there with a huge Mountain Dew. They aren't doing anything with her weight, she's there right now pretty much because she needs the trach care, and because she can't do anything for herself at home. I thought she really wanted to change but she doesn't. She's supposedly "dating" someone again already she met online, likely another feeder. If she were serious about losing weight, even slightly, she could've easily been down over 150+lbs by now, and it would be noticeable even on her.

It's not hard to make Tammy into the villain on this show. She is abusive and immature. She pushes her family away while at the same time expecting them to cater to her at all times. It's so frustrating to watch an adult act like that.

Golden retriever is a good description. There's something wholesome and joyous about Chris, just like a boisterous yet caring doggo. He and his wife really care for each other in a healthy way. And that drives Tammy wild with envy and spite. Her type would rather pull happy people into the gutter than do something to improve her life so she could also be happy. I haven't watched many of these videos, but I've seen enough to predict that Tammy will never change, because she has chosen to hang onto her attitude of refusing to accept any sort of personal responsibility for her life. Meantime, Amy and Chris are moving on, reaching their goals, step by step.
@Laf631
@Laf631 2 жыл бұрын
I think part of it is just that Tammy is meaner than before. When Chris had a setback, she openly sneered about it, even though he course-corrected pretty dang quickly considering he's combating a lifetime of ingrained, bad habits. She's verbally abusive to Amy, despite the fact that Amy bends over backwards to accommodate her. She's mean to her in-home nurse, when the nurse is just there to help Tammy meet the very achievable goals that she has set for herself. I'm sure TLC is doing some evil editing, but when someone basically goes out of their way to be an asshole to everyone around them, I don't know that they have to try very hard either.

I love Chris, he's got such a good mindset - give him the tools and advice and he will fix the problem. Sure he slips up at times but recovery is never linear and once he knows he's slipped, he gets back on track. He started exercising and dieting before the doctor even told him to, if I remember. It makes Tammy look even worse by contrast

Let her sleep in the van! Stop playing along with her, stop teaching her that you'll give her what she wants when she whines hard enough! Damn! No matter how it's edited, you can't edit in that attitude. Tammy is a spoiled brat, which of course is enabled by her family. @AuralayKristine
@AuralayKristine 2 жыл бұрын
@@anikejulien7273 Mostly just walking a lot and counting calories! I actually started out just walking with my dad. Lost close to 40lbs just from being a little bit more active. But then I started gaining back because my body kind of equalized and got used to the activity levels, so I realized I needed to start paying attention to my calorie intake too. I went to healthline and calculated my my estimated 'calories to eat in a day to lose weight' and started tracking everything. I weigh daily and write down my weight and my food intake in a little notebook. (Not everyone likes daily weights but I do. But if you do daily weights you should know that day-to-day weight will fluctuate a lot. I only do it so I can chart my overall loss in line graph form lol). When I first started counting I was able to eat quite a bit more but as I"ve lost I've adjusted my intake for my lower body weight because smaller bodies burn fewer calories just existing than larger ones do. And I've started finding lower-calorie things to eat so I can eat more (for instance, I love pizza, but a frozen pizza was costing me 1040 calories, so now I make pizzas on low-carb tortillas with weighed out cheese, sauce, and venison as the topping. Delicious, and I can have 2 of them for around 450 calories total). BUt bottom line: walking and counting calories and eating lower-cal foods so I can still eat a lot without gaining weight. :)

Tammy is the villian of her own life and Amy's honestly. Amy is sick of her behavior and walking away- that didn't come from nowhere. And as messed up as it is to say the entire family would have a huge burden lifted from them if she passed. I know that's terrible to say but we have to be honest.
@citadelofwinds1564
@citadelofwinds1564 2 жыл бұрын
Honest and realistic. I used to do counselling in my younger years, and I dealt with too many professional victims like Tammy who blamed everyone else and refused to take personal responsibility. Tammy's case is extreme - both the level of her entitlement and her verbal abuse of her family, as well as her weight - but there's enough similarities that I can predict she will not change her ways, and now it's only a matter of time before she commits the final act of her long drawn out s**cide by food. This is the choice she has made. And her story makes for a sobering cautionary tale for others.
@sambrian174

Regardless of what Tammy experienced in her past, there needs to be a point where people are held accountable for their behavior. She is not just "frustrating" she is abusive. She's not the villain here though, I agree. But she should be at least treated and seen as an adult who can't always get her way and people making excuses to minimize her behavior.

The 'stare' Tammy gives people when they aren't doing or saying what she wants them to remind me of the stare I used to give people when I was incredibly mad, but also feeling pretty powerless in my position. It was even captured on a photo at a party once (when I was like 11) where I felt really sort of excluded and I don't even know what else, but seeing this same reaction in Tammy all of the time gives me a feeling of where her mental state must be at. I do feel bad for her but the way she treats her family just... makes her so damn unlikeable.

I do hope Tammy will achieve some health improvement (apparently she;'s lost loads of weight thanks to the trach :O ) - maybe she can just spend a year or so in hospital and have people look after her and really get her weight loss going.

What's even more heartbreaking is that despite having a supportive and helpful family (they're not perfect themselves), Tammy is still in that downward spiral with her abusive behaviour and the unwillingness to take responsibility for herself. It's just sad.

It really depends on whether you're dealing with anxiously or avoidantly attached people because that family of origin definitely gave them insecure attachment styles. Amy especially is anxiously attached. She worries about others more than herself and you can see how terrified she is of Tammy's reaction to whatever changes she makes in her life. Through this journey she overcame some of her trauma and put herself first but she's now mostly motivated by her desire to become the best mum for her son, again defining herself through her relationships to others. In her relationship with her sister, she is the giver, the one who invests and suggests, who comes back again and again. Tammy is avoidant. She lives in her head (where she lives independently and doesn't have to rely on anyone). Because this delusion is barely held up by reality, she is terrified of change and of having to deal with a new reality. She fears being rejected and abandoned but at the same time she thinks her 'don't care' attitude makes her superior to Amy, who is easily manipulated by her tantrums. Her go-to self-soothing strategy is gratification and numbing (food, social media, drinking). Locking down any negative emotions is her childhood survival strategy. Her family pushing her makes her less likely to change because she feels criticised and attacked, rather than cared for and supported. Unless she's willing to tackle the underlying mental blocks and her trauma, she will eventually die of her destructive lifestyle. So one can see why one succeeds because she's survived childhood by being the fixer and the carer, the one who works for love and appreciation, whereas the other fails because she experienced that caring and trying doesn't get you love and appreciation, it gets you criticism and rejection.

Well said. Nailed it. One is a caregiver and codependant, and the other is a user and abuser. The only cure for Amy is to detach herself, to literally stop revolving her life around meeting Tammy's needs. I haven't watched the series, but these videos suggest that Amy has started to set better boundaries, and will stop enabling Tammy.

I want a long, active, healthy life. But sometimes, I feel I have to justify doing / not doing something because it's for / against my goals. I am not so strong, I have a hard time just brushing it off, so I have to hype my feeling, desire to change for myself more (With science, studies and facts!) to back me up and get me going. You do that for me, along with other people I really appreciate the content, but I mean, you give me what I miss and the means to explain it! I also love the 1000 pounds sisters and I love those who really, realistically changed their life. Thank you so much!

I'm an amputee. I lost my right leg below the knee, due to a severe birth defect.,in 99 I was only 32,. I had 3 young boys at the time, and I had to get up,and do things. I got a prosthetic leg and I'm still more than 20 years later,walking and taking care of myself. Yes,it was painful and difficult. It frustrates me so much seeing people who can walk, like tammy, and Jennifer gwen ann, using wheelchairs. Another thing btw,if ur poor like myself and on Medicaid, u can only get 1 wheelchair per lifetime. And other big items, like a shower chair,walker,etc. So those things are needed by people who truly need them. Thank you so much for the video 🤗

Respiratory therapist here In case anyone is wondering you CAN eat with a tracheostomy as long as you pass the aspiration test. I don’t if this is the case with Tammy, but I think her being in a controlled environment has made all the difference. SOMEONE ELSE is deciding what she eats, when she eats, and how much activity she gets. As for Tammy, I agree with everyone who says that she’s abusing her family and expecting them to cater to her. She’s INFURIATING! The tipping point for me was when they paid all that money to accommodate her on vacation and she blew it off so she could hole herself up in a hotel and talk to the man she had a restraining order against.

I _dearly hope_ Amy doesn’t let Tammy in her house after rehab. I have a feeling Tammy would like nothing more than to move in, drive a wedge between Amy and her husband until maybe her husband leaves and the kids leave w/ him…and then Tammy is the center of Amy’s world again. Don’t do it, girl!

Tammy needs therapy before anything else. We don’t know what exactly happened that makes her the way she is. A lot of her behavior reminds me of myself, just that my addiction isn’t food but other substances. I have bpd and a lot of tammys behavior is like I’d be if I just “let loose” on my impulsive, delusional behavior. She never learned regulation of emotions, probably has problems with that due to trauma (trauma can look very different from person to person!) and just tbh, Tammy doesn’t have the same emotional support as Amy and Chris, since Tammy doesn’t have a somewhat stable romantic relationship. Like, yes a relationship won’t save her, i that state she’s in she’s probably not able to maintain a healthy relationship, but I guess a partner is something that gives you that feeling, that there’s gonna be someone on your side. And objectively Tammy has her family to support her, but she may not see it because her way of thinking isn’t objective. She sees that people are going on with their life without her. She doesn’t seem to be able to follow that and since she has not much room for coping mechanisms she resorts to being mean, eating, vaping, drinking (typical self destructive behaviors I know from myself) I’m not saying Tammy has bpd in particular but I can see that unstable self image and self destructive behavior in her. And I kinda understand where that is coming from. I couldn’t stop my drug addiction right now, out of the blue. And I’m not good with people telling me that I’m ruining my life with it, I know that, but it’s the ONLY thing that gives me a spark of joy rn, and I guess that’s similar for tammy.

I think some people forget these are real people living like this and they deserve happiness and health just like anyone else. I hate that Tammy is so jealous and bitter of everyone else’s success that she doesn’t focus on herself as much as she should. She’s too busy being focused on them and being jealous they are going on with their lives with or without her. Of course they want her to be there but you can literally only do so much especially when Tammy is becoming a toxic person in their lives and shaming them for doing good things for themselves. I hope whatever is blocking Tammy from seeing the reality and not focusing on herself is resolved. She’s not a child anymore. It’s time to grow up and take responsibility of your own body.
