That fight scene was so realistic for toxic relationships. And the way they apologise like "I'm sorry you feel that way" but you don't know any better so you stay. This short film hit me in all the feels. Such a masterpiece. And Sadie and Dylan were absolutely incredible in this. I'm so glad she chose to do this.

What you missed was... 'Him, later on' was identified as Jake Lyon... who was also credited as a 'gaffer'... she credited a "Jake" as Jake!

Gaffer is the one who pues together all the equipment, cables, lights and such in the set. Probably because of Covid she avoided adding an extra person and pick him from the people in the set because of his similar hair

I commented on another post about her saying "That's it!?" when you were trying to read her lips. One other person mentioned that, too. Another easter egg that I remember Taylor had mentioned was during the fight scene. She showed it by her placement of the main light in the shot being that light above the gas stove. It was just a subtle clue and hint about his "gaslighting" behavior going on. And to respond to some other comments here, it was NOT jut a regular disagreement- He was gaslighting her, which is when the perpetrator denies that their bad behavior ever even happened and gets defensive and actually begins accusing the other person as if they are in the wrong for no good reason and makes them feel as if they are going crazy, being too sensitive or even that they imagined it and it never actually happened and that they are making a big deal out of nothing, which is exactly what he did. This is a tactic used to undermine the very experience and memory and the validity of the feelings of the other person. It's heinous and a very subtle and calculated psychological manipulation. If someone is insecure or vulnerable, or too trusting and not aware that people do this, then they can be taken advantage of and emotionally and mentally abused. She was not completely without participation in this dynamic- her communication was not good either, as Lauren said, and not everyone is vulnerable to this type of abuse if they have good self-esteem and boundaries. Someone else might have spotted it a mile away what an ass he was and not let it continue for as long as it did, even though he was completely disrespectful and dismissive of her in several ways repeatedly. She seemed to be starting to catch on to his strategy and tried holding him accountable. So then he used another tactic that a lot of abusers do when the think they are caught or called out and can't deny it anymore, they'll start apologizing profusely (and not mean it) and "love bomb" the person with gifts or lot of affection and distract them with good sex. It's an other manipulation to get away with bad behavior and keep the person under their emotional control to get what they need, not actually considering the other person's needs at all.

I gotta make a confession. I have watched this short film only 3 times by myself. Because it felt like being in an awkward situation, witnessing a couple's fight. And you can't leave or intervene because they are your friend's parents. I was like sinking, drowning and dying in my private "misery loves company" solo party each time. So, I watch reaction videos instead bc I get to focus more on other people's reaction for a change. Aside from that, i like watching the grown up Taylor in the lyric video as well. She's just reminiscing, breaking into a smile every now and then because the pain is long gone. And the only thing she remembers all too well is how we made this song into one of the swiftie anthems. That's why I love my fellow swifties as much as I love her. And here's a toast to the real fans who don't care about the "he said, she said!" 🥂🍻

Then when I watched Ash's reaction of this, she was able to point out Sadie and Dylan's kissing scene reference to Spider-man which... I think you know that Jake has played Mysterio on that movie lol.
@mellowsan42182 жыл бұрын
Not only he was Mysterio but also, supposedly he never told her he loved her because he was still fixated with Kirsten Dunst, who he dated from 2002 to 2004 and the person he compared his girlfriends, including Taylor, with. And Kirsten WAS the girl in the first Spiderman movie AND a redhead in that movie, but blonde in real life.

@@jericorivera4766 I know right? The most interesting thing is that I think she ruined him for all other girls, because they broke up because he was too committed and calm, a stay at home boy and she wanted to party and have fun. So after she broke his heart he became the party boy and heartbreaker. Too bad Taylor was the one affected, but I can’t dislike Kirsten either, she is so sweet and I love her movies, specially Bring it On.

I think when they’re breaking up - in the non-audio part- the first thing Sadie says is “just say it.” I couldn’t figure it out after that haha.
@GilanaHealer2 жыл бұрын
I took me a bit but I was able to read her lips and she says, "That's it!?" like, "We're over just because you say so? You're just ending things with me that easily, just because of my age (supposedly)!?" He seemed to lord all the control in the relationship and not take her feelings into account at all, just cutting her off without discussion, like he'd already decided it and had basically gotten what he wanted from her and he was done. Makes you wonder did he even really care at all or was he jut telling her what she wanted to hear all along to string her along and to get what he wanted? That's the tactic of a lot of narcissists who only really care about what's in it for them and what makes them look good or boost their ego, and when you actually have needs and expect things from them, all of a sudden you are too much work or too needy. He just wanted to keep things casual, light, and without responsibilities. It fits his pattern of constantly choosing young and impressionable women who are awed by him that he can use and discard as he chooses. Very toxic and dysfunctional behavior.
