@@kagani6202 yeah but he only ever visited, plus it just seems oddly specific that Aang says he learned the slang from Kuzon and not that he learned it from visiting the fire nation. So I could totally see him convincing naive little Aang that "Hotman" and "Stay Flamin'" were proper ways of addressing people in the fire nation.

Funny you mention Foot Loose... Anyway, this episode is a reason why ATLA is so good. I mean, how many shows out there would go in the middle of enemy territory and show that the "enemies" are not at all bad but instead, are taught at a very young age to believe in something through an educational system full of propaganda. Keep in mind that this was aired in 2007 so not many shows, specifically children shows, went into such a topic.

I've always found it interesting that the fire Nation banned dancing. After all, firebending itself is based on a very special dance as we all know. !! Spoilers past this point !! I believe that Sozin understood the dragon's meaning of fire enough to know that it was in his way and contradicted him. In order to commit genocide, he had to abandon the idea that fire was life. Not only did this lead to the hunt of the dragons in order to eliminate that idea, it led to the banning of dancing in an attempt to erase it as well. Sozin was then able to reinforce the idea that firebending is based on aggression.
