Corkus Is a great character, I don’t care what anyone says, not the funniest, smartest or best fighter, but the realest of all the Hawk. He’s the closest to a regular dude like one of us probably are. He hits close to home the most.

I can't stand Corkus, but I second him being one of the most relatable characters. Dude really is just an average Joe who busted his ass for a cause. I’ve always felt that Guts must think about that tavern scene a lot. Corkus was right. He was always right. If Guts had never left then he’d have an amazing life with Casca (potentially) and the rest of the hawks. He had what he was looking for and walked away from it. He didn’t create Femto, but if he’d done 1 or 2 things differently, maybe they get out and retire before the eclipse even happens.

Everybody knows a Corkus. The dude is all doom and gloom at the slightest adversity. He lashes out and loses hope and bitches and moans about everything. His strength is derived from association and is thus fake. The scene wear he breaks his sword after Wyald dies shows his true character rolled up into a few panels. When Guts breaks his sword it was done by the enemy and he still fights more fierce than ever. Corkus actively breaks his own sword and gives up. He's not a bad dude, but is just weak. I was the guy spending five hours every day lifting weights by myself because I didn't have any other place I belonged or felt safe. When they'd try to mess with me, I'd do what I could to ignore them. But when push came to shove, they hauled ass and ran when up against someone stronger than them, usually after getting thrown around. Corkus reminds me of them thoroughly and it's why I could never stand that snide little son of a bitch.

What you explained in the video is the reason, I thinks, why Corkus was the first member of the band avenged by Guts at the start of the manga.. this represents a some kind of connection from us the readers and Berserk. the thing about corkus, is he's a realist, even when all the past insanity is happening, he's so horrified by it that he'd rather believe the naked demon lady in front of him is a real woman and just ignore the danger than try to face it, this isn't weakness, it's a self defense mechanism, that WE ALL HAVE, have you ever looked back on a time when you saw someone being bullied but you kept your nose down in school cuz you didnt' want to be the next target, or you kept moving because it's not your problem, or maybe you saw it but don't remember it, well that's called being a realist, you know if you say or do something your gonna be the focus of their ire from then on, happened to me, i saw a kid being bullied and, growing up on shows like DBZ and such, i stood up for him, and got myself beat to a pulp cuz i was weak and didn't know how to fight at the time, then came an entire four or five years of constant bullying where everyone around me would do NOTHING to help me, and where even those that considered me a friend would turn a bling eye, even the kid i helped, but i don't blame him or anyone cuz when your stacked against super scary odds it takes a lot to stand up to them, but it also takes a deep, painful, swallow of truth pill to admit your own limitations, like corkus, he knows what he's good at, and he's fine with it, sure he probably dreamed of ebing a great warrior at one time, but then eventually found he was better as the soldier, and his life was improving, regardless, so i don't see corkus as a dick or a bad dude, he's just a ralist who thinks guts is risking too much and since he's become a SUPER STABLE member of the hawk, evena captain, the idea of him all willy nilly leaving is honestly selfish, he's the leader of real men, he's a captain, that's not just a title, if your a leader in some field, you are expected to give time to train a replacement before leaving, guts just wanted to wander off, i know his intentions where good, but at the end of the day it's still selfish when your one of the major corner stones in a construct like the band of the hawk, so i completely understand and support corkus' anger towards guts for this, and i understand but don't support his general dislike of guts, because that comes from his own issues of having not rissen through the ranks while in the hawk and found a comfortable place only to find guts come in and in a few short years sail right past him, not to mention his first introduction to guts was him, justifiably killing one fo corkus' buddies, and trying to fight griffith who many of the hawk saw as a bit of a father figure, so yeah i love corkus he's one of my favorite characters and i'd have loved to seen a little more focus on him in the golden age, but it's fine
@you_disgust_meh8012 жыл бұрын
I shall always remember all of the band of the hawks members! Because Berserk is always my number one favourite anime, because it talks about how terrible the world is and I always love the band of the hawk members including Corkus even though he's a ass, but I did understand him why people don't like him, because it's a reminder of their flaws themselves, I always appreciate Corkus I will never forget him, because he reminds me of him, I also have flaws as well, but someday soon I'm going to learn about my flaws and I hope I'm gonna search for my own purpose on life, because I don't know if my journey to search to find who I am will ever happened, but thank you for making this video about Corkus❤️

Ironically, I feel that the whole badmouthing that Corkus did to Guts is probably why I kind of like him, not because he was looking down on him, but because he was basically keeping Guts grounded as well as motivating him to strive to become a better man, even if what Corkus wanted to do was just keep him in his place. Like if not for Corkus, maybe Guts would have felt like the Hawks weren't a real thing and that he had died when he got attacked by them after the Pazuso fight, seeing as the man had experienced reality to not be comfortable. As for the relateability, I can kind of see it: man had ambitions, but when someone with bigger aspirations came knocking on his door, he ended up just becoming a cog in the machine...and lived comfortably in said machine up until the betrayal by the King of Midland and his death at the hands of the succubus. He may not have achieved that many great deeds, but he lived a good life...and it does make me sad knowing he is gone.
