Oh yea I believe a lot of my success has come from me slowing down, ignoring people giving bad advice, and not overly rushing myself. It's helped me to make many smart decisions in life. I like to prepare first then take action. So I don't make as many mistakes. Because the second you make even a tiny mistake. Then here comes an army of people ready to tear you down and eat you alive. Nowadays its like people are not allowed to grow and learn from their mistakes anymore. You're expected to be perfect and do everything right (the first time) without fail all the time and know how to do everything. It's ridiculous.

Hey Mayuko! When I was 20 I worked helping this girl out with chronic fatigue. It was one of the wildest experiences to witness her, being somewhat self critical and overly-worried-about-accomplishing-things-person myself. She was about 28 and studying in a pretty tough university (for a dr or phd not sure), and was coming up the stairs and suddenly got really tired. She got diagnosed with chronic fatigue which half the doctors don't even think exists (but she literally lived in her house + on her block exclusively for 5 years). Her dad is a doctor and he boiled it down to over stressing her system for so many years in a row (Lyme and other related things don't exist in this part of the world). Basically, girl, she gave me a hell of a wake up call that if you run your body dry for too long it may over-power the system and go rest. She has been doing better though since! But it's def a slow grind. Getting accomplishments and the speed and accuracy of your work is relative to the environment you know. Add to that that we all have personal stressors that are hard to convey to people and relate to someone 100%. Just because you may be used to witnessing needing to do this/thinking it's not enough/feeling guilt - doesn't mean you have to. If you need more than 3 months, then take it to rest, your body may be telling you there is more rest needed after years of hard work. I think switching up locations and having a movement practice (like yoga with breathe work) can really help with that. If it's business related though and getting into motivation for working not having a boss, maybe getting a manager would help with that. Just my thoughts, feel better soon! Plus, love your channel always

Good advice! Sometimes that go-go-go attitude can be great for getting a lot done, but after a while that relentless schedule becomes your norm and you begin to want more, even when you're already giving it everything you've got.

Thanks for sharing this mayuko. As somone who used to be in that "hustle" mindset a while back, it's reassuring to hear other people struggling to slow down. It's tough, but just like what you said, there's a lot of behind the scenes stuff that we don't see but are contributing to our growth. Here's to more moments of waiting and slowing down!

6:00 - 6:30 I've been feeling blah about life in general for 4 years. Not just schoolwork. since I'm seeking my second degree I wanted to rush. yet, setting my speed too high didn't yield anything good. recently, I've been taking one at a time, including movies, books, courses. I felt accomplished one after another. sometimes, comfortable pace is the right medicine.

I’m on the same boat right now. So I could really relate to this video. I’m been doing everything I can and doing my best and now I need to give myself space to just be and surrender. I’m confident that my time will come to see the fruit of my hard work. I’m job hunting right now and have gone through about 15 interviews, multiple rejections, spent hours submitting applications and I know the job offer is just around the corner!

I relate to things you say sooo much, its scary and funny at the same time. Going through this period for a while now, and I still feel afraid to sit back and take it slow. But I try. So far, its going alright, and, surprisingly, world is not falling apart. Personal tip: picking up a hobby, lets say painting, and going to therapy really helps. Even if you suck at that hobby :D just lower the expectations

I’ve been reading Atomic Habits and it finally clicked when he said small habits don’t show impressive results at first, but incrementally, we’re able to build on our growth over time- this is really similar to your roots analogy about small growths under the surface. It’s true with coding skills and personal development too. Sometimes I’m exasperated that I’m not where I’d like to be, but I’m at a much better place than a year ago, and far more than 2 years ago in my personal growth. And I know that’s going to help interpersonal skills in my professional life too, as a bonus 😁

Really needed that video right now. Just changed my employee and the pressure I put on myself is immense. My mind keeps telling me I need to be as productive as possible and every small bump on the road is destroying my momentum and self worth. I need to repeat to myself over and over that it's ok to fail. And that if this means I'm taking a slower pace to the goal, it's going to be fine.

Definitely something I've struggled with in the past. I used to be super work-focused, always felt the need to be productive and that relaxing was a waste of time. It took me a long time that relaxing is important to give you the energy to work on what you want with full motivation. Really liked that idea about how progress can sometimes be in your subconscious. Your brain is often working on things in the background, and learning comes in so many different forms including your regular day-to-day interactions with people or reading content online. Hustle culture is pretty damaging and really stops people from finding a healthy balance of work and rest in their lives.

Thank you for this! Cheered me right up because it's true. You'll be okay. We all will be. I think this is just an inner reaction to getting out of the proverbial hamster wheel/ rat race. Everyone who tries to shift their main focus/perspective from achievement (e.g. Career goals and timelines) to living life (e.g. Being healthy, happy and sound-minded), experiences it. 🙂

How to Do Nothing by Jenny Odell is such a good book on this topic: One additional thing she talks about is how we have gotten to a point (as a society) where rest and doing nothing only makes sense in the context of wanting to be more productive after, and that rest for its sake has become somewhat alien. I also recommend On Doing Nothing by Roman Muradov which is a short, more practical guide

I feel like people say money isn't everything. But the truth is only rich kids say that, when you come from nothing all that matters is money or wealth. It can give you security, good food, a good place to live and opportunities. The world is unfair. So you have to be ruthless to get your place in it. I mean yeah, I'm a good guy. I will earn through legit ways and I'm ready to be that monster if I need to be. I think college is a waste of time, money and energy ( being from an asian family, they do everything for us and put all their expectations on us and at last they think we owe them everything. They controlled my life so much and I'm fed up with this shit. All I wanted was to be a graphic designer, but I can't. With this i5 Windows f***ng thing. All I asked for a macbook pro and i would never ask them for anything. Like hell, they even demanded to get me 9.5 CGPA and i did. But no. Bunch of f***ing liars )

So, lads, just go on. F**k your parents. If you have good parents and they support you in your journey ( like if they are emotionally involved and feel about your dreams ) then you're one of the few lucky ones and I'm jealous of you. But, those who aren't. Life gon be rough and please even if you love your parents, start to first think about yourself cuz one day, they will die. And one day you will die. Only you will be there to know what dreams you had that were unfulfilled. I feel sorry I was born in this family.
