Milestone should just add the classic maps from the original HWU, to this game. Also, because the online is not as strong as the 1st game, I would recommend putting the CPU on Hard or Extreme for the best experience.

I hate that my pessimism was spot on. The second game launched with improvements to the first, but with many downsides as well, while inheriting many of the issues. I knew they wouldn't stick to it, because if they had any integrity they would have stuck with the first one and improved that instead, so no surprise that they supported this one even less. The community is the only reason the second game was worth playing at all. I still haven't finished the "campaign" and have zero interest in random online races with the two other players. Maybe in another 10 years or so, a competent team will get the IP to do magic with. The video games got me into the hobby, and I hope kids in the future will get to experience that as well.

I am sad but not mad at Milestone since I think they did a great job on this 2nd installment of HWU! They provided us with awesome cars, great tracks, fun mechanics and frequent dlcs and updates/fixes! Also I thank the community and real HW games fans who kept this game alive! I blame the hate of ordinary players for the flop!

Such a shame that it came to this. I won’t buy another game by Milestone. Its clear their strategy is to make the game, pump out DLC to make money. Provide almost no support, and abandon as soon as possible. This game received “support” for 9 months. What an absolute shame. Im here for the community and will continue to be, but its disappointing to end this way.

Blame Mattel Inc or something, I’ve been finding out that Mattel Inc had limit milestone about creativity to put something new and amazing. Unleashed was supposed to be not only being an arcade racer, it’s also part of a advertising campaign to advertise the actual toys. Which I completely find it 100% bogus.

Just got the game yesterday to play with my little one. It’s bittersweet discovering a HotWheels game on sale for $9.99 getting it and the next day learning here how it’s a dead game after only a year. But I guess it comes down to budget and marketing vs the developers. Opening it up to mods would’ve been sweet.

The first game sold really well and they supported it very poorly, not surprising at all this game got treated as bad honestly. What's hurting the game the most is not being able to mod it, the terribly low track budget hurts the longevity more than anything.

So, that's it? Not even bringing back the old "Unrestained Speed upgrade"? We will just have to deal with having another handling upgrade instead of a proper speed one? Honestly, for being the laat update, this is really disappointing. What i'm afraid of is that companies will see this game and take notes on what not to do. Unleashed 1 and 2 could be the games that saved arcade racing games, but because of how unsuccessful they were, i guess we're going to be stuck here for a while. My only hope right now is for an unleashed 3 or for mods to make the game better, but both options seem to be imposible.

Wait, wasn't there supposed to be more DLC coming for it? I could've sworn that one of the cars listed in a leak was the original Splittin' Image, which we obviously never got. I guess they pulled the plug on this game earlier than they were supposed to, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It's even less surprising that the Steam Summer Sale ended just a few days ago with still almost no people buying it, (Myself included) and the few who did are usually giving it negative reviews, so I don't think this was a coincidence. They just simply gave up. I think the worst part of all this though is that since the sales for this game were abysmal, I honestly don't think we will ever see a third game. It's a shame because the ideas and roster for the third title could've been even greater, but leave it to Milestone for having marketing incompetence, will block you for criticism, and iirc I think someone even said that one or two of the developers were outed as pedophiles, which they only left after awhile because they were "forced" to by the community. I have no idea what is going on with all of that or what the full context is, but it genuinely sounds like they are full of terrible people, so as much as it pains me to say it, I *don't even want* someone like Mattel to let them touch the Hot Wheels IP for a new game ever again. I think the best case scenario would be to make a new fan game based on those two and make new realistic diecast cars, tracks, etc. ourselves, but that's very wishful thinking since there would likely still never be enough demand for such a thing and that it would obviously take way too much work for just a small group of people, let alone ones who would have to be doing it all for free and only in their spare time. Lets be honest here, Unleashed 1 came out at a perfect time and under perfect circumstances. There hasn't been a proper Hot Wheels game in over a decade by that point and for most people it was a novel idea. It was also a part of something else we don't see much of otherwise anymore called the arcade racer too. By the end of its lifecycle though over 90% of players have already jumped ship, and things like those limited time seasonal events certainly didn't help. Unleashed 2 was already doomed from the start with literally everything surrounding it: Released soon after the first with not much of a big difference, announced around the same exact time as much more anticipated games, the lack of having any novelty anymore, advertising was basically non-existent, and most people paying attention to Milestone never being so fond of them to begin with. Another tragedy about all of this is in regards to Acceleracers and other classic cars from that era. I'm fully convinced Mattel is trying to sabotage their own profits for Acceleracers content like Lego has been doing for Bionicle. First they give us useless NFTs absolutely no one has asked for, then they name drop it in some other places where it doesn't belong like it's a joke, and now they released a ton of DLC for this game that most likely absolutely no one will ever buy outside of diehard fans that just happened to hear about it, which again is not many. I'm not upset that they're giving us Acceleracers content, I'm upset that they're giving us said content in some of the worst possible situations possible. If something like this happened for the first game then it might've been a different story, but they held out on it by giving us only a few and the bare minimum, since the models they gave us with that game are all still in production in general. And they could've had it all too, they basically had the rights to all car dealerships they still make toys with so they absolutely could've given us every single World Race and Acceleracers car if they wanted to, and the World Race McDonald's cars, and the rest of the World Race game car models, or heck they even could've done something interesting by giving us all of the unreleased diecasts of the planned season 2 cars since we got stuff like Prototype Beach Bomb since there was a lot of those. Imagine being able to play with cars like Titanium, "Teku7", Nightlife, etc. etc. and seeing their accurate diecast toy forms very clearly for the first time, it would've been *legendary.* All I can see out if these two games now in retrospect is lost and wasted potential. They could've been so much more. Wheel swaps, weather effects, a trick system, more unique environments including biomes and realms, a weapon system like the Velocity X games, more crossovers with stuff like Speed Racer, and even having a crap ton more cars could've helped a long way since there are literally thousands of individual models out there, *thousands.* Am I saying any of that is realistic for a licensed game promoting their modern toy cars? Absolutely not, but if they did, it not only could've solved the itch for most people in regards to car collecting, but also could've been one of the best arcade racers of all time under the right people. It's ambitious for sure, and there's no way someone like me would ever be able to do it, but after waiting over a decade for the next Hot Wheels game we should be wanting to get something much better to fit our more optimistic expectations. It's sad, but in retrospect I can honestly say that what we got with Unleashed 1 was brutally generic. I miss the days when racing game franchises like Burnout and Need For Speed were common and always strived to be something more with each entry. It was chaos, but it was pure fun. I wanted something similar for Hot Wheels, and even with Unleashed 2 this just ain't it… Oh well, that's just what we can always expect out of todays gaming landscape in regards to bigger publishers and licensed IPs. Stuff like this is exactly why I try to solely stick to indie games now whenever I can unless they are on great deals or re-releases of older games, lest you try to grow too attached to others for some inevitable abandonment and disappointment. It's simply better to just look back at the good old days when games would always be released as complete games rather than to expect anything good to come out of more modern games today unfortunately, even if it has to mean emulation and pirating thanks to even less options being out there for us to legitimately purchase many of said games. Until something insane happens under a more trusted and dedicated development team with a bigger budget, (Which will never happen) I'll just have to keep dreaming.

Man, I never picked up this game and only played the 1st one for free from getting a code in ps4. Sad to say, I wasn't as interested in the game after hearing the negatives about it. Been playing the other Arcade Racer Disney Speedstorm and currently its now on mobile. Except Gameloft tends to undo some things in there but I do what I can while having almost all the characters in my roster.
