People in Hollywoke should understand that when the "product" or "service" you offer as a way of making a livelihood is something nobody NEEDS, and you have worked so hard on making it something nobody WANTS, you simply DON'T STRIKE, because, nobody cares you've stopped offering your "product" or "service". As hard as it is being a CG artist that worked on Star Wars projects and now having been unemployed for almost a year and moving back with family, I have to agree that this is necessary to hopefully have art made again. I went into the industry wanting to create films that audiences can resonate with and find meaning in. But every project I worked on I hated and completely lost my passion. Now that I’ve had the time to work on my own stuff, I have gained my passion again and have been looking into different avenues to share my work. The problem with the shit studios have been making is that they don’t give people with talent creative say so. I knew so many incredibly talented story tellers and artists that weren’t given opportunities to tell them because it didn’t meet the agenda. Or they weren’t considered diverse enough. Although I’m struggling now, I have hope that maybe this’ll give us artists a chance to take up the mantle of making stories that are worth a damn. And if it takes destroying Hollywood to get rid of the woke culture that destroyed it, So be it!

I was talking with my mom the other day and she knows I keep up to date with hollywood news so she asked me if the writers were still striking. I said they were and said I thought it would be a while before the writers and actors finally gave in and tried to make a reasonable deal. She was surprised to learn the actors had been striking for the past 2 months. That shows you how little the average person knows or cares about this. And we live in California. I can't imagine how little people in the midwest care

Hollywood eIitists only give a damn when it affects them personally. The Ieftists in general only give a damn when it affects them personally, like the southern border for example. When iIIegaIs started streaming into our southern states, we were called every pejorative in the Ieftist playbook. Yet when _their_ cities started to become inundated with the foreigners, all of a sudden they have a “not in my backyard” attitude. During the 2007-2008 strike, I was annoyed because of the impact it was having on my favorite shows. A lot of us were. Which was good for the writers since that gave them leverage. Now here we are 15 years later and it seems that roughly 2/3rds of the customer base couldn't give two $#!%s about any of the shows affected because of how thoroughly they've been destroyed by woke ideology run rampant among those same writers. Simply put, writers had clout 15 years ago. Now, thanks primarily to their alienating their paying customers over nearly a decade by way of shaming and pushing woke social agendas, they have nearly zero sympathy from the public. Add in the threat of rapidly developing AI and you can see how this will not go well for the writers and actors that have been $#!%ing all over their customers for the past 10 years. This is the inevitable result of continually pissing on your customers and then shaming them for not believing it to be righteous rain. This isn't "karma". This is literally the definition of reaping what you sow. Welcome to your slide into ruin, Hollywood. You have no one to blame but yourselves for letting social politics destroy you from the inside out.

Gary, I worked in the entertainment industry for over thirty years. Two thirds of that time in regional theater around the country and one third of the time in Hollywood below the line building movie scenery. I was a proud member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 44 (prop makers) in LA, Local 15 (stage hands) in Seattle, and local 488 (film production) in Seattle. I retired from the business around eighteen years ago and the only thing I really miss about the biz are the people I worked with, I don’t miss the long hours. I don’t regret the years I spent working in the industry even though it nearly ruined my marriage, which has survived because I retired from the biz. The people I feel for are the below the line folks, the usually unmentioned artisans working the incredibly long hours under often shitty conditions so a handful of privileged people can get paid a lot of money to pretend. Fortunately for all the prop makers, grips, costumers, lighting folks, they have skills that can help them make ends meet while those that are asking for hand outs don’t seem to understand that it isn’t really about them at all. The great thing about all of the I.A. Locals that I worked out of was if you didn’t show up for work on time and didn’t do your job you would get bounced out the door and replaced. “Dirty hands, Clean money!” Keep up the good work and calling out the bullshit.

To be fair, most actors are not 'woke'. It's the Producers and Casting Directors who screen actors and if they don't meet certain criteria or answer the questions the right way, are not given jobs. Many actors have complained annonomously that they have to lie and claim to hold liberal beliefs about their politics, LGTBBQ+, and what ills society. Sure there are a few well-know A-List actors who are outspoken on their views, but we can't hold all actors in contempt for a small minority of the outspoken elite. Screenwriters want better pay and benefits. Concidering where they have to live and what they are being paid, especially as studios look into replacing them with AI, I can understand that arguement. With actors, it makes sense that the background actors are upset that the studios have clauses that say they can get a scan of the actors' bodies and sample of their voices, and can use their likeness forever. Studios then never have to employ them again or pay them for use of their likeness once they pay that person the couple hundred dollars so they can scan them in. From a studio POV, having scans of real people you can use over and over and not have to pay means that is one thing they no longer have to worry about when making movies, so yeah, they see it as a way to cut down costs. From a actor's POV, they are getting screwed. Why would anyone want to hire them once their image is scanned in? How could they move from a bit roles into a breakout role if the studios don't offer them a chance with bit parts? As someone who isn't an actor and has no care to be one, I'd be happy to get scanned in, take the free money and go about doing my regular 9-5. If I happen to show up in the background of a movie or TV show, I'd smile and be pretty happy just to see my likeness there. I can understand from the actor who makes a living as a bit actor, how they see this as killing their jobs. Those are about the only arguments that I can side with the writers and actors on.

The woke are created in the colleges, the woke creep into all types of institutions through HR departments and marketing. So no way in hell is this war on the woke over. Far far from it. My family and I went to the movies practically every month during my childhood. My dad worked long hours and taking us to the movies was a way for him to entertain us and catch a nap in the dark theater while my mom got a few hours to herself. Dad almost always fell asleep in the movie theater once the lights went down. I remember seeing films like the original Jumanji, Mighty Ducks, Heavyweights, Iron Will, etc. I didn't need to be represented on screen to identify with the characters. I enjoyed the stories. There were timeless life lessons. I bought the posters, the action figures, the t-shirts, the merchandise from Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, The Simpsons, Beavis and Butthead, and plenty of DC and MCU movies. And then I grew up. I watched circa ~2014 as Hollywood and entertainment changed. Politics and forced behavior messaging became the norm. Caucasian characters were now often the villain, or they were weak, broken, or dead, while nonwhite characters were morally virtuous, powerful, and so on. There was always something "woke" and political. It became cringe. Women could no longer be sexy. They had to be as tough and strong as men. 2016 accelerated this change and 2020 put it into hyperdrive. I rarely go to the movies now aside from Tom Cruise films. I don't want much streaming anymore aside from a few programs. Star Wars and Star Trek are dead to me. I didn't bother with the LOTR Amazon series. If tomorrow streaming services were consolidated and reduced, I wouldn't care. I don't buy any more merchandise, t-shirts, posters or action figures. I don't care if Hollywood itself implodes and all these people never work again. That's what you've done to me, you woke writers, you activist actors, you greedy virtual signaling studios. Honestly I think you just have to not care so much about political agendas in your life. imo it's not as bad as people make it out to be, but since you're obsessing over political differences, you're going to look for it more in the things you consume. There are tons of great movies still (to be fair idk your movie taste). I try to catch a movie every other weekend and Oppenheimer, Guardians of the Galaxy, Talk To Me, Theater Camp, Spiderman Across the Spiderverse, No Hard Feelings, Past Lives, and The Whale are all movies I really enjoyed watching in the theaters this year. Maybe there's going to be those movies that have political agendas once in a while but I don't think that should stop you from enjoying movies like you did when you were a kid 🙂 There are still amazing movies out there, just don't obsess so much over politics. I know it's hard since it's all over social media, but everything's not as bad as people make it to be. Just stop caring about that bullshit 🤷‍♂️

The bizarre thing about the strike is that it was mostly anti AI. If you're so terrified that an AI can do your job BETTER than you, then that AI deserves that job, & YOU deserve to be FIRED. Besides, I'm against the very CONCEPT of unions. If you SUCK at your job unless you're in a union, then you will SUCK at your job if you're IN a union too. Being in a union does NOT make you great at your job.

Damn right! We are sick to death of having this leftist agenda thrust down our gullets, when all we wanted was a couple of hours escapism. That series ‘The Last of Us’ attracted me for it special effects. It is a futuristic thriller/zombie movie… 6 or 7 episodes two of which were totally given over to incongruous gay hook ups. I’m not anti gay, but come on… it’s a zombie series ffs. …. The Sound of Freedom was an independent film… look what they tried to do about that. Trump should set up a studio for MAGA-loving film-makers.

@@Threemore650 The Last Of Us really ticked me off, because Bill in the original game is actually a badass who helps Joel and Ellie through the city. The Left Behind DLC (Ellie's girlfriend) part was accurate but a full episode was just padding and pretentious/preachy. The forced politics in that show deleted epic/horrifying moments from the game which would've made for excellent television and thrills. But the annoying agenda was more important apparently 🤷‍♂️

Social media and mainstream news partially responsible for the wokeism to grow like this, especially the recommender system. Social media only show us what the current trend is and what we watch most often for recommendation, without trying to offer a small sample of alternatives. And mainstream news just like to add fuel to the fire for their own profit. That's why a lot of people think that supporting wokeism is at least politically correct, even if behind closed door they actually disagree. So, yeah, you're not alone.

@@Spectification Don't go trotting out the 'without the unions' bullshit. The unions of today are not the unions of yesterday. They're not fighting for worker rights, they're leeching as much as they can from businesses until the point where they destroy the company and all the people they supposedly represent are unemployed. United Auto Workers is a superb example. The unions are run by the same kind of corporate parasites that infest banking and every other industry - these are swine that care about nothing beyond the short-term gains they can put in their own pockets. I've seen first-hand some of the fiscally responsible attitudes of union officers, like sending the wife for weekend trips to Las Vegas all on the back of member dues. Unions used to be about the worker, now they're just another layer of worker exploitation.

Disney has made a profit only because the strike reduced costs. New content has still been "dropped" on streaming channels--Netflix & Paramount+. As long as customers still pay a subscription for these channels, the studios bring in a profit. And as you mentioned, there is a large library of classics they can roll through. The customer AND the studios won't "suffer" from the strike for month & months more. While the workers suffered immediately. Pretty sure UAW employees get 70% of their pay when they are on strike. Plus the manufacturer feels an immediate impact from product not being made.
