THOSE are the writers who need justice, not the barely literate activists who make trash on demand. They’re upset now because the trash companies that demand the trash found money saving loopholes where they only need these trash writers for a little bit, then replace them. Keeping the same writers through the whole show production means nothing if what those writers made was irredeemable garbage.

This is why I made a video on December 16, 2023 commending Zootopia and Encanto for being successful and creative animated Disney films that are less than 10 years old. To prove that creative writers and directors still exist in today's Hollywood can write stories without being forced to make them diverse and politically correct - even in regards to new Disney content! You can not define the whole of Disney by its woke failures.

Many years ago, I got sick of movies & TV and only watched an occasional one I found interesting. It's even worse in recent years. At the same time, I had been gaming on the PC for ages and, mixed with doing a lot of my jobs on computers, would get regularly burned out staring at screens anyway. So I started going back to tabletop gaming as a past-time hobby about a decade ago. Going back to a tactile analog experience, so to speak. Seems like I exercise my brain in different ways, especially with big comlicated ones. Fortunately there have been tons of solitaire and co-operative ones coming out for years so I also don't have to limit them to scheduling with friends, although that's just another added facet. The gamer version of turning off the TV and reading a book.

And then I’m also reminded that the current shows that are out there such as Rings of Power, Willow, The Wheel of Time, Star Wars, Star Trek Discovery, Celopatra, etc. etc. are both actively insulting the viewer’s intelligence and antagonizing their customer’s for calling out the garbage that they are. Fucking hell. Please bring back intelligent entertainment! I need a 4h season. Oh and I’m completely fine with the rest of Hollywood continuing to strike until the day Hell freezes over!

I used to be put off too by the appearance of and constant re-runs of 'old' shows (and there are terrible ones too, let's be honest - cult classic though it is, something like The Dukes of Hazzard isn't going to win a lot of writing contests, same with a tonne of old Western movies) but there is some real quality and class stuff from the past 90-something years.

I actually liked katness everdene in hungergames and jennifer lawrence was great in passenger.elizabeth swan in pirates evolved really well from pirates of the carabeian 1 to 3. Hermione granger from harry potter. Plenty of examples in cartoons and anime like kim possible. Your 2 examples are likely the most famous female protagonists and both are damn good characters. As long as the writing is strong and the arc is consistant then they can work just as well as a male protagonist.

Of course neither characters of Ripley or Sarah were superheros There's a definite suspension of belief required to watch the superhero genre and when it comes to female "superheros" their plausibility goes to less than zero. There is nothing remotely resembling them in the actual real world. At least with men there are real men that have done incredible things that border into near superhero status. Think about Rudder's Rangers that scaled those impossible cliffs at Pointe du Hoc to knock out the Reich's big guns overlooking the ocean as part of the D Day assault. There are a lot of such heroic deeds accomplished by men that on examination come close to looking like feats of impossibility, but they actually happened. Women heroes are heroic in a different manner - but those bear no resemblance to the Woke political fabrications of Hollyweird. One of the sad things about Woke feminism is where it attempts to hoodwink women into thinking they need to be like men in all respects - which the obvious implication of Woke feminism therefore is its covert view that there is something inherently inferior about being female vs male. Hence all the false projection. So sad. So sad.

"Because they're screwing someone over, somewhere." Hell that crap has been going on for a century. There was some actor in the 50s who had a direct interest in the revenues for a very popular TV series of the time he was in, yet never received a penny because of production "expenses". This is why so many contracts, today, are based off gross, not net.

All the costume designers, cameramen, makeup artists, etc etc are gonna be hurt by the egos of some screen hogs and idiot executives/producers, and a seeming insistence on bad writing. Very uncool. 😿 It's like how game developers are blamed for games coming out bad unfailingly; Like sure there are lazy and incompetent devs but sometimes these decisions are top down, and rushed to all hell. Luckily the publishers get most of the heat at the end of the day but, the people on the ground scrambling to actually make gold out of shit, are the ones who suffer most.

I do not. Hollywood has had a stranglehold on "culture" for over 70 years. They ceaselessly promote political and social propaganda. Television tells you what WARS to care about, for example - did you know the US is still at war in Syria? How about Yemen? Out of sight out of mind. The have been pushing social attitudes for at least 50 years. It completely distorts and perverts perception. I can tell if somebody watches television merely by how they act, and what social attitudes they've adopted. I used to be a movie buff, but typically those were weird, different, esoteric films generally, but even in those now I see agendas being pushed. I have grown to hate it. Nothing is worthwhile.

We should take a moment to reflect on the origins of Hollywood. It emerged from the era of vaudeville when traveling groups roamed the country, performing to earn enough money for survival and sometimes exchanging entertainment for essential goods. While there were established theater groups that were well-known and traveled extensively, the majority of performers were often individuals in dire financial circumstances, willing to adopt exaggerated characters to amuse the audience and secure their livelihood. As time passed, film and television evolved, bringing together societies worldwide through shared entertainment. Whether it was meeting a stranger at an event, airport, bus station, or even in the military, people could find common ground in discussing favorite actors, such as aspiring to be as brave as the Lone Ranger or as charismatic as Clark Gable. These discussions were rarely seen as political; rather, they offered an escape from the hardships of life, turning the pages of novels into vivid on-screen experiences. News outlets highlighted the lives of these actors, portraying them as almost god-like figures or icons who seemed larger than life. However, over time, it became increasingly challenging to hide the flaws and imperfections of these individuals. Occasional scandals, substance abuse, affairs, and other crimes shed light on the reality that they were just human beings, often grappling with the pressures of fame and making extreme life choices. Unfortunately, a trend emerged in the form of reality shows that exposed some celebrities' strange values and behaviors. This glorification of fame and wealth began to influence young people, who saw such behavior as their life goals, emulating the excessive lifestyle of celebrities. The idea of feeling superior and special due to fame became deeply ingrained across generations. Consequently, some celebrities began using their fame to exert unwarranted influence, and their actions, no matter how harmful or extreme, were supported and even promoted in trending circles. This shift deviated from the core purpose of entertainment - to provide joy and an escape from hardships for people living difficult lives. As we ponder the future of Hollywood, we may witness a process of transformation to maintain power and profitability. The addiction to the allure of fame and influence, much like Gollum's obsession with the "Precious" in Lord of the Rings, will not fade easily. In the midst of their own downfall, we can anticipate more drama, more extreme measures taken to preserve their position. Yet, this may not lead to a "happily ever after" ending. When the credits finally roll, we might observe a list filled with diversity hires and individuals focused on matters like pronouns, often overshadowing the essence of true entertainment. Ultimately, the real story of Hollywood's fate remains to be seen, but it is clear that significant changes and challenges lie ahead for the industry.
