All this can be prevented by sitting down with your kid and explaining why you shouldn't do these things and how dangerous they can be, and by taking responsibility by keeping harmful consumables or dangerous objects away from kids, and if they need to be locked up, keeping them in a secure case and the key well hidden. To some degree the government should be involved. For example they should have a law that forces companies to add or improve parental controls or something. Or advertise that they even exist because many parents aren’t aware of parental controls.

"and watch the content that they consume on a regular basis", A lot of kids are gonna be disowned if parents actually did this.

This law just makes things so much more harder then it needs to be. Parents should simply monitor their children and understand that the internet is not for children, and they are still responsible for whatever they find on it.

You want kids to be safe online? How about you start taking the age restrictions more seriously! If you think games like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto are bad for little Timmy then DONT LET THEM HAVE IT!

The government doesn’t know that 2+2=4 sooooo…. But the simplest answer is to not give kids technology, until they are mature. It worked for me I didn’t get a phone or Xbox until I was a freshman in high school… ( 5 years ago) all I had was an iPod shuffle and ps2… and my parents didn’t even buy my phone either LOLz.

9:44 That's the argument I always used to make, that parents should parent their kids. The problem is that a lot of parents _can't_ parent their kids because they're wasting all their time trying to make enough money to support their kids. It's hard to properly parent a kid when you're spending 12-16 hours a day at work and running errands and doing chores and stuff and need to sleep 5-6 hours a night; there just isn't much time left. And again, I used to be staunchly of the opinion that if you can't support your kid, you shouldn't have them, and I still think that, but at the same time, the alternative means that only rich people are allowed to have kids, 95% of the world is denied the ability to have fundamental aspect of life. Moreover, the kinds of people who get really rich are not very good people, so if they're the only ones passing on their genes… 😒

kids (especialy the ones that elsa x spider-man videos of old would try to appeal to) should not have free access to the internet. there are parental controls on both the internet service provider and the device itself. You don't even have to parent to solve this problem, you just have to go on your phone and click a few buttons.

You know what could fix most of this entire issue, teaching parents how to white list devices. With how prevalent computers and the internet is you might think their should be a general school class addressing computer security and basic function
