I’m in my 60’s and I am having the best relationship of my life. I learned during my marriage to my ex-husband for 33 years that at the end what brought me joy in the relationship was to have my own bedroom. Unfortunately, that relationship didn’t last but I incorporated that finding into my new relationship. Me and my partner have been happily together for seven years now and we each live in our own tiny houses very close to each other. We see each other almost every day, eat together, but then he goes home or I go home to my own private sanctuary. I love him a lot, but I love me more! Our friends and family and society at large think that we are crazy but like Teal says, we should be doing what works! I always say, to each their own.❤

@@jessicawildroselandry8749living in separate spaces solves many of the issues that are happening in society today. I think any guy who wouldn't accept his partner to live in a separate space has trust issues, or is insecure, or wants to control something. Allowing partner to have their own life and space and then they choose to be with me is somehow really gratifying ( for me). I had to learn that tho. Over time. I didn't always think that.

When I was a child I always thought I'd have a relationship like my mom and dad did. But the older I grew the more I realized how different we all are and every relationship is so unique. But this comment is to give praise to my dad for being such a caring and loving father and husband. Because my dear mother, God rest her soul, was diagnosed with kidney failure a year after I was born and she had to go on a dialysis machine three days a week for near twenty years. But my Father stood by her all that length of time. For he used to do all the cleaning and cooking at home for us and he used to bring my mother up her changes of clothes, pajamas and fruit whilst she was in the hospital; as well as hold down a job too. Whereas other men might have found it too difficult to deal with and maybe they would have left them in the lurch or even divorced them. Albeit my mom was so lucky to have met a man who truly cared and loved her till the end. She died at the young age of 52. He has inspired me to be like him, and I'd do the very same for the woman and family I loved.

I think because people are afraid of telling the truth which means they could 1. Lose the other person or 2. They are incapable of facing themselves. The problem I'm finding is that there are too many relationship paradigms, not that people are stuck in any. Nowadays everyone has different expectations for how a relationship is supposed to work and it takes forever to figure out what they believe, especially when there is no fundamental basis for their beliefs that you can ascertain. And even if they say they believe something, their actions betray their words. They have no clue, they are a walking contradiction.

I'm with ya Teal. Relationships should be more dynamic. There is no one-size-fits-all relationship. I'm a married man. But luckily this suits me. I have few friends but the friends I have I have known for decades and I love them dearly. What I'm trying to say is that even when I was a child my relationship style was monogamous. Lucky me. But for many people out there this particular shoe does not fit. And they have never been told otherwise. There are a-great-many other shoes, and none are better than the next, just different.

A lot of ppl don’t know what a relationship is because they came from a broken home, lies, social media, etc. I agree with her Depending on the state you live in, you have to make a certain amount of money to live comfortably. So not every man will make 6 figures and a woman can’t be a stay at home wife. The cost of living is so damn expensive that a haircut alone is over $20. Insane yes. Some ppl should stop believing everything they hear. Sit back and observe. Take your time. It’s like, you’re a coach that says I want to win the superbowl in 2 years. Yet you have 2 wins and 30 loses😂. Time to change that game strategy. Possibly your coaching

To someone that could be going through a rough patch in their relationship or is in a very vulnerable position, this sounds like just give up. Just give up and go chase whatever bodily desires you have. There’s a reason relationships are failing, and it’s not because we’re trying to fit into a mold we can’t fit into. There’s a reason Father Mother Child holds so much security. We are not animals. Do not confuse your intuition with your animalistic impulses. If you keep running to the next person, you’ll never be satisfied.

I had bought this paradigm of "not one person can meet your needs" and thought open relationship is the way. I have came to realize I don't want any of this anymore. I rather be single than in open relationship. Teal's video is almost saying to me that I made a mistake with this lose-lose situation. But I cannot do anything else. Personally, I think it is perfectly fine to want a romantic monogamous commitment. To me, I feel like establishing this boundary stems from knowing your self worth and knowing your value/what you deserve and how you deserve to be treated and respected. It stems from self love. Deep down, I believe that is what the majority of human beings want. I believe we settle due to wounding, being let down so many times, or low self esteem so we accept fractions, slices, and crumbs of the pie when we deserve the whole pie. Then the outward relationship paradigm switches to not believing in monogamy which is a reflection and mirroring of internal fear. I think marriage or some form of commitment and the security of being intimate and close/vulnerable to one partner and creating a family together (even if just the two partners) is a beautiful thing. Of course, nothing is guaranteed to be secure but we have to go into it believing the best and knowing we can handle picking up the broken pieces if it doesn't work or falls apart. I do love this because Teal is basically saying to each their own which is beautiful as well. In the end, we all just have to find our "soul tribe" and match with those who want the same things and have similar beliefs when it comes to relationships.

I don’t think that throwing old relationship paradigms out the window is the answer. Instead, we should try to do them much better. Why? The old ways worked much better, for the most part, than what we are doing now in society. Sure people can form whatever relationship arrangements with willing partners that they want, however that does not mean that society will function in a way that keeps the human story going in a sustainable way. I love you, Teal! I've been watching your video's every Saturday for years. However, there came a point about a year ago that your content became more basic and less deep/ insightful. For example, what I got from this video is that it's ok to have different types of relationships that are outside the norm. I think we know this already. Your older videos have helped me grow so freaking much! and I know you are literally a genius! So I hope you go back to making videos about our subconscious, traumas, how to deal with conflict, and all the real juicy info you know that can create more meaningful lives.

Hello Teal, thank you for this amazing video - insightful as always! I was wondering if you could cover the topic of endometriosis in one of your future videos. It is widely spread amongst women, but unfortunately not explored well enough on the scientific and medical side yet. Women don't know how to help themselves, the birth control pill seems to be the only "remedy" so far. What is your take on this, from a spiritual perspective as well? Greetings from Germany ❤

Mexico now has two choices for those getting married: (1) traditional marriage ("until death"); or (2) renewable 3-year marriage contracts - husband and wife must both agree to renew, or it ends. Option #1 guarantees failure and destructive relationship ending for almost everyone. Option #2 mostly avoids these terrible results. Time for U.S. for do the same.

The relationship paradigm has never changed, people have made monogamous partnerships since basically we were cavemen. It’s only now in todays society that people are living alternative lifestyles. This could be seen as an improvement, perhaps we are finally evolving but it seems more we are trying to create a lifestyle that caters to pleasure, coping strategies or what feels easy but we all know easy doesn’t = meaningful. There is also this odd opinion now that all people mainly women of the past surely must have been miserable but it’s not the case, I’ve from an Italian family and women are very highly regarded and many of them love their traditional roles they had. Sure anyone should do what they want but they should also deal with their shadow aspects as well.

The degree of effort to be honest is a challenge. Many people hope that their issues will be overlooked. Some issues do cause discomfort...are obstacles to considering simple common sense. How can u keep tripping over a bunch of shoes? This is like emotions. There s one main feeling..And a few related neighboring feelings. It can seem there is a limit...or fear to step beyond the regular pattern. I cant sit and do repeating cycles like this. I make myself go interact with a variety of people. Its a way to not enter with preconceived ideas "how one should be speaking...what the "acceptable" wording is..i like to cut past the formal polite manners...ask if they ve felt bliss...or been really intense about something. I am not scared to say what the experience of the day was...there are dynamics happening all the time. I wonder how people can tend to opt out...be very withdrawn when there is energy moving . I think that blocking these flows takes a lot of energy. There is a less flexible Tone...u should not feel or live...until you are with who you consider to be "congruent". The waiting can be very long until you are in that desired state. Why desire denying your current moment? Its like putting a blanket over yourself. Dont show any hint of your being in this moment. Its a big suppressing theme...i cant agree to being unseen unheard for so many hours.

Since I was young I always have relationships problems. I’ve tried many kinds of relationships. And each one is getting further away from the standards of society. I honestly tired of being weird. I’ve always detested the standards of society. And I decided to keep my relationships private even from my own blood family. I didn’t mean that I detest marriage, it’s a good institution to have children. Because the law protects them. But I don’t think it works for me. As private as I am about my relationships, it’s still a lonely place because of course there’s a part of me who wants to be accepted by the standards of society.

LGBT people tend to have a firmer grasp on this, since by definition we are othered by society and therefore, by default, live unconventional lives. With the loss of any hope of conforming to the "perfect" picture of what relationships "should" look like - in other words, since we are free from society's script for how to live life - we have a lot more freedom to choose how we want our lives and our relationships to look.

I would love to make these changes. Problem is how to renegociate my marriage to allow for it. My husband is a bit sensitive and will feel like he's not good enough etc etc. So, I then have to deal with his insecurities on top of asking for this which is uber hard too. And with already lacking in emotional support from good relationships, I really struggle with this undertaking 😢

"Dealing with a man's insecurities". This sounds horrible. And i don't envy women in this position. It seems to me its what most partners to men are required to do on some level. Its not unlike having a child. That's What a large part of the job is: dealing with their insecurities or teaching them strategies to overcome them. But I'm guessing most men don't want women to tell him what to do or how to change. So what's a partner to do in that situation? Ugh. Sounds agonizing "...to have to deal with a man's insecurity" . Hopefully tho if that's the case you can have mostly a rewarding life where the dealing with that...is not such a huge burden.

And I'm still chasing this common model although, it seems that it, well, at least it didn't work. Realistically I think I do something alike serial monogamy. Maybe just to stick to it or something, I even accused of it one person, so might be it me, I usually go 200% against anything I am until I accept it and then it turns out the best thing for everyone. Thought-provoking ideas :)

You're never going to convince me that a nuclear family is a toxic thing. Loyalty breeds security. Children being raised with both parents is the ideal. Partners staying loyal to supporting one another. I think all you really needed to say was that there are different dynamics or arrangments a relationship can thrive, depending on the unique trauma/needs of the individuals. I wouldn't call that a paradigm. A paradigm is holding a belief like "polyamory is healthier than monogamy". This is a paradigm Teal ascribes to and an unhealthy one at that. Why force yourself to heal your trauma when you can just cope with your own lack of moral developments? Do you honestly think every nuclear family has the same dynamic? Why are we trying to undermine the basic family unit? The divine trinity is Father Mother Child. There is a sacred balance here. Maybe its a good idea to ask yourself WHY you want what you want. What about a pedophile's relationship paradigms? Should he lean into his need of using children up and discarding them when they get "too old"? You gotta have nuance with what youre saying. People have distorted needs or relationship paradigms because they themselves have been traumatized into wanting that. Animals on Earth have established mating dynamics that are not deviated from. So why would humanity be so confused about mating? Because we get traumatized and over complicate things. Marriage is a way to protect women, not just "exploit". Having a child with a man is extremely vulnerable because now you are dependent on his ability to come through. He could run away (like a lot of men) and leave her a single mother. Marriage is a way to pledge that you will not abandon your spouse. It is a symbolic ceremony representing 2 individuals becoming balanced with the edition of the Divine. The sacred balanced 3 energy. I could go on all day but Teal has some really unhealthy ways of approaching this topic. Her bias is so toxic sometimes. Like having a pet is slavery and eating is animal abuse/murder but abortion is totally fine. Most trauma victims hates humans and love animals. Its basic but Teal seems unaware that this is a shadow. She also seems unaware that most humans NEED animal products because humans have been carnivores since we started growing big brains.

I'm with you. I am pagan and use natural law as the ultimate guide. Just because there are outliers and statistical deviants doesn't change the vast majority of social structures that animals have. Granted, we are so damaged from trauma that I think we do need a bit of flexibility in how to cope with situations that result from those traumas. An example would be the ability to leave your partner that is abusive or even that doesn't support your needs. My situation had me in a marriage for 17 years because I am extremely loyal, but he wouldn't follow through in his promise to have children. Now I am infertile from waiting so long. So yes, I am in total agreement with you in principle, but because life is so screwed up I think we should have a bit of leniency from idealist perfection (as much as it pains me to say it!).

I liked everything stated in the video!- except when I heard you say “not one person may be able to meet all your needs”. Honestly- I actually used to think this exact same way, and literally pursued open and polyamorous relationships because I thought that- statistically speaking- one person Probbaly won’t be able to meet my many complex needs. But turns out- when I became the person who fully took responsibility for my own happiness, and when I found the person who displayed all the emotional maturity qualities that I knew were critical to a healthy relationship, and because I always felt safe and seen with this person- I realized I didn’t need multiple people to “fulfill my many needs”. AND ALSO- human beings are not “need fulfilling objects” in our lives. The only reason to want to have multiple romantic partners is because you genuinely love and see each person as a whole and complete person in your life. Objectifying another human being to being your “need fulfiller” is harmful and dehumanizing.

@Amtan.Personal
@Amtan.Personal Жыл бұрын
@@insanecuckooman8342 that’s not necessarily true. It is possible to love each person individually. In order to do it ETHICALLY, you love each person equally- but time and attention distribution may vary per partner. it should not be about loving one person and not the other, or loving one person more than the other- that’s a common misconception. Loving one person does not necessarily mean your romantic/sexual/platonic love is shut off entirely. Most people just automatically shut it off because of societal standards- and they don’t know that there are other ways to have healthy and happy relationships. A person’s love is not a finite resource, but it’s a personal choice to engage in ethical non monogamous relationships vs monogamous ones. It is complicated but possible to practice ENM where all members involved are respected, happy and fulfilled. It requires a lot of trust, communication, maturity, emotional intelligence, boundaries and compassion. It is more work than a typical monogamous relationship. It is not better or worse than a monogamous relationship- it is just different.
