The keys are beautiful! Highly recommend a trip here. We enjoyed Marathon as a calmer pace and the access to the ocean and the Florida Bay was so easy! Be sure to study the nautical maps before booking a place! There are a lot of shallows around the area that could cause you a longer ride to get out.

He David long time no see. I was just looking at Marathon videos before we go down in July. If you ever go back to Key Colony, Head out of Vaca Cut turn slightly left when you get to the channel marker put your compass on 0 and go about 12 miles 11 to 12 feet of water. Chum. wait 30 minutes and then star fishing squid and cut bait with light weight and let it drift back in the current until it takes off. You will catch a lot of lane and mangrove snapper.

I thought you might get into a bunch of Mangrove Snapper on the Bayside!! Lots of patch reefs on the oceanside out to the drop off......About 5 miles offshore if the weather ever lets up!!

We would have loved that! Not the most cooperative weather this week, so haven't made it out in the ocean very far.
