Think you need to give credit to the original patent holders of this device, or at least clearly state this is not your original invention as you video seems to imply.

Rough Hands, first of all, I want to thank you for sharing this video. Second, to all the critics, there is nothing wrong with duplicating anything that has been done by someone else. Specially is the original developer never file for a patent. And even if there is a patent, after 10 years anything can be replicated. I am grateful for him sharing this great idea because I never saw the original.

When I was in high school in machine shop, the first thing we had to make was a common screwdriver. I'm sure we all had one at home. We had all kinds of them on the farm but it was still a worthwhile exercise. I took it home, threw it into the toolbox in the shop and forgot about it. A couple of years later, my dad had it in the house and was using it for some job in the basement. This is just a little project for those who are just starting to learn fabrication. You geniuses need not watch.

I must echo the sentiments of a few others in this comment section which is one could jump through hoops and still get negative comments for a well-deserved completion of a DIY project. Some guys just want to send in their wise-ass comments rather than be a real man and either not say anything, or at least be polite. I was impressed with this video; no matter 'you can buy a chain wrench already complete', or some other comment when this gentleman was just showing others how he could make one of parts that were probably laying around his shop. What he has done here is innovative, and for taking the time and thought he has received over 14 million views. How many of you wise guys out there have that many views that you've received for doing something worthwhile. I'm sure that "Rough Hands and Unusual Ideas" can defend himself against any and all critical comments, but it just burns my behind to see so many poke their childish comments for whatever reason they do it. (And for those who criticized the loud background music); are you not familiar with how to turn down (or off) the volume on your computers? Just sayin'...

Real mechanics make tools n_n, working with conveyor belts i mad a hook to pull the round belt back on the spools with out stopping the conveyor cause it was a pain to get a lift under the belt and it was integral to the system so stopping that belt would stop the whole building

To everyone that’s hating on it or saying buy harbor freight, you guys don’t understand the principle of making your own tools and not just buying Chinese crap that usually breaks when you use it. I do have a constructive suggest that I may try if I build one, leave one end of the chain loose instead of welding it on, have it connect with a hook so you can adjust the size and also put it around a pipe or part that is continuous.

Darnley, yes like it but a chain wrench doesn’t have the tensioning threaded rod that this does. Also, I found his video from Dec 26, 2017 where he made another one that is adjustable already. He had already made my idea lol, good job! Keep up the good videos. Everyone who doesn’t like watching old school ingenuity, don’t watch if you don’t like it.

very nice - to make it better we should add a locking mechanism on one of the tip of the chain . This would add some versatility according to the length to be use to particular situation . In some cases you will be obliged to wrap the chain around something instead of going over it before activating the locking system . I do not know if I make the situation clear . excellent device .

I have a variety of serpentine belt type wrenches like this. Some are rubber, a nylon strap material and bicycle chain type, all available for purchase. You don't need to make one, they aren't expensive as tools go. They are for the most part considered plumbing tools, at least that's where I got mine at a heating/cooling/electrical/plumbing supplier.
