I've worked with foam patterns that were used to make fibre glass molds before. The method we used to prevent the patterns from being dissolved by our resin was to repeatedly coat the foam in layers of elmers glue that we thinned out with some water so that we could air brush it on. One guy on our team was smart enough to dye the glue different colors just to assist visually.

The aluminium sticks used - why? You could have just used something way thinner and lighter, turn it 90° (so it is not the broad side up) and used some string. Strings are quite strong for their weight and would distribute the tension directly from the motor to the bottom of the box.

I think the cooler drone was a good idea but it can be made better. Puting the dron in the cooler was a big mistake. Small electrical jets will give you better thrust and allowing you to put ice and items in it but will use more power so u will need a bigger battery.

I think this drone can be a huge aid, if you redesign properly with stronger and lighter materials. Carbon fiber container w peltier cooling with enough batteries to be remotely controlled, and i can imagine this as huge aid with some blood/plasma sacks, and analytic medical equipment that needs cooling/to be kept cool/sterile or fast delivery for doctors who are using motocycles to reach the event place. Many times this can be lifesaver. IF you can manage to fly about 5 hours straight, docking, w load/unload mechanics, approx with total load of 8 kg of pure load - you can be a hero.

if you had got rid of the plastic shell and extended the ally arms into a large X, you wouldn't have needed the high-density foam.
@Turnah816 жыл бұрын
Cheers yeah had thought about it, probably could of if I used carbon tube, but had no motor mounts for tube. With the aluminium it would have been super heavy. it is quite a distance to span, would have more than doubled the arm weight- didn't have the power, plus the exit angle wouldn't have been a nice 45 degrees. would have been good to loose the shell though.

You should do a phony Quickstarter video! About a new drone that can carry your beer, lift it off the (empty) from the front door of the liquor store to your car (why use a shopping trolly/shopping cart) and land it on your vehicle on the roof rack. You strap it down. Then a scenic drive along mountains to the coast. And show it going from the parking lot following you diligently to your camping spot. It arrives and (surprise) you open it up to see all the beer and soft drinks and ice. Slight slide of hand of course. Pop a cool one lounge around. Throw the empties back in, drain the melted ice. Maybe a shot of where a trail of water on the ground shows up. It flies back to land on the top of the car automatically. Strap it on. Load up the car drive off along the scenic mountain and coast. Saying it is available for 500 bucks or some silly thing. etc etc. But mention its a satire only. Could even stretch things a bit further by having the cooler fly around the store with you as you "load it up". Show amazed faces at the checkstand. Follow you around the beach. Pretend to sit on it. Carry the dog or infant back to the car (show mothers face), go back to the car for a second load etc. Pretend to have a couple people sitting on the cooler too. Rescue a drowning swimmer. All sorts of escapades. A hunting party where ammo arrives and the fresh killed bird is whisked away by the cooler. lol All implied that it is a smart cooler. A lovers couple has wine and condom arrive via cooler. Fishermen have beer and snacks arrive by smart cooler drone. A thief steals the cooler, robs a jewelry or gold bullion place, fills up the thing, it flies away, he walks past a cop with his hands empty in his pockets, smiles knowingly. Jimmy falls down a mineshaft, sends the drone back with a message. Flipper the dolphin, finds a lost person on a desert island, flys the drone to them. lol It could almost be a Lassie type TV series where the cooler always saves the day. Yeah, watched too much TV as a kid. If the idea gets a million dollars, I get part of it lol.
