New subscriber here after seeing a few of your videos. Love them. I’ve stepped up my pasta game after buying some fresh pasta from the store (instead of crunchy yellow stuff in the box) and grating fresh Parmesan. Still need to make my own sauce (tried Rao’s in the jar and don’t know if I can top that). Keep up the great videos!

After trying a couple of your pasta dishes like the Carbonara and Cacio E Pepe yep realized that its fantastic eating real authentic Italian recipes. I hate to break it to you for the Japanese culture the people of Japan love ketchup and they use it in a variety of “gaishoku” or foreign foods. Omuraisu which is omelette rice has ketchup on it and the Japanese version of spaghetti which is Naporitan or Neapolitan spaghetti even though it has no origins to it. The difference with Japan compared to a lot of the world is if they try traditional they tend to stick with it generally speaking. There are some that have experimented some foods to make it better and usually they turn out just fine. The recipe that I watched you react today it makes me question of the modern human taste buds. Do they really understand flavors? If you ever go to Japan to try some of the traditional or even some of the interesting European twist from Japan I know many of them you’ll be surprised since Japanese to are very picky just like Italians. Watching Pasta Grammar and your channel only made me crave for real authentic Italian food. If I get the chance I would love to go to Italy not only for the culture, but I always love Ferraris always so stunning.

I don't even know who she is other than someone I used to know would watch Honey Honey bobo or whatever she called herself. I haven't watched tele in 10 years or so and I don't even feel like I'm missing out on anything. I don't remember who said it, but it needs to be a T-shirt "STOP MAKING STUPID PEOPLE FAMOUS" That pasta slop she did definitely should NEVER be seen, let alone famous. In less time than it took to make that, a much better and healthier pasta dish could have been made.

I've actually tried this after she talked about it years ago (cause I was curious and she made it seem so good) and really didn't like it. It was so salty, unfilling, and overly sweet. The butter didn't really help either, just amplified the ketchup. In other words it tastes as you'd expect, noodles in way too much ketchup with butter lol. Also for something like this, I think it's ok to use the quick dried red spaghetti that Emmy was using because I don't think you'd want the good stuff for something like this anyway.

@@GrizzAxxemann If the issue is money, golden fried rice is likely cheaper and actually works well with ketchup. Just take leftover rice, mix with egg yolks to coat every grain (you can fry up the white to go on top), fry while stirring rapidly to keep the rice from clumping, add a tablespoon or two (No measure, just throw) and keep frying until the sugars caramelize a bit and balance the flavor a little better.

@@vincenzosplate I'll warn you: it's spaghetti with a ketchup-based sauce. Traditionally the noodles are cooked soft, so it's close to the "sketti" in this video. It's not a bad dish except that it has absolutely nothing to do with Napoli.

Plot twist: pasta with ketchup is actually a thing in Asia. Japan for instance has “Naporitan”, which is pasta cooked with meat sauce made from tomato paste or ketchup. Similar dish is also served in old-style localized Western restaurants in e.g. Hong Kong and Shanghai. That being said, we never claim them as “authentic Italian” from the beginning, and we never cook like this video😂

Pasta throwing is one of the two reasons why I can't have people in my kitchen while I'm cooking. The help of others in the kitchen always fills me with some kind of dread about them throwing pasta and stuff like that. What can I say, german carbonara and knorr-packet-culture broke me. The other and more important reason is that when I cook, I cook for people I value. Me cooking for them is my way of showing my affection, with which I tend to have problems otherwise (I'm very german, let's put it like that). It is what I do to express love. If someone else did it, it would be like having someone else saying "I love you" on my behalf, even in parts. Drink coffee, tell me a joke, keep me company, but don't you dare touch a knife.
@vincenzosplate
@vincenzosplate Жыл бұрын
It's completely understandable that you feel this way about having others in your kitchen while you're cooking. Cooking can be a very personal and intimate experience, and it's natural to want to keep it to yourself when you're cooking for loved ones. It sounds like cooking is a way for you to express your affection and show love to others. This is a beautiful thing, and it's important to find ways to connect with others in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to you. Ultimately, it's important to do what feels right for you and what brings you joy and fulfillment in your relationships with others.

hello fellow german and hello Vincenzo :) I think a lot of this feeling is also about controlling the process. I feel you very much: when i cook, i dont need help and i dont want help. Sometimes i feel like, people disturbe the routines in my cooking, so that i cannot deliver what i wanted to achieve for them. When i asked my mother, why i cant help her in the kitchen, it was the same reason, the same for my boyfriends family etc.

I'm happy to say I grew up in the Southern US (Texan and proud), and wasn't very fortunate financially growing up... but NEVER have I ever heard of ketchup in spaghetti 😂 I've even recoiled at the thought of the people who put sugar in it... I prefer my international foods to be authentic. When I eat Italian food, I want it to taste like Italian food. When I eat Mexican food, I want it to taste like Mexican food. When I eat Asian food, I want it to taste like Asian food (hence why I stay away from Panda Express and keep some MSG handy... sure to make a certain KZbin Asian Uncle happy 😂). Because, being Texan, I would expect the same of people who aren't from Texas to want when making BBQ, smoked meats, chicken fried steak, sweet iced tea, etc. Make it authentic. As my last First Sergeant said when I was still in the Army, "Don't shit in my hand and tell me it's a Tootsie Roll!" 😂

Loved your comment about the fact that it looks like canned spaghetti (because it does). I do believe in that video you said that it tasted like ketchup. Now you know why. She even compared it to canned pasta (spaghetti-o's) XD As for the spaghetti-throwing thing, I remember my mom showed me the same thing when I was a kid. And I remember asking her why she wasn't simply TASTING it. That way you don't have to wash your walls every single time, you don't have paste glued to your wall, etc... She only said that you can't taste it, because that's how you waste spaghetti...

In all honesty, I tried sketti after discovering it on chowhound (the guilty pleasure eats) thread a few year back. Sketti is probably for people who didn't grew up with quality pasta and are ketchup fanatics like me :') I appreciate good pasta (love your spaghetti al limone!) but sometimes when I want something quick and don't have the ingredients, sketti is just so easy to put together to fill your tummy. (I definitely did not make sketti to eat out of nostalgia while watching this video 👀)
