Angels fans can say the exact same thing! With Trout out on the IL AGAIN along with Rendon who doesn’t give a rats ass about it or the fans, along with Ohtani who went 40 minutes away to the largest contract in the history of sports. The fans have relaxed and expect to lose every single game and sell any players they have who show signs of playing well at the trade deadline. This could hopefully give them some good prospects and begin the long rebuild to return to the playoffs by 2030!

@terminator6950
@terminator6950 3 ай бұрын
@itzsummagic There is a simple reason for their lack of postseason appearances; before 1969, only the top TWO teams from each league would play in the World Series, best record in the American League, versus best record in the National League. No Wild Card round, no Division Series (which wasn’t even introduced until 1995). The League Championship Series wasn’t introduced until 1969, and the White Sox weren’t good during that time. (Tommy John and Wilbur Wood, were the stars). The White Sox won five pennants before 1920. Then, after the Black Sox scandal, the team cratered to last place. From about 1920 to the end of 1950s, they were constantly in the bottom half of the American League for years. Ted Lyons, Luis Aparicio, Luke Appling, Jimmy Pierce, Minnie Minoso, and Nellie Fox were some of the only good players on the Pale Hose (a team, nickname they had) squad during that time span. They won the pennant in 1959, but lost in six games to the Dodgers. They made it to the AL pennant just twice after that (1983 and 1993 [got absolutely caved in by Baltimore in ‘83. And put up a fight against Toronto in ‘93, but lost in six games]), before they ended their 88 year World Series drought in 2005.

@@216standonit4 The Indians have only won two World Series titles, 1920 and 1948. The powerhouse/ great teams in the early MLB from the turn of the twentieth century to 1920 were the Cubs, the White Sox, the New Yorks Giants and the Boston Red Sox. As well as the Philadelphia Athletics in the early 1910’s when they made four World Series appearances in five years, winning three of them. Cleveland was not a powerhouse team during the early MLB

@@nicholasturner7111 first of all, let’s not pretend Jerry didn’t luck into a World Series ring in ‘05 because a lot of that team had their best season of their careers on that team outside of a few. To be fair, baseball didn't really have a postseason until 1969. The "postseason" prior was just the American & National League teams that had the best regular season record and played in the World Series. So that 40-year stretch is applicable to almost every team not named the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, etc. Postseason streaks should really only be measured from 1969 onward.
@snerdterguson
@snerdterguson 4 ай бұрын
No, it should be counted for as long as there has been a postseason, regardless of how long it goes. Because otherwise, should we really count 1969- the wild card era? Or should the wild card era be counted now that we are in the nearly half the league gets in era?

2:45 The "imaginary pickoff" was a botched appeal play. Duran missed first before he reached third on an error, but an appeal play has to be made before the next play or pitch. Knowing that, Duran attempts to steal home on the appeal play attempt, because if he scores before the first baseman gets the throw, the "next play" after him missing first base would be him stealing home, which nullifies Chicago's window of opportunity to make the appeal play. Of course it ended up being a moot point since the White Sox botched the appeal attempt too, but it wasn't a stupid play, just awful execution. 😂

Everything starts with leadership. You hire an 80 year old to run the team. He leaves and you hire a guy who never ran a team. The losing starts and doesn’t end is now historical. The owner is going to either fleece the taxpayers or he’s moving the team I’ve loved 50 years.

we don’t get a top 10 pick either next year, we are completely screwed, we need jerry to kick the bucket and a new owner who spends like actual money, we need a owner who treats the sox like they’re actually in the 3rd biggest baseball market, even if we’re the smaller team

You already got the high draft picks beginning this year and have to do what terrible teams like Washington did, by signing once highly sought after players who became castoffs. That'll get you a mediocre team but integrate these picks in 3 years with them and it'll start to turn. All of these superstar quality players are either underwhelming or outright busts. I started listing guys but there are simply too many. Even productive players like Moncada, Abreu, Grandal, Robert, Eloy over the past few years haven't matched their abilities. In 3 years you have to have draft luck and scouting the way Atlanta-Baltimore has.

Coming into the season, there was no reason to be hyped up as a Sox fan.... The upper management didn’t do any major moves only to sign a bunch of Triple-A players, and this is the result we get… Seriously, Maldonado!?! I’m sorry, he absolutely sux!!! I knew we were going to be bad, but this is downright pathetic.. What’s worse is that we can’t even get better than 10th pick for next year’s mlb draft 🤦🏻‍♂️

People need to get over the dream that Jerry is gonna sell the team. He'd get hammered on capital gains taxes, and he's already stated that his kids should sell the team when he's gone. They will, and the new ownership will either demand / get a new taxpayer-financed stadium or they'll relocate. This goes no other way, unfortunately.

You know whats interesting, the Detroit Tigers (my team) hired a new announcer start this season and he is knowledgable but kinda rubs me the wrong way because he seems to have no respect for the tigers greats that are in the booth with him and I did a little digging and hes a white sox fan that was in Chicago's booth for a bit a year ago....he took more money to be in detroit...Id much rather have a delusional dude who loves his team than a guy just phoning it in every night

You know that that "imaginary runner" throw was meant to be a live-ball appeal of a runner missing first base, so the runner took off for home in order to create a play at the plate, thereby nullifying the defensive team an appeal at first base, where the alleged missing of the base occurred, right?

"They made the postseason in 2020 but who cares"? Still switching between "2020 was vaild" (when counting Astros successive postseason appearances) and "2020 was fake" (anything else), I see... And why was the 2005 series forgettable? The White Sox won it in 4 games - is that why? That was a massive hurricane year and some of us affected by it were happy to have pretty good baseball to watch.

@@iTalkStudios It's a shame too, but you are right. Sox beat Clements, Pettite, Oswald etc in a sweep. There were some great moments, but the Sox pitching was just so dominant. The next year was crazy because the Tigers probably lost the series on pitching fielding errors. I loved those two years!
